After getting into things like the Mystery Case Files collection - Dire Grove and Ravenhearst etc, I was attracted to Drawn (and it's sequal) as it is made by the same people and I wanted to see if it were as good. And I wasn't disappointed - far from it.Drawn is one of the most beautiful games I've had the privilage to play on PC/laptop. The graphics are almost fluid and rather sad at times. The sort of black and white or tinted colour schemes create a wonderful melancholy sort of atmosphere throughout the game, but then you have the contrast of these beautiful paintings that Iris has made. They have a charming, tranquil quality to them and they are very colourful, but by no means garish.Once I got over the initial 'wow' of the game's appearance, I got on with the story and, again, I found it moving, sad, intriguing. The whole thing feels like it is full of regret and very haunted by past events. There aren't many exciting or comical moments in it - even the little comments and thoughts that the control-character throws at you are more serious. Iris's world is incredible - the lengths of imagination really do know no bounds and I loved her particular brand of magic. Alright, she's not the first character to bring pictures to life - but the idea was taken and it was handled in a way that I can't say I've ever seen before. There was no jaunty, chirpy music - it was very subtle and not distracting at all, but it's also quite a soothing soundtrack when you're listening to it. I'm hoping I can find it on CD or something somewhere as it really is pretty music. :o)The only flaw really is that it doesn't take that long to play - it would've been nice to have been given more time and more puzzles etc as it didn't feel like a complete game. But then, like I said, the amount of game you do get, is very beautiful, intriguing, often complicated etc and you do get your money's worth. The only problem I had with the game was that it tended to crash quite a few times, meaning I had to actually shut down my computer and reload it to continue playing. I did look at all the help and advice on the Big Fish website - reloading, Dxdiag stuff and card-readers etc, and followed their instructions, but for some reason I couldn't fix it, but I'm not complaining about it too much as it didn't stop me playing the game. But it'd be unfair to give this product 5 stars as it would be nice to play it continuously without crashing and messing about.

This is a point and click adventure where the player has to first fix then enter paintings to find and solve puzzles in order to progress up the tower to save the girl. All the artwork is stylish and simple but that's not to say it is childish - far from it. Both the backgrounds and paintings have a magical beauty about them and are a pleasure to the eye. Each scene has animated elements and they are also well done. The artwork is further complimented by the beautiful music score which is quite atmospheric as are the incidental sounds. Each element shows that a lot of time, effort and skill went into the production and taken all together it makes for a wonderful experience. There are a only few mini games and they range in difficulty. Most of them can eventually be skipped if need be.The hints are unlimited and take quite a while to recharge. As this is not a hidden object game the hints consist of clues as to what to do next but these clues are limited.Like other games in this genre they are times when other areas and pictures have to be revisited to obtain objects or complete a task. Having said this, there is far less coming and going than in most games of this ilk. There are a number of cut scenes to tell the story and they cannot be skipped but they are short. I liked the narrator's voice which was rich and full and sounded like some old, wise, grandfather figure. The voice acting is of the same high quality as the artwork and music and, to me, sounded very reminiscent of the late, great John Houseman (it was actually Paul Bicknell).Although the game play is quite simple I feel this was a game designed for adults rather than children as it is unlikely that very young minds would find much in it of interest. The artwork and music would also be wasted on someone not old enough to appreciate it.The only negative point I can give is that there was simply not enough of it as it can be completed in just a few hours. I have not deducted a star for this though as the game was too enjoyable.

The gameplay on this point and click adventure was very inviting. The graphics were stunning and the pictures which were an integral part of the adventure were a pleasure to look at.The object of the game was to rescue a girl from a tower and involved finding items and solving puzzles. There were lots of hints which were readily available should you need them. One gripe was that some of the puzzles could be bypassed if they proved to be too dificult: the brain was allowed a holiday! Any puzzle that did get missed in this way was only available to play again by having to start the adventure from the beginning. Either make them mandatory or make them available at the end of the adventure. The game moved quickly and felt a little short. The end left the way open for a sequel. So, more sumptuous pictures please and a little more game play would make an eagerly awaited second adventure.

A fun adventure game for older children (7+ not 3+ as suggested on this page) and adults alike. Beautiful and imaginative graphics, a "fairy-tale" storyline which is quite humourful at times - the Witch Doctor is cute! - and puzzles I would rate moderate to difficult.A mixture of finding hidden objects and knowing how / where to use them (mini puzzles) to move forward in the game.I really like the characters and little worlds that are accessed via paintings. The farm, witch doctor and dragon are favourites. If you get stuck - as I often do - just do a net search for an appropriate "walkthrough".I wouldn't say this is a game of short duration as one reviewer comments - rather a pleasant distraction into fantasy worlds,of several hours, to wind down with at the end of a stressful day!

I bought this game for no other reason other than it wasn't a hidden object game. Like some of the other reviewers, I feel that the hidden object games are everywhere and for me shouldn't be classed as gaming. Anyway, there were no problems loading the game and I was hooked as soon as the doors opened and I entered the building. The game is beautifully made. The background music isn't intrusive or overpowering. To me it's a wonderfully colourful and enchanting game where you have to enter pictures that the little girl has drawn and solve puzzles, ventually working your way up to the top of the tower. It would have been brilliant had the game been longer but for anyone who is considering buying it,think along the lines of Azada - another excellent game. I'd definitely recommend this.

Ambience: As many others have said, this game is worth buying purely for the art and the atmosphere.Gameplay and Puzzles: With all the hinting of 'some characters might hinder you' and 'trust no one' I would have expected more controversy and potential for decision making, but that's not offered at all. The game has a straight 'storyline' and all items are used. I didn't want to skip any puzzles, but even so they rarely took me longer than five minutes to solve. There are some lovely classic puzzles which made me happy.Play time: I played this in a couple of hours, if you enjoy problem solving games then this will most likely be a walk in the park. This is a game to enjoy with some thinking, but nothing that will give you a headache. Which is nice.

I enjoy adventure games like Myst and its sequels and Schizm II so I thought that this one would be a bit simple and childish and to start with it appeared so. But as the game progressed I began to enjoy the amazing wonderful scenes and the puzzles. Some puzzles were quite difficult since one had first of all to figure out what to do and then set about getting the solution. There is a small element of finding objects but this did not in anyway spoil the adventure. Whilst it is not on the same level as Myst etc it is still a very enjoyable adventure game. For all ages, teenage and upwards. This game is well worth the money and the 5 stars.

This is tricky! A beautifully rendered story but with challenging tasks throughout. I still haven't finished it...I've bought a few of these types of games now and they've been popular with all ages in my family, from 5 to 65 year olds. It's not high tech but it's strangely compelling and hugely entertaining. It draws the family around you as they all want to join in.It can be annoying when people are reading over your shoulder but it's a testament to the level of entertainment these games and similar ones can give.If you haven't tried any of these types of games, try this and you'll be pleasantly surprised.

I thoroughly enjoyed playing this game & would recommend it to others, but it loses one star from me as in my opinion it just wasn't long enough. This isn't a game you could really play over again as you could with the hidden object games from the same creators as locations and puzzles will be the same for each play. That aside, the graphics were beautiful, loved the idea - not a million miles away from the film "What Dreams May Come", and many of the puzzles were challenging enough to contemplate hitting the "skip" button or seek out the walkthrough guide.

I enjoyed this game. I've played lots of Hidden Object games in the past but never one like this. It starts off quite spooky and the melancholy music keeps it in that vein. I think I enjoyed the anticipation of it - never knowing what the next scene would hold. The graphics are stunning and I didn't want it to end - but there is still the desperation to get to the top of the tower and save Iris. The puzzles are very clever and I really liked this game. it would be great if it was longer. Roll on the sequel!!!!

The story is very imaginative, pushing that extra mile to stand out and create a captivating atmosphere. You basically click on massive oil paintings in a creepy old tower which then spring to life. The imagination that has gone in to all of this really is brilliant. There is always plenty to do such as solve puzzles, find hidden objects and interact with plenty of quirky characters along the way.I am the hardest guy to please with computer games, but this game really does appeal.

Please see my review for this game and Drawn 2: Dark Flight on the product page for the combined Drawn 1 & 2 disc: http://www.amazon.co.uk/review/R34BE8EF6M5DPG/ref=cm_cr_pr_perm?ie=UTF8&ASIN=B0047GNXXE&nodeID=&tag=&linkCode=The two-in-one set is now basically the same price as this, so I recommend getting them both together. After you finish Drawn, you'll be itching for more! These games are extraordinary, and I wish there were more of this caliber on the market.

I have always enjoyed playing the hidden object games. They start off good but after a while its the same thing and I end up loosing interest.I had looked at Drawn several times and was unsure if to get it or not..I am so glad i did. If you like hidden object games or tasks that make you use your brain then this is the one for you..its fun, it helps when you havent got a clue, and it keeps your interest from start to finish..hope there will be a follow on.

An absolute gem. I thoroughly enjoyed it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!It was brilliant all the way through - one of the best games I have played for a long time. The storyline was excellant the clues brilliant. Made you think and it was logical. Must admit I did have to cheat a couple of times! A typical point and click game. Everything for the us point and click fans. Can't rate is too highly. I hope you will go out and buy it - you won't be disappointed.

I loved this game I am fed up with typical hidden object games that are flooding the market but this one is great. It wasn't just looking for things it was an amazing story-line with excellent graphics. There is so much to see and do and I like to think I am a quick player of these types of games but even if you used the hint button it has at least probably 8 hours of gameplay. For the price it is well worth a go!
