I favor file-tread patterns like this tire has for most general use purposes (obviously not including mud); they're smooth enough for an enjoyable and quiet ride on pavement, and they're also just "tready" enough to do well in mild loose material (like dirt/gravel roads, general two-track use, etc). I'm not a cyclocrosser, but tires like this generally fit my general use pattern.I have a Trek Verve 3, which came with 700x35 tires that inflate up to only about 33mm wide and about 31mm tall (from the edge of the rim). I generally prefer a little more volume than that. Trek advises that a 38mm tire is the largest they recommend. These Continentals are nominally 700x42, but they air up to about 38-39mm,perfect for my application. I could probably force-fit a 40mm tire on it, but that would be pushing it, both in terms of frame clearance and rim width (16mm inside width on the stock Bontrager AT-750 rims). So, by size, these tires are perfect for me. They mounted easily (this is the first folding bead tire I've had, and they were a cinch to install). I also liked how thin the casing is on this tire. I'm pretty careful where and how I ride, and I'm not prone to flatting. Rather than super thick "bombproof" touring tires that ride more like wooden hoops (like a Marathon or similar), I prefer a tire with a thinner casing for a more supple ride while still using a conventional rubber tube.On the road and trail, they're wonderful. I weigh about 235 pounds, and keep these inflated to about 45 psi in the front and 55 psi in the rear. This is enough air to keep them from pinch-flatting on gravel/tree roots/manhole covers while also delivering a comfortable ride and good contact patch for traction. I'm not a fan of inflating pneumatic tires so high that you might as well be using a solid tire -- I like a little more compliance for ride comfort and conformance to the surface for traction.Aesthetically, the tire looks great. The sidewalls have a very clean look to them and the Continental logo stampings are classy and subtle. These tires are a great buy. I like them so much on my Trek, these are probably what I'll put on my daughter's Raleigh Alysa when the stock Kenda Kwiks need replacing.

Nice, faster and lighter folding tire, which also rolls very quietly thanks to its relatively flat profile on the tread. He needs a lot of pressure for that; I drive it at 5.0 bar on my everyday bike. Then he is not spongy even when fast cornering. The grip is good on both dry and wet roads - no comparison to Schwalbe Marathon Supreme (622-42), which can slide properly on wet roads. On mineral gravel in the park, it runs well, but this is exactly this underground, with its small, sometimes sharp stones also a problem: The stones wedged in the profile (sounds like spikes) and pierce it occasionally; on meanwhile 300 km mileage I already had 2 punctures! The puncture protection Puncture ProTection is definitely worse than I'm used to from the swallows (1 breakdown at 3,500 km). I'm curious how it will be in winter, when there is scattering everywhere. Nevertheless, I would buy the tire again, just because of its running characteristics!

Good dual sport tire - I run these on my Surly crosscheck, high volume enough to provide a smooth and comfortable ride on rough pavement But It’s grippy enough on good pavement to hold its own with a true road tire. But also has enough bite to not kill you on gravel and non technical dirt.Allows for “interesting diversions” on non paved trails and paths while still maintaining respectable Handling and speed both on and off road.A true road tire will kill it on Good asphalt, (but then again... if you are looking to haul Maximum ass on asphalt BRING A ROAD BIKE) and a true knobby will kill it off road. (As above if you are looking to really shred the gnar RIDE A MOUNTAIN BIKE) But on a big clearance gravel, cross, or hybrid rig... it does both surprisingly well. A good “jack of all trades, master of none” Tire.Wish conti made it in a tubeless version.

I’m an avid cyclist and racer. Put these on my wife’s gravel bike and I’m super impressed with the weight, speed and price. This is a “file tooth” center tread with some, albeit, minimal, side knobs for added corner bite. It’ll be a great tire for commuters or those riding dry gravel roads (that aren’t too chunky) or rough paced surfaces. Wet traction in asphalt should be confident. I’m excited to see how these tires hold up, particularly with puncture protection. And 423 grams at this price point with a folding bead is downright impressive!

Bought these to replace a set of 'Clement' gravel tires. I use a lot of Continental products (tubes & tires), so thought these would be a good purchase. They provide a nice balance of speed, grip and comfort, although I've had a couple of tube fails during the past few hundred miles of riding on the poor NY State roads (probably down to potholes or a pinched tube).

Great price! Bought to replace the stock tires on my gravel bike. I was looking for a bit more width and a smoother pattern. I used them for 185 miles on the C&O Canal with the bike loaded, as well as mixed surface riding from dirt to gravel to pavement. Quite pleased. No flats. Love the feel of the ride, and would (and have) highly recommend.

I experienced many phantom flats As many others have mentioned. No cuts or foreign objects in the tire. I noticed a couple of sharp bumps on the inside of the tires that lined up with the holes in the tubes. Removed these with a razor and no more flats. I absolutely love the ride quality. After 700 miles or so the rear tire is about 50% worn.

I bought this tire for a little vtc / vtt use, what some call gravel. It is sold as a 42 mm tire but it is only 38.5 mm wide. It is quite resistant to puncture and the grip on fatty soil is almost zero, normal it is a tire city. Resistance in time, I do not know. Conclusion, good tire vtc for dry conditions and a price more than reasonable.

A super tire, much better than the original Giant Cross, low rolling resistance, great traction in the sand for the tread pattern. The bike has become 2x faster and 2x more kilometers traveled does not impress. I recommend Continental product :)

is a good band , according to the website are folded, however a wire tie (Taking as a spare tire, which is difficult with) first one and a half week 3 times a-flat tire, coincidence ??? I hope so !!

Boats from deep-drawn 28c to these on the front wheel and there is a huge difference in comfort and sound. Probably better roll too, but it is not as significant. No punk after a fall and spring.

Great tire if you have the right need and tire clearance. The lightest 42mm tire I have used. Definitely fast rolling with just a little extra grip for corners and grassy terrain.

I need them for work every day. For this, also drive meadow and forest paths. I'm very happy with it, even when wet!

Good hybrid bike tire, the appearance is good and the grip is enough for this type of bike.
