This is a high quality roomy bag with plenty of well proportioned compartments and practical features; however, it is not the same as the older version 101 which I already have and is still in great condition after 3 years of daily use for secondary school.What makes this particular variant (Storm) appeal to me most is the 200D ripstop nylon and the weatherproof coating, making it possibly more dirt and water repellent compare to the standard polyester variants.In terms of features, I much prefer the older version because of these features:1. It has a wide & deep padded pocket in the main large compartment which can be used to store a laptop as another option or to separate other belongings within the compartment.New version is just an empty compartment.2. The carrying handle appears better constructed and more robust.3. Shoulder straps are constructed more solidly with fabric yoke between them. They are also slightly narrower, more padded and sit more at an angle, whereas the new version straps are wider, less padded and run more in a straight line down the front.4. Front vertical zipper is hidden behind a flap to prevent thieves from easy access, while the new one has exposed zipper.This current version does have a few added perks but they are not that important to me.1. There is now a smaller slip pocket in the Laptop Compartment for a tablet or wires, the previous version has none.2. Side pouch zipper is now reversed to enable easier access when the bag is on the back, but items may easily fall out if the zipper is accidentally left undone.3. The indentation on the padded air mesh panels are deeper, I suspect this construction will make the back cooler compare to the flatter old version.Although I personally prefer the old version because the main stress points appear more solidly constructed, this new version is still a fantastic bag capable of handling heavy load for travel, everyday use, work or college. In comparison to other similar bags on the current market, this 101 is still unbeatable for value, high quality construction, proportional compartments and the well though out handy added features.

Great pack with plenty of compartments! Quality and construction look great. Material seems durable! I got the black color, which is actually like a dark grey... which I'm actually quite happy with.Pros:There's plenty of compartmentsThere's plenty of compartments!There's plenty of compartments!!Love the fact that there's a mesh drink holder on one side, and a zipper compartment on the other. I always thought that 2 mesh drink holders was a waste.There's an AWESOME security pocket in the back of the bag. Really going to love that when I travel!Cons:I can't really hold it against the bag itself, since I'm thinking maybe it just doesn't work perfectly for my body (I'm 5'10" 165 lbs)but the straps on this bag seems to kind of sit wide on my shoulders, so that without the sternum strap on it constantly feels like they're going to fall off my shoulders.The strap buckles are kind of loose. They're perfectly fine when you're wearing the bag and the weight is loaded, but without the friction from the weight, they're always slipping around. I never really had that problem with my Ogio.This bag is wide! I wear 32" waist pants, and this bag is wider than my waist. It's kind of weird to walk around with a bag that wide.All in all - I think because it's a pretty solid bag overall, I can get used to the cons. 4 stars!

Dakine makes good stuff. They have a lifetime warranty, too, so they stand behind their product. I got this for school and every day life, mainly due to the laptop compartment AND tablet pocket. It looks pretty slick, too. Only thing i don't like is the organizer panel. They used to be a lot better. It's a good-sized area, but they mash everything together, and the pen slots are short. I like something substantial, as weird as that might sound. It also makes it bulky with the way they layered the pen slots in front of the second fleece-lined pocket. There's enough room where they can space things out, so I wish they would. They also don't fleece-line the side zipper pocket.That used to be a nice electronics pocket, but not really anymore. Otherwise, it's a good bag: sturdy, spacious, stylish. Not too shabby.

I was very careful when looking for a new bag. My criteria were stylish/modern/classy enough for work in an office, a laptop sleeve, tablet sleeve, pen slots, water bottle slot, huge pockets for books, comfortable, and a chest strap. This bag nailed it. It looks so nice. The material is top notch. It's nice and heavy material that will last, not thin or flimsy. I can fit my iPad, macbook, enough books for 4 classes, and still have plenty of room. I'm a big guy, think defensive lineman big, and it fits me just fine and would fit me just fine if I dropped 100lbs. It's a great bag. Don't hesitate. I almost went for an Ogio, but for the price this bag can't be beat. No regrets whatsoever.

Excellent backpack! This is the 2nd one I've owned (previous one lasted me years, with virtually no wear and tear), and it's been around the world with me dozens and dozens of times. The layout is fantastic, with dedicated pockets for laptop, sunglasses, pens, business cards, etc. I'm also a massive fan of the privacy pocket against your back, for storing things like passports and important documents.The design updates they've made since my previous one are great. The laptop pocket has been adjusted (no longer worried about my laptop falling out and crashing to the ground) and the addition of a tablet pouch in the main pocket is fantastic.

I don't even know where to start, the bag is a very good quality, I have no doubt about that. I have had it well over a year and it still looks like new. It is quite heavy though and unless you genuinely plan to carry your laptop in the bag, I would chose a different model. The laptop and tablet compartments also somehow reduce the space in the bag and despite that it is a very big bag its capacity does not live up to its size. Read carefully about all gadgets this bag has and consider if you really need them, if not, go for a simpler, lighter model. Dakine in itself though is quality, quality, quality.

I love this backpack! I had another one- same model - used heavily for 6 years and it still looks like new (I even washed it in the washing machine). I bought this new one because I wanted a different color. I just used it as a carry-on and daypack for travel. I especially like the ‘secret’ zip pocket in the back where I can securely keep my passport and boarding passes. The lined glasses pocket also keeps my reading glasses easily available. I use every pocket in this pack and it keeps me organized, helping me to keep track of things and not forget anything along the way.

A modern replacement for a very old Dakine backpack that had seen amazing service over many years (used every weekend for rugby away games with the kids, long days out on the moors with the dog and many overseas trips). This new one seems to be the exact same quality and it was perfect as cabin luggage for a recent trip to India. A large number of different and useful pockets allow for simple organization. Highly recommended and especially as I managed to get it for just £33!

This is the third Dakine bag I've bought. I've also purchased a makeup bag and a larger backpack/brief case for travel. In all cases, I've found Dakine bags to be extremely well constructed with excellent functional details. I actually bought this backpack for my son and he likes the unique look it has. I would highly recommend Dakine products. They're worth spending a little more for because you'll get the wear and appreciate the functionality.

Would have given 5 stars but the picture given is *not* the bag you get. The dark grey carbon with the vertical writing is an older model that Dakine no longer sells. The "newer" carbon - this one that amazon sells - is lighter grey and has the traditional logo.Misleading advertisement aside, the backpack is great and IMO looks better than the one picturedBag is 10/10, but the advertisement is 0/10

Great backpack!!! I'm a college student and put a lot of wear and tear on my backpack. This backpack is nice and big and has lasted me a full semester with no wear and tear. It looks as good as the day I bought it. My only negative was that I ordered the blue color first and it came in a carrot top green but the grey one that I ended up with is beautiful. Highly recommend this backpack.

This was bought as a Christmas present for my boyfriend. He previously had a Dakine backpack which resisted to 5 years of mild to intense usage, and is still in good shape, just a bit ruffed at the back. If this is the same quality as that one I see no resaons why it shouldn't get 5 stars. So far the material and the build quality seem good not different from the previous one.

Pockets to keep everything organize! I was looking for a backpack that had a separate zippers day compartment for the laptop so I can put everything else like food without compromising the laptop and I came across this. I currently own multiple dakine bags for school and travel and it always exceeds my expectations.

Perfect bag for my use. I love that both my laptop and tablet fit in the bag, and just enough room for books and papers. My previous Dakine backpack has been going strong for years, so I know the quality and durability will make this bag last. This bag is my go-to every day work bag and I am very happy with it.

Alt title: the Tardis of bags.this bag has hidden Room and compartments. I have a 15 in laptop that fits with Room left over, workbooks, chargers etc, bags of compartments also. Sturdy but not overly large. Just right for commuting as I do. Tried the rest now get the best! I cannot recommend this enough!
