I have mixed feelings about this machine. It is solidly built, very easy to use, and easy to clean, although it would be better if the bucket and paddle could be put in the dishwasher. I have not yet succeeded in making brilliant ice cream with it, but that may be due to the recipes I am using. I bought it to be able to make low sugar/low fat ice cream and have been using artificial sweeteners instead of sugar, as well as some supposedly 'healthier' alternatives like agave nectar, maple syrup and honey. What always happens is that before the end of the churning time the ice cream becomes hard and solid at the sides while still soft and sloppy in the centre. This hardness makes it difficult for the paddle to turn,so the motor labours for a while (which can't be good for it) then stops completely before the time is up. The ice cream around the sides is very dry and cardboard-y and not at all nice. Also I have not been able to pause it and add ingredients in the final stages as it says in the booklet, as the paddle struggles to re-start. So, I'm slightly disappointed with it but maybe it just needs full sugar recipes to work optimally.

This is a large piece of equipment (a little smaller than a small microwave oven) I've had to have a bit of a move round in my kitchen to accommodate it. It would fit into one side of a double base unit, but it's quite heavy due to the motor and I didn't want to keep lifting it out every time it was needed. It is also a bit noisy when it's churning, although not deafening. The positives are it makes fantastic ice cream, which more than makes up for the few negatives. The booklet has a few recipes in it, which are adaptable but you need to remember that if your ingredients are heated together in a pan first, this mixture will need to be refrigerated until it's cold before it goes into the ice cream maker. This can add several hours to the making time. This machine runs rings round the type where you freeze the bowls first and I would recommend it to anyone has spare counter space and who likes fresh ice cream and gelato. Well worth the money.

Purchased to replace a much cheaper "best buy" freeze the pot ice cream maker which broke about 30 seconds after it went out of warranty. The most important part is... it makes really good ice cream. I have found that it usually needs a little longer to freeze the mixture adequately than recipes suggest, but the results are smooth, creamy and utterly delicious. The freezing process is considerably better than the previous machine. It's pretty large - about the size of a large slow-cooker, so make sure you have the space to put it away. I don't find it noisy - it does have a compressor, so it was never going to be silent, but it really isn't intrusive.Having the compressor allows you to make relatively larger batches of ice cream - where with the "freeze a large pot" variety, you need to re-freeze the pot. This is quite an advantage. It seems to be pretty solidly put together, and I expect it will provide many years of service.

Best kitchen toy I have ever bought. I am able to create unique ice-cream flavours such as Gooseberry & Elderflower, Rhubarb & Ginger, Black Current & Cassis, alongside all the normal flavours such as Salted Caramel and Vanilla, Strawberry. And I haven't even started experimenting yet. The machine in not noisy, but you do know its running, just a sort of gentle churning sound in the background. Really easy to use and understand. Easy to clean - but not in the dishwasher - only by hand. As long as your ingredients have been chilled overnight (not necessarily mixed) in the fridge, you can have soft ice-cream in 30 minutes. I then put it into a tub and freeze. I batch make and freeze as it disappears so fast.Absolutely the best. Its not the smallest ice-cream maker in the world - but turns out a litre of perfect ice-cream every time. Gets my vote !!

Unfortunately I had to return this as it was making a loud squeaking noise while it was being used but I will order another one because the gelato is delicious, I had five kids at the house who thought they were the best ice creams they had ever had.Make sure you have it delivered to your home because this is really heavy, it is also very large and needs lots of counter space. It comes with two paddles which incorporate a lot of air for ice-cream and less for a more dense gelato, the design of the paddles make it awkward to remove the icecream but they are solidly made so should last well and it is much much better having a removable bowl

I've had this machine for 4 years, and have used it constantly, making at least 3 litres of ice cream a week. I bought it after trying and returning a more expensive machine with many bells and whistles, including tinkly tunes, which failed to actually work and was frustratingly unreliable. This is a simple, efficient work horse, which works as it should, time after time, without fail. My only criticism is with actually removing the churned ice cream from the paddle, which can be a bit messy. But it's worth it! Guaranteed for 5 years, it is a reliable machine and is worth every penny of its reasonable cost.

I waited a long time before treating myself to this. Used to have an small, freezable bowl, ice cream machine but the bowl didn't fit upright in my new freezer. Now I can have ice cream any time I am organised enough to have the ingredients to hand. It isn't silent but no noisier than the old machine. So far have made several batches of vanilla and chocolate by following the enclosed booklet. Vanilla works well, for next chocolate batch will revert to old recipe I have where choc is melted first as that will be a smoother mix. Look forward to more experimenting in the months to come.

Love this machine. Makes the best ice cream and sobet ever. So easy to use. After the ice cream is done i just wash the bucket and paddle and lid by hand with soapy water, as they are not dishwasher safe. The machine is quite heavy so usually my husband has to help with the lifting. It does make some noise, but its not so distracting. I have had it on while we had guests and we were not bothered by it.I would definitely recommend this machine, I have hd mine for 2 years and just bought one for my sister.I find it very good quality for the price you pay.

This is the best ice cream maker I have ever owned and I bought my first one in December 1983! Before that I had a bucket with a cylinder in the middle - you had to pack it round with ice and salt and churn it manually. Part of the reason this is so good is that the bucket is so easy to lift out and clean. Ice cream needs to be churned while it is freezing and bought ice cream, even the most expensive is not a patch on that you make yourself. I look forward to trying it for sorbets too. Bought sorbets are mostly dreadful.

Received this next day with Amazon prime . Having used it to make vanilla , chocolate and mint and chocolate chip I am pleased with the results . My only concern is the paddle , having followed all instructions and recipes the paddle seems to stop and jam when ice cream thickens and freezes . It dosn't seem to be too thick and is still soft but paddle gives up before timer runs out . If anyone has an answer to this I would love to hear from them . I would have given it 5stars if it hadn't been for the paddle problem .

Having used a Cuisinart ICE40 requiring pre-freezing of the tubs for several years, I wanted to upgrade to a machine with its own freezer compressor & having read several reviews, chose the ICE100. In the few weeks I've had it I've made a couple of 'egg custard' vanilla ice creams & many of the basic vanilla ice cream to match with my homemade raspberry & blackberry ripples. It's easy to use, reasonably quiet in operation & produces consistently great ice cream.

There is nothing quite like homemade icecream. The cuisinart is so simple to use, even I can do it!Some recpies come with the machine, but there are so many available on line, you will be spoilt for choice.Make up your recipe, pour it in the bowl, turn machine on!It mixes and freezes, and after 50 - 60 mins, you can be enjoying truly fresh, full flavour ice cream. What's not to love?

Don’t normally spend the time writing reviews for online shopping as I never have the time; but this really deserves a review! Brilliant piece of kit...easy to use the ice cream it makes is delicious. Thoroughly worth spending a little more and getting a good ice cream maker. I spent user £50 before and it wasn’t up to much at all. Sometimes you do get what you pay for!!

Very easy to use and a vast improvement on our previous ice cream maker, where you had to freeze the bowl before attaching the mixing lid. Haven’t looked back since starting to use it and have made some delicious ice creams. Definitely recommend this. It may be pricey but worth it. It is quite large, so you’ll need to find somewhere to store it when not in use.
