EDIT: March 12th 2016. Six months down the line and my little machine has broken. I bought a mains charger so it didn't gobble up batteries and it was used maybe once a week for about 20 minutes at a time. It suddenly decided it was fed up with printing and so started to spew out copious amounts of tape with no print on it. However, if you held it up to the light you could faintly see the outline of the writing on it. I contacted Dymo and one of their associates took me through the process of attempting to find the fault. This didn't work so on receipt of proof of purchase and a photo showing the non-existing printing I was immediately offered a replacement.I duly produced the evidence and packaged the offending article back to Dymo (freepost). I then sent them a copy of the proof of postage and the next day after the phone call to Dymo I received an email telling me a replacement had been dispatched. Thanks Dymo. Good customer service is obviously one of their strong points and it is so refreshing to experience it.I am totally in love with my little label maker. For years I have been writing on 2ml perfume decant bottles with tiny writing. Granted I do have rather nice handwriting because I study calligraphy but the old eyeballs are not as sharp as they once were and tiny writing has to take a back seat now. I will come clean though. I actually called the Dymo company and explained what I needed one for especially as some of the more expensive models only seemed to have larger font/tape sizes. Thanks to Rick who took the time and trouble to tell me what I needed I now have a very modestly priced machine to make proper printed labels and all topped off with sticky backs so I don't have to put clear sellotape over the labels anymore.I also want to say how easy it is to use. I haven't tried to use any of the more elaborate symbols etc. but then I can't actually foresee a need to use them. Besides if I do, there is an excellent review by a fellow reviewer who actually went to a lot of trouble to compare it against another brand of label maker which is well worth checking out to see which would be best for your needs.I am also something of a luddite when it comes to modern technological gadgets. If anyone can break them within minutes I can. Even an abacus is not safe in my hands. But this little machine is a dream. I had it up and running within minutes of it arriving and will now probably spend a lot of time making little stickers for perfume bottles. I think I will invest in a 9volt adapter though as I can imagine it will whizz through 6 AAA batteries in no time. Also it will be interesting to see how many labels one replacement tape will make. I know they are much longer than the one given with the machine.Just for interest here is a photo of the first tape I made. One of the letters was a little squished but each one afterwards came out fine. I used font size 8 and it fits a 1ml perfume decant perfectly.

LM160 - price paid £22.41 (minus 50% cashback - see below)Just got this today. It's a good piece of kit. Definitely simple to use, which is good because there's no instruction book included - you have to search online. But it's pretty self-explanatory really. It prints on 6, 9, or 12 mm tape. The 12 mm stuff seems to be the most available and it lets you fit in 2 lines, which is convenient for small labels (most of mine so far seem to have used the 2 lines). "Compatible" tapes available here or on eBay seem to be identical to the Dymo stuff, and less than half the price. My complaints:1) No "clear" button (which is available on all the other LM products),so you have to delete your previous label a character at a time by holding down backspace (which is sloooow). There is no memory function so you have to type your label out every time, unless you're just repeating the last label you did. Not convenient if, say you're labelling up a mixed bag of items e.g. garden plants. This isn't really a complaint so much as a feature you have to pay more for, since the rest of the range has this in some form.I also had some problems with the tape jamming. After a while I realized that you have have to firmly push the cartridge all the way in on both sides. It is easy to only partially click it in place, which makes it jam when you try to print. In some ways I wish I'd gone for the LM 280 - it has more features, like multiple fonts, clear and memory buttons, multi-line display, ability to print multiple labels at once, connect to and design labels on a computer, a rechargeable battery pack. Might be worth it if you get the 50% cashback. But if you just want something simple for occasional use, this is the one to get.If you go to Dymo.com, they are giving 50% cashback on the LabelManager range until April 30th 2018 (including Amazon purchases).

My requirements were quite simple when I was looking for a label maker; something that could print 1/2" labels at a reasonable pace and good quality. Nothing more, nothing less. I didn't have many to print, just to label a few switches inside a vehicle I was preparing.I'm really glad I opted for the Dymo, it's perfect! the labels print well, and quickly too. There's a wide range of emojis to choose from too, if that's your thing. And there seems to be a lot of customization including but not limited to, borders, text orientation, text size, label width, emojis plus more other little features. The machine itself feels solid and well made, and replacing the labels is a doddle. One criticism is that sometimes on first loading a different label into the Dymo it can end up jamming up and needs to be manually pulled through the slot first, but I don't know if this is normal, it may well be but it is slightly annoying at times. The included black on white labels are OK but don't stick all that well compared to some others I have used. As mentioned above, I only got this with the intention of labeling a few switches (Less than 20 in total), but now I can't stop! Labeling open dates of jams/sauces etc. labeling GoPro batteries so they don't get mixed up with my friends when we all go out! It's great, it drives the other half mad but I love it. Wouldn't hesitate recommending this to anyone looking for a cheap, reliable printer for occasional& light usage.

Does exactly what I asked of it. The multi line is a little strange how they indicate 2 lines of text, by showing them only on line, the kind of thing Auntie might get stuck with it but easy enough to figure. I have labeled many many things with it and still only on the original batters (6 AAA) and tape, so maybe not labeled that much. It felt like I did.The text on its largest size is actually pretty big and easily readable, the print is actually quite sharp not much fuzziness.Back on the subject of that multi line, you can't have one line in bold and then one line in not bold. no bueno. If you want to use brackets then finding them will take you a lifetime. They need to rethink the system for special characters, its unintuitive and not clear at all. Just tell Auntie it doesn't do brackets or you'll never leave before the rush hour. One thing to note, I missed any note that says it does come with a tape. It does, you get 3 meters for your labeling delight.

This was purchased to replace a very old Brother PTouch 85 that had developed a fault. Its good value, it works the same way as any other label maker of this type. Its a thermal printer. You do have the choice of 3 different tape widths, which is useful. All of the usual fonts and special characters etc.However. No instructions enclosed, no batteries supplied. If you do not have access to the Web how do you get the instructions ? Batteries were not a problem as I buy them in bulk, it's a lot cheaper. My old label maker also came in a rather nice box, which happens to fit the Dymo. So, no box, no instructions , no batteries supplied. And the usual " starter tape " which like the starter ink jet cartridges does not hold enough. So have sent off for two third party ones.Apart from a few things I would have liked supplied its a nice bit of kit. May be I am being to critical, as lots of items are sold in this way now.

Bought as a present for my daughter. I have never seen a more pleased 16 year old. She was over the moon with this - especially when she found all the signs and icons on this little beauty.Out of the packet you can feel immediately this is a quality item. It fits in the hand well and is so easy to use. In no time the art ridge is inserted and away you go. Type in what you want on your label and...print...tadaa..label appears.Peeling the back off the label is a breeze - none of that fiddly picking like some label makers. The font is clear, the labels are ideal and it does the job for which it is intended perfectly. Needless to say my house is now labelled to within an inch of its life!Highly recommend this to anyone needing to label things...and those who don't need to but WANT to. It's quite addictive!

I bought this Dymo to print out plant labels, and so far I must have made about seventy. I bought the 9mm tape to go with it as I had read that people had had problems with the 12mm that comes with the Dymo 160 sticking. As already stated there are no instructions in the box, you have to download them. Seems easy, but I couldn't find any mention of this model on their website. I did a Google search and that solved that problem. Having said that, the only reason I wanted instructions was for the two line printing; easy.I had no trouble with the 9mm tape sticking, but when I did try the 12mm sure enough it jammed. I simply removed the cassette pulled the tape out about an inch, and it was fine. The printed names look so much better than my hand written ones, so, so far I am very pleased with it.

very good printer you must use official labels the compatible ones are unreliable at bestthis particular printer does not print anything, the labels are completely blank even when using fresh battery's and expensive genuine Dymo labels.I can only conclude that this printer must be faulty or at least has a bad print head or something similar.Faulty Item so I would recommend that you avoid. (ASIN:B006O87KUA) Dymo S0946320 Label Manager 160 Hand held Label Maker Qwerty Keyboard I received a replacement and the replacement works However the labels are not great, the printer uses a very thin ribbon of Carbon paper to print, it is a little bit finicky and messy, some direct printing to the label would be a far better solution.I believe the Brother printers actually do that.

This is a lovely piece of kit which produces nice clear labels in a variety of forms. I would have given it five stars apart from a couple of niggles. Firstly, there is no user manual apart from a rather basic illustrated pamphlet which doesn't really tell you anything. However, it's quite fun to experiment with all the buttons to find out what it does - and it does quite a lot! The second niggle is that removing the backing from the printed label to expose the self-adhesive strip is a bit of a fiddle, as unlike the basic Dymo mechanical label printer, it doesn't produce a half-cut to enable the backing to be simply peeled off. Nevertheless,I'm well pleased with this kit which produces professional-looking labels in a variety of forms.

The label maker arrived promptly as scheduled. I was excited to use it right away but found no batteries (6 AAA's) and so had to wait another day before going to the shop to get them. Once inserted it worked a breeze and I have even experimented with the clip art feature to add pizzazz to labels. Do note that the label maker does not come with a detailed instruction book which means I was guessing my way through to the first label. Annoyingly, even after switching the thing off and switching it back on again, the screen does not start back at nought and still shows you the last label made. This means that you have to manually delete each word before starting afresh with a new label. Otherwise, good product.

This Dymo label maker is a very good product. You can easily make any label and it has different symbols and clip art included to make your label a lot more fun. You can also change the size of your text, add borders and change the direction of the letters. The keyboard is easy to use and the machine is easy to navigate. My only problem is that the tape is not very sticky and peels after a week or so.I also had a few problems setting up the machine as the batteries wouldn't fit correctly and it kept turning off. It was also hard to get the tape to exit the machine and print. This is all ok now.Apart from this small issue the machine is very good. I'm glad I got this product.Very well made and simple.

I have to say its my first label printer, but I did some 'research' before to get this.I got it mainly for its price (here) and can get D1 cassettes that come to various sizes (6/9/12mm)in contrast to the LetraTag labelmakers (can take ONLY 12mm tape).Has a 9v input for adapter (negative tip polarity, needs around 2A) and can get 6 AAA (not a typo its three A) batteries.Note that the included label cassette is a 12mm x 3m (1/2" x10'), 'normal' cassettes are 7m long...Please note: The 'manual' can be found only on-line, also, you can't print multi-size/style fonts at the same time, all the text will be in one style/size.

I really like the LabelManager 160, but it is missing important features from the Letratag product I also have. These are namely the save/load and the clear functions. It was very handy to be able to save labels we print repeatedly, like the kids name tags. It is also quite annoying to not be able to delete a label in one go, which when you have a multi line label can be annoying. Otherwise, I prefer this to the Letratag. I also expected it to be a bit smaller than it is, perhaps 25% so enough to notice. Would I buy again or stay with the Letratag? Not sure, not sure...

When I first inserted the batteries to test it out, it turned on but I just couldn't get it to print. I also purchased a power adaptor for this so I tried it with that and it also wouldn't print. I was on the verge of just returning it when it just started working again suddenly. It is working fine now with no issues. Once it's working, it's a great device for our label needs. There's a wide range of labels available which is great but they're a bit costly if you wanted a good variety of them. Would have given 5 stars if it wasn't for the little issue at the beginning.

This is certainly a cheaper alternative to other label makers out there, but it still does just as good a job. The firmware offers plenty of options of how you want the label font to look. People are complaining about the print quality, however, I noticed that it still powers on even if one of the batteries is the wrong way around. I did this when setting it up and it seem to print out just parts of letters - if that. I would urge these users to double check the battery orientation as after putting the battery the correct way, it worked perfectly.
