Just superb. I like my hifi too, so it was initially a little bit of a push for me to consider a non-hifi brand ("Creative" in my mind were just an just IT equipment brand, right?). Apparently though the interesting thing about these is that they are allegedly Denon 1001 headphones, re-badged and styled, but with the same Fostex drivers. So there is a bit more hifi provenance here than there initially might seem. They were quite a bit cheaper when I bought them five years back too, but even at today's price they're still a truly worthy proposition. In fact the Live 2 model was, I think, supposed to supersede these, but it appears these are still as popular as ever and still being made. They have reliably delivered excellent performance without a glitch over five solid years of use. The pads are comfortable, the black finish is classy and timeless, so you won't look daft wearing them in an office or on public transport. However do note that the passive noise attenuation is only "average" (still good enough for most though) so if you are in very noisy environments you may need to look elsewhere. But mainly the audio quality is just spellbinding. Their balanced, solid bass with good heft, is neither bloated nor artificial (as with so many modern style headphones). The top end is sensible and smooth with no harshness or sibilance. And the mids are slightly recessed, so they're not "wearing" over extended listening periods. They're "laid back" headphones in my opinion; rich, slightly warm sounding, in hifi terms. The sound stage isn't claustrophobically boxed in, but it's not massive either. I have a pair of posher headphones for home use, Beyerdynamic DT770 pro, which are in my view sublime - "the next level" in terms of musical subtlety (and price) - but they are so darned clunky in size that I would always choose to take the Aurvana's on a trip and I'm still eighty percent as happy with the sound of them. The Creatives are easily driven by a mobile phone too. They're comfortable to wear for extended periods, if a little hot due to the very soft pvc-leather. But there is no pressure nor discomfort, either on the headband or the ears. They come in a black felt bag to protect them, which I've used religiously when storing them in my work backpack since day one, and they're in great shape still. The cable is a little on the thin side and not super long, so if you're using with a TV or hifi that's not situated near you, you'll need an extension cable too .I would buy these headphones again in a heartbeat if I ever lost or broke this pair. That says it all I think. Clearly there are better headphones out there, at a price, but as an all round package it would be wrong not to give the Creative Aurvana Live! five stars as a true reflection of their overall price, performance and longevity.

Not normally one to leave reviews, I make an exception for these headphones. Here are the pro's and con's as I see them:> Sound quality - fantastic!! Honestly, the entire range from bases to high notes are covered delightfully, as you'll notice by listening to music such as the Inception soundtrack or "4 hours of inspirational music" on Youtube. Astounding.> Comfort - Soft padding and extendable/retractable frame make these really comfortable to wear. Many's the time I've forgotten I had them on, causing me to move away from the computer and yank the cable out, which actually isn't so serious because of the...>Build quality - sturdy and solid. Despite the clumsy abuse I've given them over the last 9 months, including dropping my phone while these are attached thus putting a lot of sudden tension on the cable (the common cause of death for my previous sets of headphones), and the above, these not only save my phone from hitting the deck but also take the brunt without giving out a fraction. Very pleased that my £50 was spent wisely by Creative when they designed these.>Cable length is good, not too long, not too short. For use on old desktop PC's, with the Audio jack on the floor or somewhere you may want an extension, but otherwise it's the perfect practical length.Con's> Ear cups don't fold - Might not be a problem for everybody (like me), but I can understand why some people might like the added portability of a smaller form-factor. Nevertheless, with the good build quality these can still be stuffed into a bag without worry of damage.> Noise cancellation - exists, but is not the best. I believe this is due to the acoustic design of the cups, that does something to the sound to make it sound more '3D' - you'll notice this even when your friend speaks to you as no music is playing. Unfortunately where there's lots of background noise it doesn't cancel it all out which sort of cover up the otherwise lovely audio quality.I hope this is helpful. Really, I'm chuffed to bits with these and even my Dr Beats-owning flatmate asks to borrow these when she's working because of the quality. Oh, and for the price? What value!

I'm what you can call an audiophile, I've owned almost all "top-tier" IEMs since the SM3 to the UM3X, to Sony EX1000, to... everything in the between as well as very good headphones. I must say that these are one of the best headphones I've heard right next to the DENON HP700/D2000's. The treble is one of the best I've heard, cymbals are incredibly realistic with perfect extension and decay. Resolution is excelent, if you're a "treble-head", you'll immediately fall in love by the CALs. Highs even outperform the DENON HP700 in realism, which is quite an achievement. Mids are forward, lush and sweet, male vocals are crystal clear with very good definition. Micro-detail is very good on these, almost as good as the DENONs. The low end is the grip. It's not as textured and detailed as the HP700 (not even close). If you're a bass-head these are not for you, unless you amp them with a Digizoid ZO2, but count with some distortion at high volumes and you won't feel the drivers shaking as with bass-head headphones. Overall they're great value for money. 4 stars due to the not spectacular bass (at all), but incredibly good treble and mids. Instrument separation is above average and soundstage is good for a closed can. Anyways I just have 50 hours burn-in on them, I'll let you know if they improve within the next 100 hours or so.I would say that these are excelent budget headphones for jazz due to the extremely defined and accurate treble, but not for Trance, Metal, etc, due to the uncontroled/slow/weak bass. For those genres have a look at the DENON HP500 (same drivers as the HP700, just smaller soundstage) and they cost the same as the Creatives. The HP500/700 have one of the best bass quality I've heard. Definition/texture is simply stunning (not to mention the micro-detail - they are detail monsters).

Firstly I must say thank you to everyone before me who reviewed this product - its what lead me to buying these excellent headphones! It took me a long time to purchase these headphones as I went through an intensive research on quality versus money which involved a lot of time online reading reviews etc and also looking like a stalker in HMV trying on all their demo headphones with a selection of music from jean michel jarre to Hugh laurie!! Originally I was focused on buying a pair of Bose headphones but wanted to see what else was on the market (rather than just buying a 'name') after reading the reviews on this site and others I opted for the creatives.....I think I chose well. The headphones are extremely comfortable and I have no problem with the wires getting tangled. The sound is excellent (now that they have a few weeks of use) with the bass strong but not overpowering vocals and every range of sound being discernible - I am starting to hear sounds in my music that I didn't hear before! The only negative I would say about these headphones are that they do not feel that they would last the rigours of outdoor use...this is not an issue for me as I use them indoors for my iPad and iPod but may disappoint others that are looking for a tough pair of cans. In conclusion, you will not regret spending your hard-earned cash on these as they are (in my mind) equal to a pair of Bose and certainly superior to skullcandy and beats by dr dre which you are only paying for a branding/sponsor.

After Christmas, I had about £70 or so to spend on some headphones,so after a lot of research I settled on these.I am tremendously impressed. My Sony MDR-EX300SLB In-Ear Headphones with 13.5mm Driver Unit are great but fiddly and after a while, uncomfortable. These are so nice to wear-really soft padding and not too heavy. The sound is simply a cut above anything else I've tried. So clear and spacious - you can hear all the individual instruments and voices like they have been washed and cleaned up.Sound textures and the bass are beautifully reproduced.Vocals are spine-tingling - I got goose-bumps listening to the Medieval Baebes-like they are actually singing right next to your ear.Listening toBiophillia by Bjork made me realise just what these phones could do.Superb, clear bass that you can feel resonating in your head, and so many subtlties that lesser phones would miss. Its like having new ears and listening to your music properly for the first time. I took these to work and some workmates tried them out. One bloke hardly recognised a well-known track. He thought it was a different version with extra keyboards and different cymbals. No, its the same track. He had never heard it properly before. In Town the other day I tried a pair of £169 Dr Dre headphones just to compare, and apart from the gargantuan bass, they sounded muffled and dead.No comparison at all.Cant say enough about these-brillant headphones.

Bought these to replace an ageing - and very heavy - pair of Koss studio monitor 'phones. At a mere £59.99 they are a bargain. Clear, neutral sound, lots of detail, clear highs, trebles and mids and a bass that is powerful but does not intrude. If you like your cans to be bass-heavy, don't get these. The Aurvana copes with all types of music, from classical to folk, metal to electronic. They just don't miss a beat, so to speak. After using Sennheisers, AKGs, Koss and various other manufacturers whose names I can't recall over the years, these 'phones are phenomenal. They're lightweight to wear but not lightweight in manufacture. Indeed, they look a lot more expensive than their price-tag. Oh,and one other thing: the Live! appendage is perfectly accurate. The sound has such presence and soundstage you really think you are listening to a live performance. If you want an inexpensive pair of headphones that are at home plugged into a hifi amplifier, a smartphone or a gaming console, these are for you. I wear them to listen to music on my hifi and the Aurvana are every bit as good as thee-figure headphones I have used in the past. However, I've deducted one star because I feel the cable isn't substantial enough (it tends to get wrapped around things when it's connected to the extension lead) and cheapens the look a little. Apart from that, these 'phones are the real deal.

I bought this item after spending weeks and weeks deciding between these and a pair of Sennheisers; and I am very happy that I went for these! The reason I got these over the Sennheisers was because I thought they had been reviewed better (after looking at pages and pages of reviews). Also the fact that they were part of this Amazon Prime I'v signed up to, which my free month was about to end on; also my mp3 is a Creative.Pros:They are very comfortable,Look good,Have fantastic sound quality. And have a nice long wire.Cons:The bag they come in is a little bit silly. It is a soft like, little sack?!? I would prefer a nice hard case personally.Sound quality is good, but unfortunately everyone else can here them too (don't keep the sound in), sound isn't stopped from coming in brilliantly either. The glossy plastic on the outside of the ear muffs gets finger prints all over it. But you can always use the lovely soft bag that comes with it to clean them.I have bought them for bus journeys, although I have said about the sound leaking, on a bus the noise from people talking covers that. And if you put up the volume a little bit they keep the sound out okay.Overall, I am very pleased with my purchase, not really a headphone expert but I think I got a good deal with these =]

I spent a few hours researching potential headphones and am very happy I chose these. They are very comfortable and can be used for long periods of time (I have quite a large head so comfort is important).I wanted a pair of headphones that effectively blocked outside noise but I didn't want to opt for the "noise cancelling" headphones as these tend to be quite expensive. These headphones are great as they fit over my ears snugly and once I have music playing or when I'm using [...] all outside noise fades away and I'm able to concentrate. The sound is also very good and they allow sound to be played much louder than my previous headphones (Sennheiser). The build quality is also very good and they feel a sturdy pair of headphones. One downside is that there is no volume control on the headphones themselves. My old set had a useful volume control on the wire which enabled me to adjust the volume easily. Another slight downside is the cable was a little too small to reach my PC, the headphones come with an extension cable so I now have a lot of excess cable behind my desk. However, the benefits far outweigh the two minor issues and I'm very happy with the purchase!

These headphones are without doubt some of the best headphones for the price. They come with useful accessories such as the gold plated 3.5mm to 6.35mm audio jack adapter, a soft carrying pouch and an extension cable. The headphones are comfortable for long periods of time, however they are not made for wearing around the neck. The cable should be long enough for most users but for those who require a longer cable there is an extension cable as mentioned above. Everything about these headphones feels very well build, the cable feels like its not going to fall apart and there is a very nice matt finish on the bottom part of the headband. The leather feels very soft and will provide comfort and a nice classic feel to the overall design of the headphones. Sound quality on these headphones is comparable to the sound on £100+ headphones, the sound is very clear, ideal for listening to music or watching movies. I haven't tested those on any games yet so I can't really say but overall these headphones are awesome for an extremely low price, you get much more for what you pay and if you're looking at beats, don't waste your money because these sound much better and cost less.

around 10 years ago Denon made a headphone called the ahd 1001, they where billed at the low end of the now classic ahd line up of Denon headphones. When Denon stopped making the 1001's, Creative revived them...and that is these headphones! They are truly one of the best headphones i have heard, like a mini version of the classic Denon ahd 2000 headphones wich where one of the best in the world. They are appropriately named as they have a live " in the studio " essence to there sound signature. On first listen they sound well balanced, if a little treble heavy. After several hours though, i am amazed at the quality and resolution of the bass frequencies! Not the boomy, artificial type. But it's not too tight either...just right. Listen to Coldplay's Magic and you'll hear several layers of low frequency detail. Many ( uninterested ) people must have purchased these headphones without realising that they have biocellulose diaphragm drivers made by Foster, a division of Fostex - they make the best headphone drivers in the world.So...even though these are portable headphones, they are also true audiophile headphones with forensic levels of detail.YOU CANT GO WRONG!

Ok, top marks for comfort ( including long sesions while wearing glasses), great sound ( good bass, not too overwhelming but just right, great mids and very good highs) and they look fab.Was going to get a BO*E AE2 but after weeks of reviewing this and Senny's, I am genuienly delighted to report that for a fraction of the price of the AE2's, the Aurvana Live is just as good!Pros: sound is amazing, super light and comfyCons: perhaps a bit on the fragile side and more suited to home use rather than commuting, either way, treated with care , these should last for years!Excellent product. 5 stars.Update 13/8/11 = bought a fiio e5 potable amp with a f3 line out cable and the Aurvana Live really comes alive....well worth the few bob extra if you want more oomph from your cans !Update: 18/08/2016 - headphone still working perfectly, no issues with build quality - super purchase, would like to upgrade to a Bluetooth / noise cancelling model but honestly can't justify a new purchase as these are perfect 5 years later!Update- 12/6/2017 - still working perfect and sounding great, well worth the price, great mileage from these phones!!

I'll start by saying unlike most when it comes to anything I buy I'm very research heavy because at the end of the day I want something that is good quality and isn't ridiculously priced as, let's face it, most electronics come from the far east. That said, I narrowed down my choice between 3 headphones and I chose this because it is by a well known company dealing with audio hardware etc so took a chance.I was without sounding cheesy, blown away by the quality of sound it produced. The comfort is also impressive I have sat for hours literally and not had any discomfort, it fits my head fine. Build quality matches superior sound quality and unlike some brands *coughsennheiser* this is definitely built to last. There's not one negative thing I can say about these headphones which is rare as I'm usually quite critical about most things (I'm a designer) so that's saying something! Oh and I also used to own a pair of wireless Sennheisers which weren't as comfy and had issues with radio signal conflict so I much prefer wired ones.

Received a pair of these for christmas and have constantly used with an Ipod Nano 4th generation in conjunction with a Fiio E06 amplifier and L9 cable to the Ipods 30pin port.I set the EQ on the Ipod as DEEP and use the blue EQ on the FiiO which adds to the soundstage. The outcome is an awsome sound with crisp highs, clear mids and a nice controlled bass. Dont understand how some reviews say not enough Bass - adjust the EQ on your player - its not hard to do.At times I am hearing sounds and vocals on tracks that I swear were not there before and have even turned round to look behind me and this is from compressed Mp3 files.Plugged directly into my technics home system playing CDs - WOW.Sincechristmas I have listned to more music than I did before and I am steadily reworking my way through my 30 year collection of many Genres. For the cost you will not get better - If using with a portable mp3player/ I pod also invest in a FiiO E06 and L9 cable - you will not be disappointed.

Pros:Accurate sound recreation, plenty of Controlled yet Punchy bassBass doesn't over power the mids and trebleExtension cable + 1/4" jack for Dj useComfortable for extended periodsAmazing noise cancellationCons:Mirror finish picks up dirt very easilyEars will get very warm with extended useTight around neck while they're settling inI bought these headphones to replace an old pair of Sony MDR-V150 Headphones with Reversible Housing for DJ Monitoring and to be quite honest, i couldn't be happier, these headphones are amazing for everything ive thrown at them, i use them for general listening, Production monitoring and Dj monitoring and they work well in every department. they cancel outsider noise amazingly.theyre strong, well built and work as well as a pair of headphones twice their price, if you are looking for a pair of headphones for less than £100, These are some of the best out there

Having bought these headphones based on reviews, I am really delighted with them and having sought a quality pair of headphones for years, I think I have found them. The first thing that is noticed, even before the music comes on, is how extremely comfortable they are. And whilst exercising, there is no movement from them. As far as the sound quality goes, I personally think they have got it spot on. I have odd music tastes, stoner rock, metal, hip hop and drum and bass as examples. I noticed that a review stated that the bass wasn't sufficient for them, and while the bass doesn't thump you in the head, it delivers dark undertones really well and the bass is highly distinguishable throughout.Although I could do with a little more thump whilst listening to DnB, anymore bass and it would really limit my genre-hopping. The overall clarity of the phones are amazing and highly recommended.
