Well, did I ever think I would be reviewing glasses on Amazon? No. But, after having had these for a year and a half (and another set for a year) I feel I have to.These glasses look nice and clean, and they don't cloud up like other glasses of similar style. They hold a fair volume of water (360ml) and have a wide enough opening at the top to dunk cookies! But the main reason I felt compelled to review these is because of their durability. They have left many jaws dropped. I managed to drop one off of a table onto my tiled kitchen floor. My heart skipped a beat. But for no reason - the glass simply bounced, then rolled around the floor, still intact. Phew! But this isn't an everyday scenario,

We used this brand in catering for years, if we were ever unfortunate enough to break one, they shatter in lumps that are easy to clean up.Can withstand very high temperatures - even boiling water. Still as good as they were back in 1970-1980 when I was annoying my Dad in the very busy kitchen as a Child.I broke one by accidently dropping it on a tempered glass table, and it did break into big manageable pieces, so our batch was genuine, Table undamagedDropping them on a kitchen (non-slip Linoleum) floor doesn't seem to harm the rest - ours bounce! (do not try this, there are mixed reviews on QC)And they Still say they are made in France.

Versatile, good looking, easy to clean, perfect size. Those are reasons that cafes and restaurants all over the world use this glass (either the real Duralex, or imitations with the same pattern). The ridged sides make them easy to grip while wet, the rim is the right width for comfortable drinking, and they feel solid without being heavy.Oh, and they're pretty much invincible in a home setting. My two cats love to knock glasses and cups off tables. They usually break. These tumblers don't.Update: All six are still going strong, look good as new, and have withstood intense use for years and years. Outstanding!

I used these as a child; and in my own uni digs. I bought one for nostalgia sake, loved them so much, that I have bough 3 sets of different sizes now. They can be day to day glasses, which is what I use this size for; of you can serve classy looking drinks in them if you have visitors around. Sadly I don't have the time to make the cheap and nasty home-made beer and wine that I made in my uni days, to totally re-invent the scene.These glasses are solid feeling, and so will not be prone to chip. They clean well, and they do provoke comments from visitors; and none of my previous glasses ever did that.

I've just bought a 3rd set of these (making 18) because my family all love them. They're heavy duty, easy to hold, the right size for a decent drink without being too big, and they're strong. I managed to drop one from surface height (about 1m up) right onto a hard-tile-on-concrete floor and winced expecting the smash, only to find it just bounced. I haven't managed to chip a single one of the original 12 I bought yet.I haven't tried putting boiling water in them (which is what others have complained about) but in my view that's not what they're for.... that's why we have mugs! :-)

Sometimes you love a product so much you just have to write a review.I have always known these glasses but as we've had a stack of the ikea version for years I could never justify buying them. After a trip to Byron and enjoying a beer from one I bit the bullet and purchased six. Comparing the 2 side by side there is no competition, the ikea version look ugly and are destined for the charity shop. Another six of this size plus a smaller version now grace my cupboard and we'll be enjoying them for many years to come. A design classic - wish I'd bought them years ago.

My father bought some of these when they first came out, and there are still two left! A bit worse for wear but then who isn't after sixty years. I bought them after becoming fed up with ordinary glasses that keep breaking and needing to be replaced. The tumblers are not indestructible, they will break but not in normal usage. They can clink together and even against sauce pans. They are tough. I dropped one one a hard kitchen floor and it survived. If you want glasses that will last then try these.

Excellent strong and durable glasses. Initially the 1st package arrived smashed to tiny pieces.... Customer services were prompt and courteous, replacing the glasses within a couple of days.I don't think the broken glasses were the fault of the company. I am more inclined to think it was the transition distribution centre not taking care with this product. These glasses are very difficult to smash, but the state of the 1st package was just a box of shattered glass!!Well done customer services!!

Great tumblers , leakproof, suitable for most liquids, easy to determine which way is up. What I like most about them is that being manufactured in France they are suitable for continental lagers and beers which are measured in centilitres That said I have found that if you are careful when pouring they are equally suitable for British beers and lagers even if they are measured in fluid ounces.

Fed up with breakages at home I decided to try these, based on the excellent write-ups. I am absolutely thrilled with them. They are nice to hold, look good and the first time I used one it was dropped on the floor before reaching the dishwasher. It bounced ! and that was on ceramic tiles ! I shall only be buying these in future and already have ordered smaller sized tumblers for juices etc.

These glasses are very sturdy - a few have been dropped onto the floor already but not a single one has broken. They're a nice weight and feel good to lift (not something I would have thought about had I not bought some ridged glasses that were horrible to drink from). One other very important benefit is that they don't fall over when they're washed in the dishwasher.

We've had three sizes of this glass for about twelve years, in daily use without casualty. They just do not break or chip. However a number of them got scrunched behind some furniture after a party - turned Ito little cubes of safety glass. Quite impressive. Can't believe how cheap these replacements were! Bought some for a friend.

These glasses are honestly the best I've ever bought , high quality and really thick glass , look good aswell . When you hold them you know there gonna last , remind me of the glasses we used to get in primary school , I'd highly recommend these bit more expensive than some you can find in the shops but there well worth it :) .

Very much the same quality as the 50cl...Nice glasses, not too heavy, not too light. Although they are not perfect there are some defects in a couple of the glasses, an air bubble or 2 and some places where it looks like the glass has run a bit. This robs them of 5 stars.Also Amazon packaging could have been a bit better.

these glasses are great, there's something a little nostalgic about duralex as most of us have childhood associations of drinking from these styles of glasses at school & i love them for that reason. these are a great size with room for ice & enough of whatever drink to quench your thirst.
