This is from the Rhino range of laminated tape labellers from Dymo. The alternate current range of Dymo 200 series models which have predominantly green packaging and those that use D1 tapes are intended for home and office use and have a restricted range of base substrates and a more limited range of background and text colours. These, and the preceding series which used yet another cartridge format, are those with which I am most familiar but the Rhino models have their own advantages not least of which is their greater ruggedness and enhanced feature set. The Rhino models also feature switchable backlighting which is advantageous when the machines are used in poorly-lit environments and awide range of symbols including several that are industrial are grouped into several categories and obtained primarily via the LIBRARY key and then using the four navigation keys to manoevre amongst them. Curiously, some commonly used punctuation characters including the comma (,) are included as 'numbers' although ten are optionally available by using the ALT key and one of the available numerics keys in combination.The colour combinations of Rhino tapes is wider and meets some common industrial standards (but you may have to order some from specialist dealers as they may be less readily available) which means that they are most suited to industrial uses. There are several label widths from 6mm up to 24mm, most of them adhesive, although this model has an upper limit of 19mm which should suffice for many tasks. It should be noted that the full range of sizes is not always applicable for all substrates and the smallest or largest may be omitted in some instances. There are also non-adhesive tab labels that may suit some purposes. It should be noted that the tapes for the two labeller ranges are not interchangeable.The substrates for the Rhino range labels include vinyl, polyester (in permanent and semi-permanent versions), flexible nylon and metallic. The nylon type can be wrapped around cables which may prove useful in a large network situation and also offers a shrink-wrap sleeve in several of the sizes usable where you have open-ended cables before an appropriate plug is fitted. It also offers two types of bar codes including the common Type 39 which will be useful in many commercial situations but of little value otherwise and a full range of alpha-numerics, graphics and symbols including some common mathmatical symbols. The machine has a 'soft' rubberised body rather than the hard shell of the 200 range.The domestic/office machines range from those that are hand-holdable to those that are much larger and intended to be used on a desk. This machine is mid-way between those extremes and is just a little too large to be comfortably hand-holdable but the next model up, the 5200, is more hand-friendly.It requires 6 AA batteries which are not supplied but a single 12mm permanent polyester tape is provided. In the box is a small, graphics-only, ring-bound card User Guide which is more likely to survive use in industrial environments. The Guide may have been laminated to resist greasy fingerprints. There are usually downloadable full manuals for their products on Dymo's site and that is true for this model, too. It offers a memory function to allow storage of several commonly used labels and a 'Favorites' button to select them. As with other models from both ranges, a limited choice of typefaces and styles is offered as is the possibilty to create a serialised set of labels as with the ports on a network, for a set of files or volumes.The 4200 model is the lowest of the current Rhino range and is also available as a cased kit with selected tapes, as are several other models from both ranges. It has provision for an optional mains adapter (which also serves as the charger for the battery pack) or to use a battery pack both of which may be available online or from some specialist dealers. The same units fit several Dymo D1 and Rhino models and may therefore be interchanged. However, based on past use of other AA-powered Dymo labellers, a set of batteries is likely to last a year or more if the labeller is occasionally used but a few months if used moderately often. This product range uses a mainly yellow and black body which is similar to that used for industrial test equipment which the labeller may be used alongside. It is built to resist moderate physical shocks as are more likely to occur in an industrial environment. I had seen earlier models from Rhino used as part of several PC technicians' kits where a label may be affixed within the computer case to record a repair reference, date and engineer concerned.Well priced for the features and build quality. If you need its different options of label materials, colours and wider sizes, the ability to print on shrinkable cable sleeves or its bar code functions this may be a viable alternative to the 200 range or as an addition to one normally used in the office.

The DYMO Rhino 4200 label printer is a well named piece of kit; it is impressively robust and well built.The Rhino needs six AA batteries, which are not supplied, although it is also possible to purchase a quick charging lithium-ion battery. The Rhino is supplied with a tape cassette containing 5.5m of 12mm wide white vinyl tape, which prints in black. Other tape colours are also available and print can be in either black or white, dependent on which colour is chosen. Other tape materials are; flexible nylon, permanent polyester, heat-shrink tube, non-adhesive tag and self-laminating. Tapes are available in 6mm, 9mm, 12mm and 19mm widths, not all widths are available in all colours.With the easy to use,well printed, durable Quick Reference Guide, which is provided, I was producing labels within a few minutes of turning the Rhino on. Label text, upper or lower case, bold and/or italic in a number of sizes, including common symbols, is entered through the well sized QWERTY keyboard and displayed in the clear LCD window, which can be illuminated with the light button by its side. When the text is complete, press the PRINT button, and the tape is scrolled out of the top of the unit ready to be cut with the cutter on the side. Text is printed horizontally by default, but can be printed vertically by using the ROTATE key. Label printing is clear and sharp.By using the CODE 39 key, text is automatically converted to a code 39 bar code, or to code 128 using the CODE 128 alternative, and can be printed with or without text.If you need to print a number of sequentially numbered labels starting with a fixed element, this can be easily accomplished with the SERIAL key. Cables can be labelled with stick-on labels using the WIRE/CABLE key or as flags using the FLAG alternative. Additional alternatives are available.Frequently used label text can be stored using the SAVE option of the library option and retrieved using the LIBRARY key.Have no doubt this is a high quality product that should give years of service to any small business or home user. One word of warning, although the Rhino is very competitively priced, consumables are expensive.

I'm definitely a Dymo loyalist, so this is a review by someone who is partially converted already. I have an office style label machine that sits neatly in my drawer at work, and is invaluable for organising files, boxes, and storage items with its efficient and pleasingly well personalised labels. Any new item by this well-established and efficient brand is to be welcomed, and if you have a DIY bent, or perhaps only small business, this labelling machine is the one to go for.Try not to wince at the name, which is very cheesy, but instead focus on the really rugged build of this labelling machine, and a number of features which make it especially appealing.The graphically driven and very clear instruction manual allows you to change size of font orientation available to produce wraparound labels that would be suitable for wiring, as well as more conventional linear labels. The QWERTY keyboard is a real advantage, although you might need to persevere and experiment as there is a multiplicity of keys and their function while generally intuitive is not always completely apparent at first glance. The colour, and rubberised protective cover is obviously designed for the DIY market, and if you are organising materials or constructing storage, this will be a real advantage to you. The traditional problems with this kind of labelling machine in terms of battery demand and the extensive replacement tape have not been solved and just something you have to take on the chin if you want access to the study and efficient object. I really rate this item and it's been really useful to us-although be careful changing the tape cartridges as we have had a couple of mistakes which cost us nearly £11 a cartridge. That given, I still give this full marks for what it does.

This is quite a rugged piece of kit, well suited for an office or even an industrial environment despite its relatively modest price tag. It runs on batteries, six AA size, rather surprisingly not supplied and does not have a mains adaptor which is also a little surprising. It is quite a heavy item, weighing in at about a pound and a quarter and is about 7 x 2 x 4.5 inches in size.Once loaded up with batteries, which was quite easy, this is very straight forward to use. Turn it on, type your text using the QWERTY keyboard and it is shown on the display. If all is well, then press the print button for it to be committed to the tape or alternatively edit until you have it right. Once printing is completed,there is a scissors protrusion on the right hand size and pressing that cuts off the tape for you to use.The short instruction booklet is in the style favoured by manufacturers these days ie no written instructions, just diagrams to avoid a multi language presentation. However, unlike many booklets in this format, this unit is so easy to use that it is very easy to follow the instructions. There are a number of different tape types and sizes which you can use according to your specific requirements. These include permanent polyester, flexible nylon, heat shrink tube, vinyl or non adhesive tags. A single 12mm adhesive permanent polyester tape is provided with the machine.This an effective and very competitively priced labelling machine which gives a professional looking finish and has a good variety of media which can be used for printing.

I wanted a label machine as I run a business selling used audio equipment, I wanted something to be used to security seal an item to stop anyone tampering with the products, I have in the passed purchased them on line but there fairly expensive, I hoped the Dymo would do the job.First impressions are good, I don't mind the fact that it runs on AA batteries, I have a electrical PAT Tester which also runs on batteries, It saves having to have power points where you some times don't have them.The Dymo is very easy to use as a basic machine, labels are clear and professional looking.I wanted a label that I could just add warranty void if removed which it did brilliantly,for me what let it down is the label adhesive is only average and doesn't always stick to the surface's I want it to, some of the amps have a slight texture which the labels just won't stick to, I also label the cables and the cable labeling is brilliant.I do like the machine and its functions, although I don't use bar codes it is capable of printing them effortlessly, you have a small rocker type cutter which cuts the labels after they have printed.I have a use for the machine but it is not really good enough to use as a tamper label printer as the labels have a good chance of falling off on there own accord, that doesn't make it a bad bit of gear, its does what it is supposed to do very well and is really easy to use, in a different environment it would be a cracking label printer.The labels are available to different sizes

Primarily a label maker for Industrial and Commercial use, this excellent label maker is very impressive.It has protective integrated rubber bumpers on all corners so if you drop it won't come to any harm.There is a small screen for you to enter and check the text before printing the label. You can have print as small as 6pts or as large as 32pts.There are options for entering the size of the cable its intended for. With other options for HeatShrink tubes and Flags for cables. Not to mention Barcodes! 128 and code 39.The screen has a back light option for using in the dark, and the text is entered on a qwerty keyboard.There is a Rotate button that enables you to make the text go vertical,or even backwards.Other buttons include Favourites, for storing often used Labels and the Custom key for avoiding repeated steps, customise and save settings for individual label formats.The labels take only seconds to print, and are completely dry and smudge proof. There is a cutter on the side , you just press the button and it's ready!The labels peel off easily with a split back design you just peel away the backing.The labels are waterproof and you can buy a variety of colour options and materials.You can of course use this label maker in a home or office setting as it makes basic labels in an efficient, fast and easy way.This is a great little machine that will probably last a long time as it seems very well made. It is also good fun to use.

Now Dymo has always been a godsend when it comes to labeling the things you love, well now it's hit the digital age and it's better than ever. Before we could just typeface a name or sentence on blue or white or black tape with chunky letters. for some that was good but now we hail the digital age and Dymo's labeling product has moved with the times of this new millennium. With these new digital labellers bring you the new way to label your loved things. First off, the digital interface is easy to use and instead of just one font you now have at least four. You can even resize your font to fit the tape. All you have to do with this is choose your font and size, type out the name of the product/person and press print.Out comes the name or sentence on the tape, cut the tape with the inbuilt slicer and volia! your label is ready for whatever you want it for. I used mine to catalogue my DVDs and Blurays. That aside the only problem i had with the machine is that the labels aren't that well caligraphed for the labels. I found that some of the letters were not fully illustrated on the tape. Parts of ink were missing and it didn't make the label look that good. Still i guess you can't have it all. It is good but it could be SO much better with a better typeface on the labels, more fonts and possibly better sizes.

Dymo produce a range of labelling machines, all serving the same purpose which is to produce labels for a multitude of applications around the home, office and business.The Rhino 4200 sits in the middle of the Dymo labeller range and is a very robust machine with rubberised body which will cope with some day to day rough treatment.The keyboard is the familiar QWERTY layout so is quick and easy to navigate, the display is clear and the one touch shortcut keys (hot keys) enable the printer to produce labels intended for wire/cable wraps, code 39 and code 128 barcodes, instant rotation, and more. A range of label sizes can be used - 6, 9, 12 19mm widths - in a variety of colours.They are a little pricey though, so a bit of care should be taken to avoid unnecessary mistakes. Loading new labels is quick and simple.The instructions are clear and easy to understand, and operating the machine is fairly straightforward and intuitive.Power is by 6AA batteries or by lithium ion battery, neither of which is supplied, or by mains adapter which is also not supplied.Aside from the slight disappointment over the lack of power supply I found this a great all round general labeller for the works office.

I was a little disapointed that the box did not include a power source. You must either obtain 6 AA batteries or a 9v power supply. It may be mentioned on the box or product spec list but not everyone reads it that carefully. It is common for most items these days to have a power source.The 'ease of use' is excellent. No boring instruction manuals. A pocket sized booklet that attempts to explain everything in image form (language free) is cute but pretty meaningless.It's easy enough to work out the basics. The print quality is excellent, the speed is lightning fast and the label reel slips into place and performs well.The labels are plastic coated (not the technical term)and this means excellent durability.I just needed some simple, black and white labels and this more than satisfied.Nice built quality, with rubber corners and rubber keyboard. It feels robust enough to survive the odd knock.Really solid product.

Pros:- Good rugged rubberised case so should take knocks well.- Easy to use, and the QWERTY keyboard is far better than an ABC keyboard as found on many labellers.- Clear, backlit display.- Can use various label tape sizes and styles (around 10-15 pounds each on Amazon)- Can print a variety of layouts incl multi-line, horizontal, vertical, flag and barcodes.Cons:- No PSU supplied so needs batteries (Dymo website didn't list this model when I checked so I can't even find an official PSU!)- Just one font - a selection of two or three would have been nice.- Limited selection of symbols available.- No PC interface.All round very good at what it does, but not the most versatile out there.

A very intuitive, sturdy and well designed labeller, this runs on 6 (count 'em!) batteries that you have to supply. I got it going without the instructions, so it's very easy to use and well thought through. The labels are white and print and cut easily. The text is entered and edited on-screen prior to print-out. There is a backlight in case you're working in the dark I guess. The unit is somewhat heavy and comes with one reel of black text on a white label.All in all, a great product. As someone who doesn't do much labelling, I have to question the price of these things - seems a lot just to create something as humble as a label, but if you're going to buy one, this is excellent.

I bought this more for the office and I like it - Really happy with the fact you can use different size tapes and the Querty keyboard is brilliant. Print quality isn't top notch, but it is pretty good.

Has worked faultlessly, with a reasonably intuitive keypad that means I am not forever looking for the instruction booklet. Only downside, and this is a minor quibble, is the batteries it requires.

Great product, I install cctv and alarms the cable label function is great. I can now quickly and neatly label all of the cables I run whilst installing them.

Superb. I was going to get my usual one from dymo that's twice the price, I'm so glad I didn't the qwerty keyboard makes this so much more practice.
