The quality of this saw is dissappointing. The lower blade guide casting was not machined correctly therefore the blade guides were not parallel to the blade, regardless of how they were adjusted. (The lower blade guide on my saw is different to the one illustrated in the hand book.)The lower blade back thrust bearing cannot be brought forward sufficiently to support 1/4" blades as the hand book says it should be able to. The brass spindle on which the back thrust bearing is mounted is just too short; it will not extend forward enough to come anywhere near the back edge of a 1/4" blade! The upper blade gaurd was poorly filed and whilst one side had a clean 90 degree cut-in the other had a crudelyradiused cut-in that did not allow sufficient clearance for the upper blade guide bearings to be adjusted forward. Even a 10mm blade could not be supported by the upper blade back thrust bearing as the poorly profiled upper blade gaurd was obstructive. The upper blade back thrust bearing cannot be adjusted sufficiently to support 1/4" blades. The hand book lists the blades compatible with the saw and the list includes 1/4" blades, however it is not possible to bring the back thrust bearing forward enough because the brass spindle is too short. The upper blade guide and back thrust bearing mounting casting is held in position by two short self tapping screws. This casting was loose when received and when I saw how short the screws were it was obvious why the casting was loose. The screws are course self tappers, so no machined thread on either screw or blade gaurd extrusion, it is all very low grade and short life-time engineering and when tightened, sensitively, one of the screws appeared to have no grip in the extruded blade gaurd slot. This seems a poor way to mount and secure the casting that holds the blade guides and supports the blade back thrust bearing, as they are likely to have to work hard in service. The original cardboard packaging was thrown away when the saw was first unpacked, indeed with the saw weighing 65Kg the packaging was cut away from the saw as it was not possible to lift the saw out of the packaging. So now I have a saw that is poorly made and a dissappointment and which I would not be able to re-pack if I went through the "Return item" process.I searched Amazon for any way to "Contact the seller" but cannot find one. For other purchases I see a button in the summary of orders marked "Contact seller" but not on the Draper saw order. I can't see how to contact Amazon either so it appears the only action open to me is to write a detailed product review.Having decided to fix he saw and live with it I re-machined the lower blade casting to make the lower blade guides parallel to the blade, which fixed that problem and I partially re-profiled the upper blade guide to allow the upper blade guide bearings to be moved forward, however the current design would not allow enough metal to be removed without fear of weakening the extrusion, so I didn't fix that problem, therefore the back thrust bearing still cannot be brought far enough forward for 1/4" blades.I cant see a way to strengthen the upper blade guide bearing casting as the use of self tapper screws seems to be the only way of securing it with the current poor design of extrusion, so that problem hasn't gone away either. The Draper name has traditonally been a decent one and their products are quite decent in general, based on my past experience of them. I am going to contact Draper direct and see if they can supply me with correctly machined parts so that I can get the saw into reasonable condition and keep it, however I feel I must warn other potential buyers of these short falls.Close-up photos of all deficient parts available.Purchased new from Amazon
