I bought this game for my son's 3rd birthday, he can count in order but doesn't recognise numbers by sight yet so I thought this would be a great game for him.I've bought orchard toys games before so I know that they are of excellent quality and this game is no exception. The card that this game is made from is thick and the printing is of high quality so they will withstand repeated use and are very unlikely to bend or break unless seriously mistreated. All the pieces of a good size. Each numbered piece of the caterpillar has a colour which matches the colour of the feet on the caterpillar, so even without knowing the order a child can put the piece in the right place. The piece also has spots around the outside corresponding to the number on the card so if the player doesn't know what the number is they can count the spots to work it out, which I think is a great feature. We have played this game twice now and from knowing no numbers by sight he can now recognise a number 3. Overall I think this a great game, well worth buying for children as a fun way to learn to count and recognise numbers. The simplicity and good design of this game make it ideal for some fun learning about numbers. I would definitely recommend it!

This is a brilliant game. The aim is to find all the pieces for your caterpillar which is in the form of a jigsaw. Each bit of the caterpillar is numbered and you take turns to turn over a piece until the winner has a complete caterpillar. It’s all colour coded so if you’ve got children of different ages they can use the numbers or the colours to match which pieces they need. It’s a really well thought out game. As each bored is a little jigsaw to make the caterpillar a toddler could play happily with it on their own. We’ve played it lots and my 3 year always goes back to it. One of the best Orchard Games. I’ve bought it as a gift for other children a number of times now.I’d say the upper age limit is probably about 6 max.

I bought this game for my 3 year old daughter to help her with her number recognition. This is a really good game for that and it didn't take long for her to learn her numbers. The slight downside I found at first was that the colours of the discs gave away where the number should go so it was less about number recognition but more about colour matching which my daughter could do easily. however, looking back now I think it actually helped her as she was able to play the game this way and over time she began recognising the numbers. I did also wonder if she just recognised the numbers by the colour of the disc but she knows the numbers out of the context of the game too!

Another brilliant Orchard toys game. The boards have to be put together with four puzzle pieces which is fun in itself then you find the number pieces to fit into the caterpillar shaped hole! That's it, simple but so effective! My two year old can count but doesn't yet recognise numbers so this game is going to be a very useful learning tool. I have read reviews that say this game would be better with a dice but it really doesn't need it, it's a beautifully simple and very clever little game just as it is.

Bought this for my sons 3rd birthday as although he recognised all his letters he just couldn't get his head round recognising numbers. Within literally a day or two of playing this game he knew all of them (and not just recognition of the colours as he recognises the numbers when written in a book or some other format too). And he LOVES it, we play it about 3 times a week still, and that is after having had it for 3 months. I don't mind playing it either which is lucky. Can't fault it.

This is a good game for little ones who are learning numbers. It helps the child to learn numbers one through to ten, and incorporates the use of colours also. My (only just) three year old really enjoys it, and started using it when she was about 2 1/2. Like lots of toddlers she could count out loud, but needed to learn recognition on paper. This game has helped her no end with this in a fun way.Another great game from Orchard Toys.Recommended.

I bought this to teach my child the colours. He is only 2 1/2 but didnt seem to be understanding the colours, we did this every night and now he knows all his colours. I will be doing the same with the numbers soon. Its is an excellent buy, at the moment im just using one caterpillar with him but there is much more you can do with multiple people. A definate buy to help teach your child colours and numbers.

The game is lovely and brightly coloured and the pieces are really durable so will take a lot of hammer from little ones bashing and chewing. I'm really pleased with the quality. The game itself seems really good but as my little one isn't quite old enough yet we haven't played it but have several of the more basic games in the range.

Brilliant at developing my two year old grandchildren's ability to count, order the numbers from 1 - 10, etc. The only drawback is that the interlocking jigged caterpillar number lines do come apart easily if knocked, causing a frustrating halt to the game whilst being set up again!

This is brilliant. I got it for my 2 1/2 year old grandson. It helped him recognise numbers within a week and he loves doing it. There are four caterpillars, we've put three away and just use it as a jigsaw. The game itself is suitable for older children. Say 31/2 - 5 maybe.

Bought this for my 2 year old granddaughter and she just adores this game. Lears the numbers and colours and can do the jigsaw pieces too. Four lovely caterpillars jigsaws to put together, very enjoyable and well worth the money for hours of fun. Would highly recommend.

Bought this for my pre school grandson for Christmas. He loves to play this and keeps him away from tv and computer games !!! Good interaction game, teaching him counting skills, taking turns and teaching him that he can not always win !!!! Would recommend this game.

I use this as a language development game. Covers lots of language without the children knowing they’re learning. Colours, position concepts such as front/back/in front/behind/next to/between and numbers 1-10. It’s great fun too the kids l work with love it.

Great game for the whole family. It helps my 2 year old learn her colours and my 4 year old her numbers. There is also the jigsaw element which is good for kids. Not great to play on carpet as jigsaw pieces come apart easily so best at the kitchen table.

This is a good quality fun game. Although it was too easy for my 5year old and is probably aimed at children just learning their numbers, my children still found it fun and raced to complete the caterpillar before everyone else.
