I like adventure games and they're getting harder to find. This one was an unexpected gem. Artwork is superb, take some time to look around the scenes there's no 'mist' to hide the roof or the distance, everything looks great. There are plenty of puzzles, once or twice I thought that there were puzzles for the sake of having puzzles but that's what I paid my money for so I wasn't too upset. The puzzles are good ones too. It's a decent sized game, must have taken 40 hours of gameplay or thereabouts. There is action of a sort but it's not the fast ' furious sort you get with Indiana Jones. You do get to kill a few vampires but there's plenty of time to work out how.We got stuck twice, once because we missed something and once because we couldn't work out the right order to a puzzle. The game will kill you off so I recommend saving quite often. I didn't find any dead ends, ways in which you could get to a point where you couldn't proceed because I'd missed something and couldn't go back to get it. The game seemed to deliberately prevent you doing this so a door would remain closed until you found everything you needed to proceed. This could confuse the less experienced player because there's no obvious connection between finding an item and a doorway becoming accessible. Still you can't have everything. Another reviewer mentioned the end piece. This closes the game nicely and adds to the cimenatic feel. Did I say the game was really good to look at ?

The first game was good........but this one is better! The addition of the "Game Over" element made this edition more enjoyable. The graphics are good (except Jonathon walks like a woman!)and the animated sequences well delivered. Some environments are a bit too dark but, on the whole, a great game for people who prefer thinking games to shoot-em-ups!

Lovely old adventure game. Yes it is a bit linear but I still enjoyed playing. At times the screen was so dark that I had to resort to a walkthough to see what I should be doing. The game worked fine eventually on my old XP using the tip from a previous reviewer to use Windows 98 mode but the same didn't work on my new Windows 10.
