This was to replace a bench disc sander powered by my electric drill. I had found it such a useful sander for all types of DIY.The Draper Sander was more expensive than some advertised but I have had Draper tools previously and always been pleased with the quality. It arrived as promised and first impressions was of how heavy the box was. Small amount of assembly required.A problem was found with the disc sanding angle plate. It was too large and there was not any clearance between disc and plate. It was very easy to contact the Draper help line who said there was obviously a fault in the casting and would I return the sander for their inspection.

I've had the sander for a few months now and for the ordinary diy-er it is more than adequate and better than my former drill driven disc sander. I wanted a sander with a good disc size but not too expensive so the belt sander is an added bonus. The sander is heavy and sturdy and for normal work can be used free standing - just let the sander do the work. I've bolted mine to a short length of scaffolding plank which I just stand on a table or work-mate, so the sander can be used on-site if necessary. My only misgiving was that I might find the self-adhesive sanding discs difficult to replace. However, I found it relatively easy to pull off the sanding disc,

been after one of these for a while and finally bit the bullet and went for this one. One of the few I have found that actually comes with the back guard on the belt which is a great help when squaring off items. Only one small gripe, the supplied belt had a bit of a ridge where it had been joined which tended to make life interesting when doing the sanding, but purchased some more belts which seem a lot better and I am now sanding anything I can get my hands on. brilliant bit of kit and would thoroughly recommend. Do make sure you connect it to some sort of dust extraction system though as it does make a heck of a lot of very fine dust and will cover your shed or workshop in no time.

First one received was faulty. Steel guard binding on sanding disk (may have been damaged in transit). Replacement was fine. Have used several times both belt and disk - very effective and robust machine. Had trouble finding a way to connect dust outlet to my own extractor owing to the unusual outlet size - Suspect it is designed to encourage you to buy Draper dust extractor. One other consideration is that it is oriented for mounting at the left hand end of a bench to optimise access to both belt and disk. It is not feasible for me to mount at that end and consequently have mounted on a base that I can spin and lock in place according to whether I am using disk or belt.

I bought this as I do small woodworking jobs regularly since retiring. It does everything I need it to. My only problem was finding replacement 6 inch sanding discs with hook and loop fastening and no holes in. I am now having to use the discs with holes in but they seem to work ok. Needless to say I suppose, but it does create a tremendous amount of dust so would have thought a dust bag a desirable addition, even if I had to pay a bit more for it. It's relatively quiet and reassuringly heavy so stays put in use. Recommended.

Can't believe I have made do with sanding disc attachment for drill and turning hand belt sander upside down on the work bench for so long.Had to file out thick paint from mitre slot on work rest for smooth movement of mitre, but anybody who likes their work shop likes to fiddle.Dust extraction adequate and 100% better than what I was using before.

I agree with some reviewers that some of the components aren’t the highest quality, but that was quickly remedied with some minor adjustments during initial setup. It’s not the best bench sander available, but it doesn’t have the highest price either. I think it’s great for the sort of hard DIY use I give it.

This item I got several weeks ago & it is great for the odd job type of diy'er. It is a lot larger than the photo implies so do check the dimension before hand.No idea @ this time how much it will cost to replace the grit sheets. But it suites my needs very well.

A well priced powerful sander with the added benefit of having a 200mm sanding disc (other sanders in its class have 150mm discs) couple this with the attachment you can buy to turn the disc into excepting hook and loop replacement discs and it's a great buy.

Great product and service. ...Bought to ssnd resin sculpture bases for hughes-lubeck....dont think that's a recommended use but works great. Would recommend using a vacuum dust collector though as does create a lot of waste.great delivery time too.

Arrived the next day on free postage so it's hard to fault the service. For the price it is a good machine and so far has done everything I would expect. If I needed one again I would probably make the same choice.

Not bad for the money, the only problem is the side angel table for the rotary disk is not moulded properly, the buyer will need to do a bit of filing in order to get it to fit and adjust correctly.

Works very well, easy to change belts and allign.Superb tool for usage of both hands while crafting finer, more delicate thingsGreat product.Would definitely recommend.

When we got a replacement, my husband wanted exactly the same model, which he had been using extensively for at least 25 years. This should be good testimony enough!

This a direct replacement as hard use had eventually destroyed the original. They are robust and couldn't do without it for wood and metal plastic.
