I rarely write reviews, but this product and the engineers behind it have my respect. I had this tool for about 6 months now. The bits are sturdy and high quality, nothing to complain about there. It rightfully deserves the name of a true multi purpose tool - many times it helped me perform minor adjustments and fixes while cycling, and today it really made my day - I wanted to take off my quick release seat clamp (as i put the nut/latch backwards and it was obstructing my bike lock from being taken out), and i dropped the nut on the ground, which conveniently steered itself towards the rain drainage grates, and fell down never to be seen again. As luck would have it,the spoke wrench/chain tool bit has the exact same size threads as the seat clamp bolt, so i used the spoke wrench bit in place of the seat clamp nut and rode all the way back home with my saddle at the perfect height like nothing had happened. I am writing this review just as i came back home, still with my shoes and jacket on.I am really happy with this product, and i am happy to recommend it to anyone who needs a multi purpose bike tool - you will not regret this purchase.

Some people may be put off by the amount of tools on this multitool, and consequently, the weight. But I have used most of the tools on here, and the added security is worth the little bit of extra weight and bulk. Don't be one of those riders who carries the minimal amount of tools (or no tools and tubes, like some), then has to ask around when something goes wrong. And if you ride enough, things WILL go wrong. If you ride in the rain, this will rust a bit. But that is because the steel this is made from is more durable than stainless steel. My tool has been wet a lot, but only has minimal surface rust.As other reviewers have mentioned, the chain tool is a little tricky to use,but I have used it on multiple occasions, both to take out links and join sections together, with great success. It just takes a bit more patience than a standard shop chain tool.I would say this tool is the perfect multitool (along with some tire levers, a pump, and a patch kit) to get you out of any minor, and most major, mechanical mishaps on a bike. A definite necessity at a great price!

I've gone through 3 tools. First was a poopy schwinn tool my dad gave to me and it got the job done until the plastic broke and I had loose tools that I began to misplace every now and then. Second was the park tool IB-2. That little guy had what I needed it to, and its small size made it fairly easy to maneuver in those tight areas. This tool replaced that little guy in my saddle bag simply because I came to a point where I needed different hex key sizes as well as a chain breaker. I broke the chain once on my way to work and was stuck without it; as a result I walked to work (luckily I wasn't far maybe 6 blocks away). Since then I figured I should be ready for anything and this tool has given me peace of mind.I haven't used the chain breaker yet and hopefully I won't have to, but I am glad to have it. It's heavier than the previous two that I mentioned but that is within reason. CB has this same option in a gold color and also a case for it but to be honest you don't need the darn case (and the gold color is a little tacky). Great product and I love it!!!

I debated for DAYS on what kind of tool set I should get for minor bicycle repairs and adjustments. I wanted something that was both small enough to carry... yet sturdy enough to count on when needed. The Crank Brothers 17-Function multi-tool certainly fit the bill. This thing is solid; that's the first thing I noticed when I picked it up. The heavy-duty rubber holder keeps all the tools compressed together in one nice, neat package. Nothing rattles and there aren't any sharp ends that can damage anything else loose in my bag.The sides of the tool (see pic) feature a checkering pattern in the steel that help with the grip. Combine that with the compressed fit of the various tools and the whole thing feels very professional. For example, I really appreciate that there isn't any 'wiggle' when I'm tightening down a hex bolt with one of the Allen keys. This allows you to really crank on it and you know the tool isn't going to slip. Fortunately, I haven't had to use the chain breaker, but I'm glad to know I have one if the need arises.

Pros:- Minimalistic- Small size- Spoke wrench is removableCons:- Tools don't lock in place; closed or openThoughts:Bought this to Replace my Alien II after I lost it. This is longer but flatter. It's an easier fit into seat-post bag or pockets but it didn't come with a carry case. Came with a black rubber band that prevents tools from opening but I just threw that out.It does most of the functions you will need to tweak your bike: adjusting seat; true-ing wheels; removing accessories; changing handle bars; etc. The 4 spoke wrench is actually the tab with "Crank Bros" that has 4 grooves in it. This is twist removable so you don't have to turn the entire tool unlike other multi-tools.The two ends can be adjusted for tension for opening and closing. If you're worried about it falling apart, get some loctite -- though I don't foresee that becoming a problem. It's a good backup tool but naturally, dedicated tools are going to be the go to choice when you're at home.Bottom Line:Highly Recommended.

I am fairly new to road cycling, competing in a couple of events every year.I had a basic tool in my little under the seat pack, which was great for helping to change a flat tire. But I did not have anything to tighten up my clips on my shoes one time last year, when I was way out in the middle of no where.Fortunatly for me, another biker came by and helped. He had a very similar tool that he pulled out of his pack. He had the right settings for my clips, and I was riding away in a few minutes.I resolved that would never happene again to me.I have been doing research on a small toolset that I can take where ever I go, and this had great ratings. It is a nice, tight set, that folds up very nicely all together. The clip wrenches are on the sides, and even though they are a bit clunky to use, it does get the job done.It is now in my seat pack, and I will be ready for whatever the road throws at me this year!

This is a beautifully made multi-tool as it should be for the price but I'm not sure if it's any more functional than my other one which was much cheaper. So far I have only used it for minor screw tightening. I haven't used the chain tool yet nor the spoke wrenches. The open end 8mm & 10mm wrenches are cute and clever but I have my doubts about their functionality. There is a thick black rubber band to hold everything folded up closed. I like the concept, so long as I manage not to lose it. With the rubber band on, the tool is very smooth & not likely to snag stuff in your underseat bag or pocket.Note to Campagnolo-equipped bike owners - there is no 5.5mm Allen key on this tool.Like all folding multi-tools,the bolts holding the whole thing together will loosen with time and you'll need a seperate 4mm Allen key to tighten them. I can use my cheap multi-tool for that!

I purchased this tool for my new mountain bike. I was going to get the 19-function tool, but they were out of stock, and the only difference was another flat blade and phillips screwdriver. I don't think that I'll miss the other 2 tools. The tool has a feel of quality - the attachments have a nice finish and everything works as intended. It will be a little tricky to use the 8mm & 10mm crescent wrenches (the stepped notch in the side of the chain tool), but I don't think that I have any hex-head bolts on my bike - all fasteners are allen head.By no means should this be the only tool that you own. It's for emergencies, and will work well for occasional use. But I have no doubt that this will last, and won't leave me stranded in time of need. It's also relatively light in weight for a big hunk of metal.

I used this tool for about 4 months before the security agents at Tokyo's Narita airport made me throw it away because it resembled a weapon :(.Pros:- Lightweight and compact, making it very easy to storeCons:- The screwdriver can be very difficult to use. Because the tool is so compact, it isn't the best for some of those hard-to-reach screws (around the brakes, for example).- My bike doesn't have quick release tires, and it would be nice to have a tool that could accommodate those larger nuts. While this is a bit of an inconvenience, I didn't factor this into my rating. This point is more to inform people trying to buy an all-in-one tool that you may need extra equipment. In all honesty,I'll probably buy this tool again (along with some wrenches to be able to remove tires and such).

This Multi-tool is light, compact, and has everything you need for on or off the trail repairs or tweaks. Crank Brothers make great quality items and I was in the market for a multi-tool that I could take with me on the trail. It easily fits in a saddle bag or backpack and it folds up nicely with a rubber encasing strap. It seems to be build out of strong materials. I've used it quite a bit so far (3 long all day biking trips and several times to loosen/tighten the screws on my levers and such) and none of the bits show any wear. The pink for some reason seemed to be cheaper than the other colors so that's why I chose this specific one. The color doesn't hurt the functionality obviously.5/5 would buy again and will recommend to other people.

I don't have anything else to compare this multi-tool to other than a whole kit of mechanix tools. But it sure seems like bikes are starting to normalize a bit on their nuts and bolts. So this kit comes into play an awful lot. I give it 4 stars instead of 5 because I found that i still needed an adjustable wrench to manage all the little things I wanted to do here or there. I keep both in my saddle bag and that pretty much completes my travel tool kit.Maybe I'm being stingy with the stars, but I would like to see this with some kind of nut-driver solution to be perfect. In the mean time, go to Home Depot and get a set of their needle nose vise grips and you're finished with your tool kit.:)

So I've owned this for many years. I have been patiently waiting to review this till after I've had the opportunity to put it to a real test. I guess the regular maintenance I perform on my bikes really pays off. I've never had to use this on a ride. NEVER. But I have ridden with riders that needed to borrow it to service their bikes on a ride. It's been a solid tool and everyone that has used it has asked me where they can get one. Due to the length of time it's been since I purchased this, I don't know what the competing brands are anymore. I couldn't tell you if this is the most current version, etc. I can tell you this old tool has worked well for several people.I never leave it behind.

I won't add much more to what everyone has already said about the tool. It's great, fairly compact, probably the size of a small cell phone, and gets the job done. It's super solid, I would expect this to cost more than it does at the build quality you get.I give it 5 stars mostly because of the chain tool. I have a single speed/fixed gear that uses a 1/8" chain, and it breaks it and repairs it easily. I looked all over the internet to see if I could find any information about whether or not it would work on 1/8 inch chains, but couldn't find anything, and decided to take the plunge. Glad I did, it's a great tool and I don't have to buy a separate chain tool to work on all my bikes.

For most on-road bike repairs this has more than you'll ever need (the exception being tire levers). For at-home repairs this probably has everything you'll need, but you might want to purchase better tools for home that are easier to handle.I already had tire levers and nicer home tools and was looking for something that I could throw in my saddle bag if I needed to make an adjustment while on a ride. It's nice, too, to have a lot of tools together. So if I'm making an adjustment on my annoying Giant that requires several difference sized allen wrenches I don't need to keep making trips to the toolbox. In short, buy this and buy tire levers and you'll be set on the road.

This bike tool is very well made a precise. It saved me once when my brakes failed and clamped together after falling off my bike ;).I was about 1-2 miles away from home and i couldn't just "carry" it.So i quickly got to fixing it and saved me from a world of problems and embarrassment of carrying a bike home, particularly new.The tool fits HEX screws very well.Leaves almost no slack so the tools will not wear away anytime soon. And on top of all of that, they back it up with a lifetime warranty so if any problems, they will surely fix, and to show the quality of the tool.Overall, this is a excellent tool and is definitely worth the price.
