We are in an era (late 2017/early 2018) of unprecedented memory prices (well, unprecedented since the last spike in memory prices).So it's always going to be difficult to get value for money.This memory lacks the latest 'innovations' - like flashing rainbow lights and fancy do-nothing heatsinks. In fact, in a market saturated with 'bling' I found myself having to wade through a morass of terminology describing these extras, double-checking to see if a particular term was actually for a feature I needed, or whether it was just another piece of marketing describing a flashing on-board led.Don't get me wrong, I'm a modern man with a Windowed PC case and, as the flashing, gimmicky memory gets cheaper,

Getting more or better memory is a way that I normally overlook when it comes to keeping my PC fine-tuned for video edit work. Though I have to admit to not having done any benchmark comparisons (as to be honest I forgot to do the 'before' tests before I swapped it over), from an experience point of view this memory definitely seems to have given my 2-year-old desktop PC a bit of extra oomph. I'll have to leave it to the more high-end users to enthuse over the exact specs, but DDR4 is clearly impressive, even to a relatively pedestrian non-gamer like myself.In some ways there's not much to say about memory- you install it with exactly the same amount of ease as you'd get with different memory,

Great price for the RAM chip, and installation is exactly as you'd expect.Make sure you remember to shut down the computer, unplug everything including the power, install the RAM , and then REMOVE THE BATTERY FROM THE MOTHERBOARD! I personally keep it out for 60 seconds, even though typically 5 seconds is enough time for the capacitors to fully discharge, because I know this made a difference sometimes back in the day.Anyhow, after 10-60 seconds go ahead and put the battery back in.This is important because that battery lets the motherboard remember all the machine addressing for the memory, the processor, the hard drives, etc... and if you don't clear it out it will often be a mixed jumble of addresses from the old configuration and the new.

More often than not labeled the "poor mans upgrade" Ram now-a-days has taken more centre stage. With it ever evolving and becoming faster, pc systems and games depend more on solid reliable and high performing ram than ever before.DDR4 is fairly new in PC terms, although most people use DDR3 as standard, DDR4 is slowly creeping in and will do over the next year or so before becoming common place.The DDR4 setup i have is faster on the whole compared to my other PC, but the speed difference purely on a RAM level is still small in these early days, really proving it's not worth upgrading a system just to take advantage of the new RAM. If your prepared to build from scratch and want to head over to a more futre proof system then fine,

The improvement requires no real effort to achieve, as the operating system exploits the available memory automatically. That said, if you adjust the virtual memory settings, you can squeeze out slightly more performance. It is a DDR4 chipset, which offers a few advantages over DDR3, mainly that it is faster and uses less energy.When it comes to CPU and memory upgrades, the usual subject that arises is overclocking. Dropped these chips into my Asus X99-Deluxe and they certainly made a substantial difference to the 2 8GB Corsair Vengeance chips I already had in. I haven't done actual speed tests, but running Cakewalk Sonar X3, I find bouncing music tracks down quicker and the PC certainly appears to boot up quicker.I wasn't expecting anything less from Crucial, as they have been in the memory business for years and are a tried and trusted brand. I would also say at the time of writing, Amazons price seems very reasonable at £82.One point to note however, is if you want these chips to look great inside a windowed pc case with the components on display (like the look a lot of gamers go for), these chips may not be for you.

I wish I could have installed it with the help of 3 excellent How-to videos on YouTube. Amazon's enclosed instructions asked me to contact ACER support to install it. ACER computer is a great but ruined by the total lack of ACER Tech Support. I bought a 8GB crucial memory stick to upgrade it. Amazon's flyer said call Acer Tech Support for exclusive Amazon support. Not True. I spent 4 hours over 2 days trying to get any help from them. They just kept repeating "We are not authorized to provide any information". " If you open the computer you destroy the warranty" I asked them to provide me just a schematic of the inside of the Computer so that I can figure it out myself. Acer refused!

I recently bought this memory after reading Puget System's hardware reliability article.I bought a pair of DDR4 Corsair modules and was utterly disappointed after one of the DIMMS failed Memtest only during the second pass. At work, we use the exact same DIMMs and also had a module fail Memtest. Thus my search for a brand with a higher reputation for reliability and quality began!I did the standard 4-pass Memtest test using this Crucial module including the "Hammer test"; this test in particular is difficult to pass for un-buffered DIMM and is typically a good way to determine the quality of you memory. I have posted my results below and was not disappointed to discover 0 errors after running Memtest for 3 hours.

Not much to say... it's RAM. It's on the lowest end of DDR4 speed, but RAM has been faster than the average person needs for quite a while. No real benefit of going with higher frequency memory, unless you are a professional/business that is constantly doing something extremely memory intensive. Normal daily use and gaming can't benefit from higher speeds, so my advice is don't go for expensive RAM unless you want the cool design. That being said, one of the two sticks was faulty, so maybe the lower cost also means worse quality assurance process. MemTest86 found 366 errors, but amazon replaced it with next day delivery, so can't complain.

DDR4 is still quite "new", in that DDR3 remains the current go-to standard for memory purchases. Because of this, DDR4 RAM prices are still a little on the steep side.That said, there will be a time when DDR4 is the standard. This memory is from Crucial so there is a certain element of quality to it. It's bare bones, no gimmicky plastic cooling heatsinks or GAMERRRRR taglines. It's a stick of 4GB DDR4 memory, and it works just fine. The green exterior may ruin people's colour schemes inside their machines, mind, so that's the only negative I can think of.

Purchased a single 4gb stick to test and use my new system until I could figure out what quad channel kit best fit my needs as well as to keep as a back up should I have had any problems with the quad kit. The stick functioned well and I was even able to run BF4 on ultra settings minus AA. There isn't too much to report about this RAM. I got two sticks of fully-functional 4GB RAM. There's nothing fancy with this memory; no RGB, no gaudy heat spreaders and modest speed and timings. But, it gets the job done and that's all I needed from it. This RAM went into a very inexpensive Skylake Pentium build and it meets my expectations. If you just want cheap, good RAM and don't need fancy-looking aluminum heatsinks and twinkling lights you can't go wrong with this black-squares-on-green-PCB RAM.

Hi I am a newbie computer build, long time pc enthusiast, first time building one lol. I was doing a budget gaming pc build and the kingston furry 2133mhz 8gb ram was sold out and i need a product fast to finish the build. I must say this ram may not be absolutely beautiful but it works great!! It does everything i need and will defienetly be purchasing another very soon to pair with the one i already have!! Great product and arrived super fast!!! I highly reecomend tgis product!!
