We are in an era (late 2017/early 2018) of unprecedented memory prices (well, unprecedented since the last spike in memory prices). So it's always going to be difficult to get value for money. This memory lacks the latest 'innovations' - like flashing rainbow lights and fancy do-nothing heatsinks. In fact, in a market saturated with 'bling' I found myself having to wade through a morass of terminology describing these extras, double-checking to see if a particular term was actually for a feature I needed, or whether it was just another piece of marketing describing a flashing on-board led.Don't get me wrong, I'm a modern man with a Windowed PC case and, as the flashing, gimmicky memory gets cheaper,I don't doubt I'll get a stick. But it isn't a necessity. What is important, however, is having enough memory of a high enough quality to run my new-build PC and tell everyone I know "It starts in under 8 seconds" with a smug look on my face.(It does start in under 8 seconds, by the way)In previous years I use to get very worked up about the technical specs of my memory - soul searching decisions to go with CL5 or CL7, or willing to pay through the nose for a bump in Mhz. For hours and days of research, the improvements were few and far between. From a real world perspective, this 8GB worked smoothly with Win10 by itself (and I've since upgraded to 16GB). Memory speed doesn't appear to be a bottleneck on my system (Ryzen 1700x processor), no random hangs or angry applications slowing my PC to a halt. No memory errors, no temperature problems.... basically no issues at all to report. This memory delivers good performance at a reasonable price. If image is everything for your build, get a single stick of this whiIe waiting for more expensive, flashier memory modules to come down in price. For my part, it performs so well I don't actually think I'll be ditching this stick of ram when other memory comes down in price. It's a highly recommended buy for any PC owner/builder in need of memory.

SummaryThis could possibly be the best DDR4 RAM stick available in terms of price to performance. This is achieved as the RAM stick is bare; there are no fancy logos, just a green rectangle. This is perfect for those who want fast RAM, and lots of it, in a non-windowed case. If your side panel is not windowed, then there is no need to spend the extra £5-£15 just to get a nice design or LED's on your RAM.PerformanceThe Crucial 8GB DDR4 RAM runs at 2133MHZ. You can easily cheap out on RAM, but that will result in programs loading up a little slower once already in the background. 2133 MHz is the stock frequency for DDR4; so there are higher variants, however, at that point you are really just throwing your money away. The transfer speed is at around 8GB/s, so plenty of programs will be in the background, and your PC will still run smooth. Although, what I haven't tested is the difference between DDR3 and DDR4 memory. However, despite that, if you want to get your hands on DDR4 memory which is an 8GB stick, then this is the cheapest you're going to find it at the moment.Pros And ConsProsReally good performance/price ratioDDR4 MemoryAffordableConsThe Stick is quite uglyNo heat sink could mean RAM has a possibility to overheatFinal VerdictThese RAM stick sets by Crucial provide the best DDR4 price to performance ratio out of any manufacturer at the moment. The memory is nice and fast at 2133 MHz, and will multitask your computer like nobody's business. However, the plain sticks themselves may be a bit outputting to enthusiasts who want everything to look nice and match with their build. Companies add heat sinks to RAM to dissipate heat, but much research has shown not much heat is created off the RAM, otherwise it would have a fan, wouldn't it? Heat sinks are now added more for aesthetics more than anything. Aside from that, I have no other criticisms.

Getting more or better memory is a way that I normally overlook when it comes to keeping my PC fine-tuned for video edit work. Though I have to admit to not having done any benchmark comparisons (as to be honest I forgot to do the 'before' tests before I swapped it over), from an experience point of view this memory definitely seems to have given my 2-year-old desktop PC a bit of extra oomph. I'll have to leave it to the more high-end users to enthuse over the exact specs, but DDR4 is clearly impressive, even to a relatively pedestrian non-gamer like myself. In some ways there's not much to say about memory- you install it with exactly the same amount of ease as you'd get with different memory, and my PC recognised the memory straight off with no hassle and no fuss. So in terms of build quality etc it seems totally standard. A couple of the reviews on the US Amazon site say that it's "not good looking"... erm... OK. To be it's motherboard-green; I'm not quite sure what else I might've expected?Obviously depending on what you want to do with it, your PC may still be bottlenecked by some other part of the process- there'd be no point me getting this memory in for video editing if my hard drives still couldn't stream the media fast enough, for example. I think the biggest noticeable difference to the user will be in things like some of Adobe's more memory-hungry programs, Photoshop or Premiere. It couldn't be easier to install and use, and the current Amazon price seems pretty impressive considering DDR4 is still at the posh end of computing.

More often than not labeled the "poor mans upgrade" Ram now-a-days has taken more centre stage. With it ever evolving and becoming faster, pc systems and games depend more on solid reliable and high performing ram than ever before.DDR4 is fairly new in PC terms, although most people use DDR3 as standard, DDR4 is slowly creeping in and will do over the next year or so before becoming common place. The DDR4 setup i have is faster on the whole compared to my other PC, but the speed difference purely on a RAM level is still small in these early days, really proving it's not worth upgrading a system just to take advantage of the new RAM. If your prepared to build from scratch and want to head over to a more futre proof system then fine,go for the DDR4.But if your not bothered about a small amount of increased performance most won't actually notice, then stick to the common and now very cheap DDR3 range. All in all, the ram is very stable, has a reliable background with Crucial being in the game a long time and the performance is great, although the DDR4 motherboards are very pricey for what your getting...for the moment anyway!

This was a quick and easy upgrade, and it gave our PC an immediate and substantial performance boost. The improvement requires no real effort to achieve, as the operating system exploits the available memory automatically. That said, if you adjust the virtual memory settings, you can squeeze out slightly more performance. It is a DDR4 chipset, which offers a few advantages over DDR3, mainly that it is faster and uses less energy. When it comes to CPU and memory upgrades, the usual subject that arises is overclocking. This chipset can be overclocked to make it run quite a bit faster, though if you overdo it, you can end up quite literally destroying it. I've not tried overclocking this set,as the performance increase quite impressive enough as it is.Crucial has been in this business for a many decades, and is a trusted name. I expected no memory errors or faults, and the diagnostic tests I ran on it revealed no errors at all.Memory upgrade has always been one of the more cost-effective quick fixes, and this one is particularly good value. The Amazon offering is (at Nov 2014) a great deal – a fully £57 off the list price.

Dropped these chips into my Asus X99-Deluxe and they certainly made a substantial difference to the 2 8GB Corsair Vengeance chips I already had in. I haven't done actual speed tests, but running Cakewalk Sonar X3, I find bouncing music tracks down quicker and the PC certainly appears to boot up quicker.I wasn't expecting anything less from Crucial, as they have been in the memory business for years and are a tried and trusted brand. I would also say at the time of writing, Amazons price seems very reasonable at £82.One point to note however, is if you want these chips to look great inside a windowed pc case with the components on display (like the look a lot of gamers go for), these chips may not be for you. They are simply the green circuit board with the black chips on it, they don't have any big colourful heatsinks or a funky looking case on them, but if you just want good, reliable memory that does the job at a reasonable cost, you won't be disappointed with these.

I recently bought this memory after reading Puget System's hardware reliability article.I bought a pair of DDR4 Corsair modules and was utterly disappointed after one of the DIMMS failed Memtest only during the second pass. At work, we use the exact same DIMMs and also had a module fail Memtest. Thus my search for a brand with a higher reputation for reliability and quality began!I did the standard 4-pass Memtest test using this Crucial module including the "Hammer test"; this test in particular is difficult to pass for un-buffered DIMM and is typically a good way to determine the quality of you memory. I have posted my results below and was not disappointed to discover 0 errors after running Memtest for 3 hours.I will be buying Crucial memory again!Tldr; If you prefer reliability rather than meaningless memory benchmarks which have no real-world benefit, then look into memory which isn't marketed to gamers :)

Not much to say... it's RAM. It's on the lowest end of DDR4 speed, but RAM has been faster than the average person needs for quite a while. No real benefit of going with higher frequency memory, unless you are a professional/business that is constantly doing something extremely memory intensive. Normal daily use and gaming can't benefit from higher speeds, so my advice is don't go for expensive RAM unless you want the cool design. That being said, one of the two sticks was faulty, so maybe the lower cost also means worse quality assurance process. MemTest86 found 366 errors, but amazon replaced it with next day delivery, so can't complain.

DDR4 is still quite "new", in that DDR3 remains the current go-to standard for memory purchases. Because of this, DDR4 RAM prices are still a little on the steep side. That said, there will be a time when DDR4 is the standard. This memory is from Crucial so there is a certain element of quality to it. It's bare bones, no gimmicky plastic cooling heatsinks or GAMERRRRR taglines. It's a stick of 4GB DDR4 memory, and it works just fine. The green exterior may ruin people's colour schemes inside their machines, mind, so that's the only negative I can think of.

This was the best price i had seen for an 8GB DDR4 memory stick. I had seen reviews stating that it had performed well in memtest86 so i plumped for it. I have no need for fancy heatsinks or designs as no one will see it and they are mainly useless and just aesthetic. This memory has been everything i needed for a very reasonable price. The new system now runs smoothly and efficiently.

Not much to say about this ram really, it works, runs at advertised speeds, looks nice and discreet, never been a fan of big heat spreaders on ram as they’re not really needed as long as you have good airflow in your case you’ll be fine, and it should have 100% cpu cooler compatibility because it has no aforementioned heat spreader.

Exactly as described, 2x4GB 2133MHz DDR4 Memory, no fancy heatsinks but you don't really need them unless you're building a gaming PC that has a window, these are ideal for a Work or Home Office PC. Instantly detected by the BIOS and comes with a good warranty period. Item was well packaged! RECOMMENDED!!!

Excellent. Many tech review websites point out that aluminium heatsinks on RAM are more for aesthetics than actually dissipating heat, which RAM generates very little of. The RAM itself is rock solid in performance, and Crucial have an excellent warranty for their products in case of hardware faults.

One stick of ram 8gb no heat sink. That's right it is exactly what it says it is although it may not say it has no heat sink you cam clearly see in the picture it has no heat sink but yet is still very good at what it says it does and still cheap and works perfectly

Bought this item at £25, shows you just how much they have increased the price. Can't complain as my pc has coped very well with this arguably being the lowest spec part of my build. I would say wait for the price to decrease but it doesn't look like it ever will.
