Bought this for my shallow 70 litres tank which is only occupied by very small fish. Had a DIY solution before and the occasional fatal accident asked for a better solution.This one works perfectly. I had to mount it horizontally due to the limited depth of the tank but it still works great. It's very easy to clean and really extends the cleaning cycle of the external canister filter. You simply detach it from your intake and take it apart. Make sure your are quick as a lot of sediment comes loose and starts drifting around the tank. Give the two sponges a good rinse and squeeze, and you're good to go.Well recommended.

The Eheim pre filter is of a high quality with two cleanable sponge filters inside. They are easy to remove and wash out. The filter will fit 16 and 22mm suction pipe with a two diameter taper inside the connecting pipe. The filter is a bit bulky and unsightly but you can hide with a tall plant in front. I purchased as I have started to keep fresh water shrimp and didn't want them all ending in the filter. It also saves cleaning out the big filter so often as this catches the worst before it gets there. Its a easy job to clean these out and I wash these out once a week.

Brilliant little product.. have noticed a clearer looking tank and happier fish straight away. Looks a bit big and bulky in the tank compared to the standard cage you get with Eheim filters, but hide it behind a few plants and you’re good. Can’t fault it at all.Exception was the delivery driver who was rude, arrogant and had the nerve to shout at me (I mean actually shout) for not answering his phone call (which was an unknown 020 number - I associated it with a scam), then proceeded to call me again in front of me to prove to him that I got the call.

Fitted this item to my 25litre breeding tank instead of using DIY foam on the end of Eheim 2211 Classic intake pipe; so i could continue using my Eheim external filter with fry tank. Although I have swapped out the supplied sponge for some ultra fine grade to make certain no fry or newly hatched shrimp get sucked in; as the foam supplied is of the standard coarse variety found within most filters.As for items actual main task as a pre-filter it works well; collects a lot of muck and extends the main external cannister filter maintenance window.

Used as a prefilter for my Eheim Eco Pro 300. It works well preventing larger muck from entering the main filter and reducing cleaning times. It's quite big so thankfully comes in two sections which clip/unclip together, I chose to use just the one section which is great because that leaves me with a replacement foam. Would suit a very large tank when both sections are used but maybe even just the one section would be too big for some smaller tanks. Overall it is a great quality item, well-made and of good design. I totally recommend it.

Solid well made pre filter. This would be perfect to save shrimp from canister filters, unfortunately it doesn't fit my under cabinet Fluval connections. It's designed for over hang fittings. Still a five star product just based on quality.Just a couple points to consider though; it's grey not black. It's also huge! Luckily my tanks pretty big so this would have worked fine, but it could be a bit of an eye sore. I guess that's the compromise.

Sep 2017 Used on a Aquamanta EFX300 external filter and the filter intake fitted it just great. External filter cleans have gone from a weekly chore to monthly maintenance.One super product, just championApril 2018 purchased a second for a Aquamanta EFX200. Again slotted straight on. The reason for buying this time was it is for a tank housing small fish, and it does the job perfectly, no sliced and diced ember tetras in this tank :-)

First class product, easy to fit and adds extra filtration to your tank. if you already use Eheim internal filters you can swop the canisters and foam inserts from them, handy to seed new tank or emergency tank. I had another brand of external filter and they make a inline pre filter it was messy to clean because it's outside the tank fitted to the supply pipe work and you always had water spillage disconnecting and filling back up

Using this on my Eheim professionel 4+ external filter. Only had it on a few days but so far so good. Consists of 2 sponge compartments that come apart at the push of a button. Sponges are quite thick so looks like it's gonna hold a lot of waste and prolong my filter maintenance. Sponges are slightly visible too so you can see how dirty they're getting and give em a rinse. Definitely a good buy for the price. Get one!

Love this pre-filter. Helps increase time between main filter cleaning. I run an EHEIM 250 (2213) on a 55 Litre tank and now I clean the pre-filter once per week and the main filter once per month, though I'm quite fussy and you could probably get away with longer.Also has the option to use both sections or just one. It is a bit large for a small aquarium, but just hide it behind some plants/décor.

Great addition to the filtration of your tank. Prevents solid waste and sand from entering your filter meaning cleaning periods of your filter can be extended.Clean this pre filter sponge regularly though as it gets clogged quickly and reduces water flow from the filter outlet.I keep Malawi’s but even I was surprised at the amount of waste that came out of these two sponges when I cleaned them.

Purchased this pre filter as a connection onto my Eheim 2215 external filter - the item itself is ordinarily quite tall and bulky, but can be split into a single segment, rather than two - best to hide with some well positioned, leafy plants. Helps to reduce the gunk clogging up the filter pipes, and reduces the amount of awkward maintenance required in cleaning filter media, etc. Recommended.

This piece of kit does what it says on the tin. It removes the majority of the larger bits; in doing so it keeps the main filter cleaner for longer! Great labour saving device (except for the occasional pre-filter rinse). The pre-filter traps un-eaten food and other bits of debris preventing my canister filter from clogging up so often. Simple idea that works quite well.

It is amazing how quickly the foam starts filling up with debris - which would normally have ended up in the filter. Easy to clean with a quick rinse in aquarium water, which saves all the hassle of opening up your filter. In addition it significantly increases how much filter media you have and prevents baby fish being sucked into the filter! Brilliant!

This pre-filter has extended the interval of the maintenance cleans of my external Eheim Pro 4 350T. The pre-filter performs well taking out the larger particles and some smaller ones also, and the fac it can split in two to allow the use of just 1 or 2 canister sections is a great idea. I use one canister for my 165 litre tank, works a treat.
