Cressi Junior Protective Tee-shirt (Blue - Short Sleeve - Size L/4)This type of technical tee-shirt is really useful for the kids on the beach. It allows them to stay out all day without getting sunburned or chilled (though you'll need to put sunscreen on the exposed areas like hands, face and arms). Because they dry so quickly, these tee-shirts work just as well whether they're wet or dry. This product from Cressi is excellent quality with lots of little design features that means it does a really good job. However, sizing information provided in the listing is inadequate, so it's hard to know how you'd choose which size to choose (I've set out the Cressi shorty size chart below).=== THINGS I LIKE ABOUT THIS PRODUCT ===* Good quality technical fabric that's really stretchy,so it provides a good fit without restricting range of motion (the nylon contains 8% elastane)* Well-stitched throughout with no loose threads or snags* Stretchy neck band which protects the neck from the sun but is still reasonably easy to get over the head* Attractive design with flashes of white on sky blue and Cressi branding front and back* Light in weight - weighs just over 100g* Made by family-owned company Cressi which has specialised in snorkling and diving equipment for decades (they are apparently the oldest scuba diving company in the world)* Minimal packaging (just a clear plastic bag)=== NIGGLES ===* Says 'Italian quality since 1846, but the label says the tee-shirt is made in Cambodia* Cressi seems to be living in the last century so far as colourways are concerned, since they only produce these tee-shirts in either baby blue for boys or baby pink for girls - yawn! That will limit the available market.* This online listing provides an insufficient description of sizing for people to be able to make an informed decision about which size to buy. All the listing says is that the product is available in I-II-III-IV-V and the drop-down menu gives the options XS/1, S/2, M/3, L/4 and XL/5, without specifying what these mean. The label sewn into the tee-shirt itself says "L/4 10-11", but you won't get to see that till it's delivered. Children vary so much in size and shape that giving an age range is tricky so height and weight can be more useful indicators. I found this tee-shirt to be exactly the same size as the Cressi shorty wetsuit I have in a age 9-10, so perhaps the wetsuit size table would provide some sort of guide to which size to order. Here's the information provided on the shorty swing tag:YEARS HEIGHT WEIGHT8 120-135 cm 47-53" 26-32 kg / 57-71 lbs10 135-145 cm 53-57" 32-39 kg / 71-85 lbs12 145-155 cm 57-61" 39-45 kb / 85-100 lbs* Although labelled 10-11, this fitted the 9-year old perfectly so may be a bit tight on an 11-year oldFor sale at the time of writing this review at £16.98.

I was actually confused about the sizing for this rash guard when I ordered it as I don't think the sizing is very clear and it doesn't have a clear sizing guide on the product page. I can confirm that according to the label the L/4 size is actually intended for a 10-11 year old however there is no way this would fit an 11 year old and I actually think it is more intended for a size 7-8 year old.The vest itself is very well made and my two minor issues with it would be the sizing and the quite scratchy label on the neckline which we will end up having to try to cut out somehow. The guard itself is a lovely bright blue colour with the Cressi name on the front and a bird shape on the back both in white against the blue main body of the guard. The stitching is well done and the guard reasonably stretchy. I'm familiar with Cressi as I actually have one of their shortie wetsuits myself from my diving, which is still going strong almost ten years after buying it and so I have high hopes this guard will last a while too if cared for properly (rinsed well after use and left to dry in the shade) and be able to be used by both of my children.

L4 is a good fit for our three year old grandson. Helpful and sensible in that it provides protection from the suns rays to a UPF factor 50+ we also use them as 'rash vests' for wearing under wet suits. The sleeves almost come to elbow length so allow the child to build sandcastles, explore rock pools without clingy material getting in the way.The silky soft feel of this light blue and white top makes it pleasure for the child to wear, like a second skin. Good and stretchy, it goes over the head with ease, no need to tug and pull. While wearing it the body is free to flex, move about, swim, in all directions, while staying in place, giving the required coverage and safe layer against the suns rays. The sewing of the seams, overlocked throughout, is professional, robust and impressive. I enjoy the styling, it is bright and suitable for a child - the Cressi brand is to be trusted for adults and children, divers, snorkellers, swimmers, anyone who loves to be in and out of the water!

This is a great shirt for keeping a youngster protected from the harmful effects of UV as ordinary T-shirts don't always offer this type and degree of protection from UV light. Being short sleeved you still have to thoroughly douse the arms from just above the elbow down with sun cream but it should provide a saving overall as you're not having to cover your child's trunk. The shirt is well put together and flat stitched so there's no ridges to irritate if they're in and out of the pool whilst wearing it and the collar around the neck is quite deep. It is on the small size fit wise. Our toddler who is big for his age (3, but closer in size to a 6 year old) nearly filled it,given that we got an L/4 I was quite surprised. Good quality material, does the job and despite the limited colour choice (pastel blue or pink) but these colours will fit with most active wear, however, you may need to order a size bigger than you would normally to get one that fits.

Back in my day the type of person who wore a rash guard was a surfer who was trying to prevent chest irritation from hopping on and off their board. This is still the case with the youngsters who wear them to use on bodyboards, bu they are also somewhat of a fashion statement. They now get used as part of a regular swimming lesson. They have the added benefit of covering the entire torso so are warmer and protect from the sun. The 'Cressi Junior Lycra Rash Guard' is a good example. The light material has a slight waterproofing feel to it that helps in the water and it does prevent UV light. As this is Lycra, the material is also a little clingy and tight. This is great to give a figure forming fit,to allow better swimming speed and movement, but does mean that the sizing is a little on the small side. For example, the large would struggle to cover a typical 10 year old boy, but was perfect in size for an eight year old.

This is a well made top in a pleasant blue with white trim. The logo is across the front. I have the short sleeved version but there is also a long sleeved version. Also available in pink. I do think that the sizing needs to be much clearer. I really was not sure what I was getting. As it happens although it is too large for my great grandchildren now it will I think fit in the summer next year and possibly the year after that too.Sadly children's illnesses (you may know its `christmas) the pool closures and it being too big means that we have not been able to try it out but I love the idea and the style. Anything that protects children and adults form sun damage gets my vote.

This shirt is absolutely ideal to wear at the beach. This is for a four year old and so will fit my three year old nephew next summer perfectly. I have always used these shirts for all my children as they protect from harmful UVA and UVB rays and stop shoulders getting burnt. The material is 92% nylon and 8% spandex. This makes it stretchy and it does come up quite tight, so if you prefer this a little loose then buy up a size. This is very soft and comfortable to wear – it does have to be hand washed, but then it does virtually drip dry and, even if you get sand on it, you can just rinse it out while on holiday without any problems. Excellent quality and good protection.

Rash Guards were originally the preserve of lifeguards and other folk whose job was to be in and out of the water in the sunshine all day, but increasing awareness of skin cancer has made them a popular choice for beachwear. They have a 50+ UPF, and dry out very quickly after you've been in the water. This ones by the respected Cressi brand, so you know that you'll get a product that's manufactured to a professional level. This one then has triple-lock flat stitching, smart branding, and is of good quality fabric, so you should be able to hand it down to successive children. It does fit a little small, as other reviewers have pointed out.

This junior rash vest is perfect for water sports when you need a little bit of extra warmth, or protection from the sun. This material is very comfy and stretchy and it's also rated at SPF 50+, so it's very good at blocking the harmful UVA and UVB spectrum light that causes skin damage. The seams are all stitched with an overlock stitch so there are no rough or raised edges to the fabric that could rub.As with all the Cressi products, it's of very nice quality with good attention to detail. The colour is a nice mid-blue that isn't quite as bright as turquoise or as light as powder blue, it's in between.5 stars.

This Cressi top is superb quality which is going to work well on the beach for my Grandson to wear with his trunks. It has a SPF50 which is so useful as he is very very fair and burns easily. 92 percent nylon and 8 percent spandex this is a very soft and comfortable top. Atrractive to look at it comes in an almost powder blue with contrasting white stitching and sleevesThe only drawback is it is a very very small fit, I have the age 10 to 11 and my grandson is 7 and the right size for his age and this fits perfectly so I recommend gettting at least one size possibly two sizes bigger..

Beach clothing in this kind of fabric is such a good idea that I can't imagine why I hadn't stocked up on it for the children before now. Lightweight and quick drying, this will keep the kids safe from the sun and is suitable for playing in the sea without the need to get changed. Genius! We got an L/4 size which I think was designed for slightly older children but seems to fit my 8-year-old son quite well. It's freezing cold here though so there's no chance of testing it at the beach properly until next year!

This is an excellent product by Cressi, one of the best names in watersports. It's made from a nylon/spandex mix and so is warm, smooth to the touch, and protects from wind and low temperatures. Seams and stitching are solid and should last through hundreds of uses. The main selling point of this item is the high UV protection of 50+. The fabric has quite a bit of stretch so will last your child a couple of years at least, and it's also not that expensive, so not a great loss when your child grows out of it.

15.12.2016

First off, you have to be aware that this short sleeved rash guard shirt is very small in size, so go up at least a couple of sizes for comfortable wear. It is supposed to fit snugly, but the kids should preferably also be able to breathe during use.Other than that, the shirt is really great. It obviously protects against the sun, is comfortable to wear and allows for active playing both indoors and outdoors and in the water. All in all a great product, but do make sure to go a size or two up.

WELL MADE==========Well made and looks nice too. Stitching is tight. I'd say it's a little small so I'd order a size up. Saying that rash guard vest are always a little tight on and if you like them tight they're fine.LOOK=====It looks sporty, offers good protection, and less sunscreen was used on a day out at the beach.PROS=====Length is goodGood stretchDries quicklyGood qualityLooks niceLightCONS=====No spfOVERALL========It's a really good rash guard

The label says L4/ 10 - 11 years, however I would say this is a little ambitious, it is a more for a 7 - 8 year old, and although it is a stretchy material I think it would be a very tight fit on most 11 year olds. The shirt is well made, it's comfortable with soft seams and would protect well from the sun, it also provides some protection ft from jellyfish and the like. It also has the advantage over a normal tee shirt of drying quickly.
