Check that your DeWalt machine is compatible with the DeWalt AIRLOCK system of adapters - it will have a tubular twist-fit dust outlet.The parallel outlet nozzle of this hose adapter has an OUTSIDE diameter of about 1.86 inches (47 mm) but you need to know that it is intended for use with a nominal 1.25 inch (32 mm) bore spiral-bound hose, as is found on many vacuum cleaners, such as the 'Henry' range. Expensive, but brilliant. The ball bearings you can see engage in a slot on the DeWalt saw dust outlet and are locked/unlocked by twisting the wide part in relation to the narrow part by about 15mm.They also grip a piece of 42mm OD waste pipe that I use to collect the dust on my bandsaw, sander, and router so I now have a multi-purpose quick connector to feed my home made cyclone separator.If you have a fixed dust collection installation then probably too expensive for what you get. If, like me, you are working in half a single garage and have mobile kit that needs to be connected and disconnected all the time then this is definitely worth considering.

but a system that works - I can use it for three out of my 4 dealt tools. It attaches directly to the vacuum hose - as the hose will screw directly into the back of it. good connections all round.

Excellent product. Use it with my DeWalt multitool. Fits beautifully onto the hose of a Henry Hoover without cutting it (32mm diameter). Worth the expense.

When using the Dewalt, sander and planer it is absolutely necessary to attach to a vacuum cleaner or risk spreading dust and shavings everywhere!!
