Bought this Einhell Bench Grinder to sharpen my Roughneck wood axes which were completely blunt when purchased.Upon delivery I noticed the box rattled significantly and when I opened it and one of the grinding discs was loose and rattling around in the enclosure.I re-assembled it and have since used it twice. The mechanism and build quality is quite good and it has done a great job of sharpening the axes. However, on the second use, the same disc that was rattling around worked itself loose. Perhaps I did not tighten it enough so am willing to give it the benefit of the doubt (will see with future use if that disc comes loose again).Overall,

As people say not the most powerful of grinders - so don't expect it to work miracles - horses for courses - but its a really good tool for the price and is well constructed.. Being 'standard' 6" discs is great as easy to swap out for a polishing or brass wire disc and shop around for spares - I use the grinder for grinding down some pretty tough minerals/stones and bronze/copper pieces etc. for jewellery purposes and for polishing - all of which it does admirably - it manages fine. It is relatively low noise (remember its a grinder and not a fan though!) in operation too which is helpful in a domestic based workshop. All in all a very good piece of kit which I'm pleased I purchased.

seemed well balanced straight out of the box. good for small grinding jobs. no excessive noise or wobble, did not even need to bolt it down.not keen on the design of grinders operation as they give an awkward working angle & limited working space, especially with longer objects.I have seen mods on youtube where the wheel rotations are reversed, the wheelguards are turned to the bottom with the open areas at the top, & you work on the top of the wheel, seems much easier to judge grinding angles & no restricted space for movement of longer objects on the wheels, maybe manufacturers should rethink the design layout.

Plenty of power available for grinding my chisels and plane blades. Not sure why people have reported it slowing down or stopping, mine has more than enough power to send the sparks flying.Dropped one star because the work rest doesn't let me set it at any other angle than horizontal, I had assumed it would (like others I have used in the past) allow me to set the angle so I could lay the tool on it, rather than having to freehand the angle. Guess I will either need to concoct something myself, or practice holding the angle freehand on some old chisels...

Exceptional value for money. Great, very useful little bench grinder. So far I have used it for sharpening chisels and punches, cleaning/de-rusting tools and workpieces, weld slag removal and grinding out intricate shapes from sheet metal. This little machine is very capable .As other reviews have stated it does stall quite easily, owing to its low powered motor. However, for everything I've thrown at it, it performs much better than the price would suggest!

Perfect for my needs but very weak. Can be stopped with very little pressure on the wheels. For what it is, it runs quietly and the rubber feet on the base help reduce vibration transfer to the worktop, further reducing noise. At this price point, I can’t complain about it being a weak motor. I’ve replaced sharpening wheels with polishing pads as I have other diamond stones. Great little hobby device and cheap and cheerful.

Runs very quiet and surprised me that it took a little time to get up to speed. Power-wise for buffing, wire-wheel and sharpening things it's perfect. Perhaps some of the other people reviewing here are comparing it to something much grander but at this price it's OK.There's a great video on you tube by a german who also compares it to something more expensive and slags it off, much like some people here.

I love this grinder, it's very small and stylish, but does what you need really well, it's also really quiet. However, it was damaged when it arrived but I needed it so I repaired it myself, some of the bracketry was bent and distorted so I had to straighten it. it could do with a provision to aid drill sharpening by including a 45 degree indent in the work holder like other makes, I will try and make one.

I wanted a bench grinder specifically for tool sharpening and this fits the purpose spot on. Although a bit smaller than you normally expect from similar grinders this still does the job perfectly. The quality and build is fine and for the price is excellent value.

Extremely quiet when running with no vibration, great value for money. Update on the grinder operation, if you need to grind harder material purchase a higher wattage as this can stall when worked hard but for the cost I cannot moan about the way it works.

I bought this to sharpen my lathe cutting tools. Considering it's very reasonable price , it's excellent for this. It's also really quiet and doesn't vibrate like some bench grinders do.

The product is small compact indeed, very light and seems to work well, have not used it yet but tested it on some items and it works great, for my small workshop it does the job.

Well designed sturdy machine for everyday home workshop sharpening/shaping jobs. Backed up by respectable Einhell brand name, good value all round, and easy to set up..

Typical German standard, well built and easy to use. You need to assemble the front guards and check wheel security on arrival. Grinding wheels good quality

This is a really good item. All the bits were in the bags and very easy to put the guards in place.Sturdy and easy to use so a very happy customer.
