Truthfully, some kind of strange pleasure is at work when you drink from these glasses...anyway, I was originally going to buy each size separately, but found this one package. It's exactly what I wanted. The small size if perfect for deserts, small coffee drinks, while the medium and large size cover pretty much everything else you can think of.The glasses arrived in perfect condition, packed perfectly. Each glass was crystal clear and free from defects.Drinking from these glasses is one of those satisfying small victories that you somehow stumble onto from time to time. I don't really understand it, I just know it brings me great pleasure.From the way the glass feels in your hand,to the way the liquid touches your lips, this glass will make you appreciate something that you never even thought of before.Also, a huge bonus for me, I have 4 children and a wife that has been known to drop a glass or twelve. So the fact that these glasses are tempered, make them much more resistant to breaking, and if they do break, they break into small dull pieces...so in addition to looking like they belong in a design museum, they are safe too.If after you read this, you decide to buy these glasses, please let me know, so I can enjoy it as well!

We often drop and break glasses in my house and so we need to replace them pretty regularly, but I kept having an issue with the glass sets being discontinued. So this time I decided to go with something classic and easy to match when replacing. And now that we’ve broken a few, I am back here to order replacements... easy peasy and I don’t have to spend a lot on a whole new set.These glasses are pretty sturdy, they’ve only broken when dropped on the terrazzo floor. They are a nice shape and feel good to pickup. I like the different sizes. Good thickness. Flat, stable bottom (my last set was rounded and they tipped easily...not these!)A couple of the glasses had an uneven spot or bump on the rim that didn't feel nice when you ran your finger along it (wasn’t smooth, but not sharp either). I considered returning them due to that, however I decided against it. I’m glad I kept the glasses because it hasn’t been an issue at all... I think they smoothed out because I just checked the ones I have left and they’re all smooth at the rim. (We broke 4, one small and three large... I guess it’s possible those ones with the bump in the rim got broken already).Not perfect glasses, but overall really good!

I am not absolutely convinced what these are made from. They call it duralex glass, but something tells me it some sort of plastic mixed in there, by weight, thickness, and strength. There is no off taste so I don't really care. And they are, generally speaking, too small for my consuming needs and wants. They seem to be strong and pretty much what they advertise. I have... been rough with them. Not really on purpose. But when I get busy, time is... well... time. Money isn't involved, but doing something I don't want to be doing while not doing something I do want to be doing is annoying. So, I can rush. Not a chip, or crack. Not a problem. I also tend to send things through temp ranges I probably shouldn't.I have very thick glass mugs, which hold up well. I actually like the weight better, on thicker stuff, but I am down to two of those and when they are dirty, these will do. The mugs only last because they are six times thicker or such, than these glasses. Still, I am rather demanding of my gear, even the things that are (mostly) for guests, visitors, well-wishers, and other folks I would rather not have around. :p

I love these glasses because they're a classic French Cafe design, they nest, they are tempered and can go from ice water to boiled water without even a worry of shattering, are reasonably priced and come in several convenient sizes including a small set which nest in the top of their own water/wine/whatever carafe. The Duralex company is a very old company which perfected the process of glass tempering in France after WWII: if you have a Duralex set from the 1950's they're likely still in one piece to this day, although probably scratched a bit, because these are some of the toughest glasses I've ever used so I finally broke down and put together a set as a gift to our house.I recommend them to any person who likes old school, solid, "approved -by-Martha Stewart-type" kitchen stuff that just works well. It's a good thing. ;-) The Marine color is sharper and bluer than the picture above: the picture does the color no justice. My only complaint is I wish the larger sizes were more widely available in the Marine and Amber colors.

I order a set and while it was packed very well one of the large tumblers broke. I called customer service before I opened the box to tell them that at leas one glass was broken and to ask how they wanted to handle the problem. They sent me six new large glasses. When I opened the box one of six was broken. These glasses are durable and difficult to break. Never stake them when if they are hot or warm out of the dishwasher. As they cool at different rates pressure builds up and can cause a glass to break, They break with a loud pop and a unusually neat pile of glass is left to clean up. I can't describe this accurately.I've been using these for over 25 years and have only broken a few because they are exceptionally durable but when they break they make this loud popping noise and instead of sharp glass shards you are left with small cube shaped pieces that you can clean up by hand though I would not suggest doing this. Has anyone else had the experience of hearing and watching one of these glasses "explode"?

I bought a set of 3 different size Picardie glasses to go with my much-loved 40-year old, 10-1/2 oz Picardie glasses. Why didn't I do this 38 years ago? Well, no Amazon back then & all I could find was the one size.The set is a good variety of sizes & could easily be the only glasses you'd need in a kitchen. Note that the sizes given are measured up to the top of the glass rim, thus the 8-3/4 oz glass serves approximately 6 oz, etc.I've had both hot & cold beverages in my Duralex over the years, have never taken any particular pains with how I've washed & stored them, & they still look good, though there's an obvious difference between the old ones & the new. But even my teenagers,who somehow managed to break a 2-cup pyrex glass measuring cup, were never able to break my Duralex.There's a reason these glasses are a classic: attractive & virtually unbreakable in daily life, they're as close to perfect as you'll get in drinking glasses.

I recently purchased another brand from an online home goods retailer...when they arrived, I was so disappointed. The glass was thick and hazy--that is, cheapo! It was a company that used to have a good reputation in the U. S., but no more! I packed them back up & gave them to a neighbor with a lot of kids--they don't need "fancy" drinking glasses at this stage. I then went back to Amazon and bought these French-made glasses. They're lighter, the glass is delicate, and they're well-crafted. All the sizes I need and use. Much classier. (I'm trying to eliminate as much plastic from my life as possible--maybe it makes sense to use plastic cups for young children and for some bathroom products,but our environment doesn't need more everlasting plastic. And maybe kids will get the idea that everything shouldn't be disposable, like styrofoam!) If I had company more often, I'd go for crystal; these are nice everyday glassware.

I did a lot of research before I bought these glasses. I was super frustrated with a series of glass purchases that just didn’t work out, mostly due to a lot of breakage and yet it took me a long time to buy These because I was being a design snob. I like my glasses to look and feel a certain way. I passed over the Duralex glass items so many times because they weren’t my aesthetic. I bought a different brand and inevitably found myself back surfing again for more everyday glasses. I just couldn’t find good quality (sleek aesthetic, yes. Excellent quality, no). I finally stopped and read some reviews here on Amazon about Duralex Glassware and watched the video and Voila! I made the purchase.Wow! These glasses are truly The Best everyday glasses I have ever owned. Cute, functional, Durable and good size options. After using them and seeing how lovely they look on a set table, lesson learned....they are sleek!

Shipping took FOREVER -- one of only a few times that has happened with Prime. Next time I would order direct from Duralex b/c their warehouse is apparently in Delaware. Instead I had to wait for them to ship from Delaware to Amazon's location in CT and back to Pennsylvania. THAT SAID, these glasses were absolutely worth the wait. I didn't believe the glowing reviews about how nice these are to drink from, but they were spot on. Drinking lots more water now just b/c the glasses feel good. Swear the water tastes better. And the small size is perfect for my not-quite-four-year-old. Compared to these, my old glasses feel like you could shatter them by squeezing too hard.I'm sure eventually they will get more brittle and etched from the dishwasher, but they are starting on a totally different plane than any glasses I've used before.

We got these to replace our more delicate glasses that break in the dishwasher. These are great to look at, low maintenance, and have this cool unexpected lip at the end that makes it really easy to drink from. The glasses can go on the lower rack of the dishwasher no problem. After going through a set of Kate Spade Deco Dots in a year and a set of Libbey HIghballs over 2, I wish we had just started off with these as they are clearly going to last for years and years. I don't think we're even that hard on our china, but little drops and mistakes happen, and these look like they can really withstand them. It fits with both our everyday and fine china sets, and guests like them.The set has a small juice glass, the medium glass can hold a 12oz soda fine, and the large glass is great for water. Very impressed.

Best glasses ever! I mean really, who gets excited about glasses?! Well now, I do. They are heavy, but in a wonderful way. Like I drink from them and wonderful if I deserve such a lovely, Paris-ish feeling. My husband said they felt good in his hand. Who says that about a glass?! But these are special. And they're sturdy. One reason I bought them was to see if i could have a glass glass that I could possibly not break in the first week. Well, I've bounced 2 of them against the sink and no breaks yet. So smooth. and nice size as well. I would be the person in the group wondering why anyone would fuss over a glass ...until now. These are beautiful, elegant, sturdy feeling, smooth as silk,and somehow unique, but simple.

It took two tries, but these glasses are great. I was nervous after reading other reviews, but I ordered anyway. As soon as I picked up the box, I knew there was a problem -- I could hear the shattered glass rattling around. I made sure to order from Amazon because I knew their Support would take care of any issue. They sent a new set (they have to send the whole set rather than just one glass replacement), and, thankfully, no broken glasses in the second order.The problem is the inner box with the glasses has no padding at all -- just a few cardboard separaters and the glasses are stacked together. This box is placed in a bigger box for shipping,and there is super padding there but it just doesn't help.

I love these. They are classic and heavy without being too heavy. Don't be fooled though. They will break and chip if you treat them like plastic. I just wanted something that didn't break easily, but I didn't take into account that I live with 3 boys that epitomize Bull in a China closet so I can't blame the glasses. In a normal home they'd be totally amazing. Will continue to buy more as my men brake them. I got multiple sizes. Probably didnt need the smallest size, but hey, when it's time to shots (which almost never happens) great size for mixed shots, and good for emergen-C's which probably happen more often than the shots, but definitely after if shots are done.

I have had the 8 3/4 oz glasses for awhile and wanted a few more as well as some larger glasses. I received this in a well packed box and all the glasses were perfectly in tact. I love Picardie glasses because they are classic and feel good in your hand. They don't look out of place for a nice dinner but are also durable enough that I use them every day. I think the 8 3/4 oz glasses are perfect for everyday use. I plan to use the 12 oz for ice tea and the 16 oz for protein shakes and such.Another great thing about Picardie is that if you break some you know you can replace it with the same thing. You can't say the same thing for the glasses you buy in Target.

They stack, but the big negative is they don't stack tightly like the photos.Upside: These indeed bounced on hardwood and even took a fall on tile without chipping.We feel like dorks, but these delight us. Nice to hold in the hand. Good for wine, juice, water, cocktails, etc.We are planning to give these to family members as college graduation gifts; this set is so very flexible, can be dressed up semi-fancy but still good for everyday use. We just gave my sister a set for her birthday, and she agrees they are great. And we really like that you can buy replacements singly, or can expand your collection with more sizes that will still match.
