My wife bought this for me for an anniversary present and I'd previously only had the 12-year old (probably my favourite scotch) and it's hard to say which is better because they are surprisingly different. The 12-year is taken straight from the ex-bourbon white oak casks, whereas the 15-year is transferred into ex-sherry casks for the final three years of its life and you really can tell the difference, it's not just age. The 15-year smells and tastes quite different but still retains a component of the 12-year bourbon flavour (but the sherry cask goes a long way to changing the overall flavour)If you come from a very bourbon-background and wanting to move towards scotch, then probably go for the 12-year (but similarly I doubt you'd be disappointed by the 15-year)I think on balance I prefer the 12-year but there's not much in it - this is really a very good scotch and I will happily drink my way through the bottle

Get past a couple of bugbears and the Dalmore 15 is a real treat. Firstly the negatives: a £50+ bottle of scotch really should come in at cask strength (43% minimum), should be non-chill filtered and shouldn't have to rely on caramel for its colour. It also shows a marked deterioration in flavour once it's been been opened for a while. I opened my first bottle in the run upto Christmas, drank about half, then returned to it at the beginning of summer, and the difference in tasting notes were acute - basically they'd all but dissipated. On the plus side, open a bottle on the first day of Christmas, finish it on the twelfth, and you'll be rewarded with a whisky that is tremendously rich and spicy, oozing dried fruit flavours and perfectly complimenting the season.

The taste of a whisky is a very personal experience, and this review is based on my personal taste. I'm not going to be pretentious about it and talk about 'nose' and 'arrival' and' finish'.Delivery was as good as ever from amazon. Packaging was excellent. The whisky itself is very good. So why 4 stars? Because its not as good as the 12 year old Dalmore, which is silky smooth and almost delicate on the tongue. The 15 is harsher. If I'd tried the 15 first perhaps it would be a five star, but because the 12 was so good, the 15 had to be exceptional, and it isn't. But don't be put off by my review. Try the Dalmore 15 and the 12 and make your own mind up.

Well, for the age and money, probably one of my first choices out of any whisky on the market, also one of my first choices out of the Dalmore range! Expect quality and rich wonderful flavors such as Christmas-cake, raisins, dark cherries, cinnamon and nutmeg. The smell is easy, and you will keep having a sniff, if you're new to this whiskey and don't like it, well you wont like whisky at all, this is a lovely dropDalmore 15 it is worth every penny, this particular one beats a lot of 18 year old whiskies in every shape and form.

Being a Whiskey drinker of anything from Talisker 10 - Macallans Rare cask and beyond, I’d say that Dalmore 15, lives up to expectations. I paid £56.90 which I think is reasonable for the smoothness, flavour and age. This whiskey has a lovely strong amber colour, is warm and a little spicy on the nose, and has a lovely Christmas cake finish. It is very unique in it’s price range and definitely worth a try. Dalmore 15 is a welcomed addition to my whiskey collection and I shall enjoy trying more.

My personal preference is for a heavy peaty malt, for example Ardbeg, Laguvlin, this however is a most delicious, smooth single malt, mellow with a richness that is perfectly balanced with an intoxicating nose, a nice sip will leave that beatiful aftertaste tantalising your tastebuds, truly a lovely malt for the price, I would say better than many of the more expensive malts I have had the pleasure of keeping company with. Buy this mal, you will not be diisappointed.

I try to take my motorcycle up to Scotland each year as the roads are a joy to ride, the scenery stunning, the food (especially the seafood at Applecross) sublime and... the single malt a bit special too! My preference is for the sweeter, fruity and less smoky malts with this being my current favourite and far smoother than even Dalmore's 12 year old. It's not cheap at nearly twice the price of a Talisker (a previous favourite) but some things are worth paying for.

Delivery was very prompt but unfortunately the box was damaged and as it was for a very special birthday present I had to return it. This was a very simple process and a replacement was delivered the very next day. I haven't actually sampled the contents of this bottle as it was a gift....but have previously received this as a gift myself and it is very very good! The bottle itself is quite a statement and we will definitely order again.

Dalmore receives its fair share of criticism for its adding of colour, and the steep price jumps from 12-15 isn't anything to scoff at. That said, this is like being around the Christmas table when desserts come out. You get that christmas pudding smell immediately, and toffee, with much more. I've tried the 12 and I find that one to be a little better, so if you'd rather save your cash, the 12 is (subjectively) better value for money.

Well I've had this for a good few months and saved it as I thought it would be a good whisky. Suns out and say in the garden and I thought I'd like a dram, none left in the garage so thought just open it. Wasn't disappointed at all! You can smell chocolate, orange and fruitcake and the taste is d. lish. Well worth the money, I bought it for 40 with the two glasses so that was a bargain. Yeah go for it, lovely!!!

An exceptionally smooth drop, richly flavoured - I personally get a very dried fruit, especially raisin flavour. It's definitely got a Christmas pudding / mince pie thing going on, although without the deeper spicy notes. This is my personal favourite whisky. I also found this pairs exceptionally well with a cigar, so worth trying alongside the Dalmore Cigar Malt, if you're in to that kind of thing.

I'm a great fan of Dalmore whiskies and rate this as probably their best all-rounder, striking a good balance between price and flavour. The 18yr old is smoother and has a little more depth of flavour but at double I tend to get the 15 out more often. If I could only stock one brand of Whisky in the cabinet it would be Dalmore. If I could add a second brand it would be Macallan.

I tried some through a friend. It's the whisky that made me fall in love with malts. It really cleanses your taste buds. Do not! I repeat Do not drink with coke! This is a whisky you can only truly appreciate being straight. Plus even if you're a Jack Daniels lover, this will put things in new perspectives. I can't wait to treat myself to a bottle for those, cold winter days.

Living up to the Dalmore brand. This is a great whisky, smooth and with strong notes of caramel and dried fruits. A real Christmassy dram, it just brings that warm feeling. Not the best whisky you’ll taste, but at £40 on a lightning deal you’d struggle to find better at the price point.

A fine single malt. The complexities build with a couple of drops of water. Orange, chocolate, raisins.. it's sweet on the nose thanks to the sherry cask finish but there's a deeper rich earathy note when held on the tongue. This is a true great and will appeal to a wide palate.
