I previously used a hard shell case, which after a few years service unfortunately got cracked due to mishandling by airport baggage stuff.It was the equivalent to the Medium size of most brands. This time around I wanted something less likely to crack and although the Medium size was perfect for me and fairly compact, Large size would provide the space for longer holidays. The problem is a lot of Large size cases tend to be bulky and bulbous.This ended up being the one. It has 20L more capacity than my previous case but the design is taller but slimmer than most other brands I looked at. This means it doesn't appear bulky.It is very smart and tidy looking.There's loads of packing space and both of the sides can be zipped up to neatly section off your clothes and other case contents.The wheels are extremely good- soft rubber like skate wheels so it wheels around freely and quietly. The extension handle is a little on the stiff side but it feels like it will ease up with use.There are grab handles on the top and side for easy lifting and the standard TSA zip lock mechanism.The only issue some might have is it doesn't "extend" to give some extra depth to the packing space. I was initially concerned as I often pack a ski helmet in the case for winter holidays. I checked on receiving and the helmet fits fine. The extra width (due to the slim shape) makes up for the inability to make the space deeper.I got the black version. I can see it being prone to marking and dust but I've no concerns. The 30 year warranty is enough to put me at ease and the fact the Eastpak promo video shows somebody throwing the Tranzshell case around leaves me confident it will survive baggage handlers!There's no way it's worth the full price on the Eastpak website but definitely worth the 40-50% cheaper price on here, especially if you're not keen on hard shell and don't fancy the similarly priced American Tourister luggage.
