Quick resume of my Whisky drinking history.Early Years (public school) anything we could get our hands on.Twenties-thirties: Laphroaig, 'cos that is what my father drank. [Never sure I really liked the medicinal notes]Forties - and (unfortunate) side-track into Jack Daniels (yes, I know, but it was all Pavel's fault)Recently I worked in Ireland and rather took to Bushmills Single Malt. And then an ex-pat (from NZ and Norway) introduced me to Woodford Reserve, really quite fun!But I have been back on the Bushmills - honey, fruity but enough bite to not be too sweet.Anyway - what have we here?Whisky from the Cotswolds - whatever are they thinking? This is very malty (in comparison to some of the above),and then some fruity and flowery after tastes. This is not sharp, and not too sweet - but none of the fierceness of drinks like Laphroaig.Enjoyable drink for an evening in front of the fire.Quite pricey so I might think twice before investing in another bottle - but there are always birthdays and Christmas (HINT!)

As usual, when I review a malt on Amazon, I try to compare it against another malt that I think would be of a similar style. In this case I thought that an Auchentoshan might be a good choice (the one finished in the bourbon casks). I was wrong. The Auchentoshan is definitely a pre dinner drink with significant citrus flavours.Wow, this is different. The nose is warm and sweet and the initial taste is also same and sweet with definite ripe apple. This then leaves a lingering toffee, apple pie aftertaste. In terms of age, this is probably only just on four years old, but the complexity and depth of flavour, both initial and aftertaste, suggest a much more mature whisky than this.I have tried numerous other non Scottish malts, and this is definitely up there with the best of; It is definitely worth a try is you feel like venturing slightly out of you comfort zone. Having said that, if you do like the heavier Speyside whiskies, then I might suggest that you will love this.

This is the first English whisky I've tried. I've had a couple of different Welsh and Irish whiskies, and quite a few Highland and Island Scottish ones. This reminds me of Island whisky. A slightly peaty flavour. Which is a pity, as I prefer Highland varieties. That doesn't mean it's bad. On the contrary, it's a fantasticly smooth and easy to drink. This is a small batch whisky, just one barrel is produced, which provides 6000 bottles. And while age isn't a perfect indication of quality, it would be nice if they put the date it was put in the cask. The only dates imply that this is a 2014 vintage, bottled in December 2018.A nice feature of Cotswold whisky is that the barley is grown locally,.A couple of things I don't like.Apparently, they only use the casks once. Some of my favourite ones are matured in old casks. And while nice, I'd love to try a 15 year old version. So, if you like Island style whiskies, you will probably love this one too.

Cotswolds Single Malt Whisky arrives smartly packaged and pleasingly restrained bottle, and although these things have no impact on the drink itself, you do get the feeling this product has had some thought put into it. Given it's relatively young age (bottled in 2014), I wasn't quite sure what to expect, but I thought it had the aroma and taste of a decent Speyside whisky and with overtones of caramelised sugar. It may be a touch brasher than some 12 year old's with a bit more kick and not quite a smooth as some - but it's still a fine drink. I look forward to more mature versions.

Love the fact this is an English single malt and such a good one! It's sophisticated (lots of complex flavours going on) and smooth with a very pleasant lingering taste in the mouth.I'm impressed and this id definitely a whisky that will be bought again, both for ourselves and as a gift for very good friends.Have tried it over ice, with a little water and neat. The favourite is neat.Great bottle shape and design and very well packaged. The box it comes in tells a good story so by the time you taste it you are in the groove.

I love a good single malt... and this is certainly one to savour. Not too heavy, and (obviously given the territory) not peaty. If you are a little nervous of the idea of an English whisky, I can say that I thoroughly enjoyed this one. It fits nicely with my usual whisky preferences - Speyside and Highland for the most part, though I'd not refuse a Talisker or occasional Islay, and I love the Loch Lomand 18yrs old.In short, this is great. Well done, Cotswoldy type folks.

Whisky, to me, is an occasional treat. It's not an everyday (not literally) spirit like gin, as I don't love it quite enough, but I do enjoy it.This single malt from the Cotswolds is lovely a smooth, without either of my pet peeves - harsh kick or overly smokey taste. It is well rounded and enjoying it with a single ice cube really brings out the depth of flavour.Overall, I'm very happy with this smooth whisky.

For a whisky from England this is top drawer. £60ish for this type of whisky is nice. Won many awards and for good reason. Whisky is a personal experience however so bare that in mind. Full flavour for the price, (again £60 is cheap for some but expensive to others) it’s fruit but has a dark bodied flavour. Lasts on the nose with some nice levels of spice. Not a bad whisky to try at all. One for the collection.

This new to the market, whisky has a lovely aroma and on first taste I was hit with layers of honey, fruits and sweetness. However it’s new and a bit young so did get the back of my throat a bit, I suspect this will even out over time. A few drops of water in my sampling glass smoothed it out somewhat. I think this is an English producer to watch, I look forward to sampling a little more mature in the future.

This whisky, which can only be relatively young in view of when the distillery was established, is the most pleasant whisky surprise I have had for many years. Now on offer for £30 or less it is wonderful value. Rich, deep, multi-dimensional stuff. I find taken with a few drops of water is best. Cannot recommend this highly enough. The Scotch industry should be worried, :-)

An excellent single malt with hints of toffee, almonds, honey and sweet sherry and at 46% that does not over power it certainly hits the mark. I am pleased this Cotswold, English distillery is giving the single malt industry a run for its money. Well worth it and recommended. Two finger of whisky, a couple of granite cubes from the freezer, a drop of water.......Cheers!

This is a very pleasant single malt whisky, and one I would suggest for those who perhaps would not normally drink whisky. It starts off with a sweet, honey-like taste but then develops into a richer flavour with smoky notes. It's very easy to drink and I thought it was pleasant enough to warrant buying another bottle.

This is an excellent newcomer to the market. It has all the flavour and character of a single malt scotch!Out of sheer excitement, I bought 10 of the inaugural batch, and have enjoyed every batch since.A beautiful product, great customer service, its no wonder they are winning awards.

well I never- I loved the gin already and now a UK Malt from the Cotswolds-warm mellow and delicious and great with ice too if you like it that way as I do - a great achievement For the company and a brilliant product and the packaging befits the insides too. Wonderful.

Beautiful Whisky. Smooth and tasty. I would highly recommend this whisky. The age of the whisky doesn't matter about the taste at all. You can have young whisky that is of a far higher quality than that of an 18 yr reserve. This is one of those whisky's.
