These tires are absolute beast's! The motto for these tires should be "If you have the guts to go for it, these tires will grip it!!!" The trail by my house is a 15-ish mile loop and it has everything you could possibly imagine in a trail all in one. From my front door you ride a mile or so and then hit a gravel road for about 100 yards. After that, the trail narrows to around 18 inches and its a ride through grass that varies in height from hip to over 6 feet. That last for around a mile then it goes to around 5 feet wide and its a ride through fallen leaves, roots, and hay. After around a half mile of that, the hell begins.It starts out as very loose gravel from pea to softball size and then goes straight into a rock garden from softball size all the way up to rocks bigger than a cars hood. There's very loose sand, gravel, deep mud, hard packed dirt, dirt the consistency of powdered sugar, leaf litter, pine needles, roots from large to small, large ruts, downed dead tree stumps, and just about everything a trail could have all in one. NEVER ONCE DID I WIPE OUT!!! I rode these hard and was picking the worst lines possible and they griped everything. When they did break loose they would stutter, meaning they would grip, slip, grip, slip, grip, but they never fishtailed. Even in loose turns at high speed they stayed hooked up. They stayed glued to the ground under all trail conditions so well it was kind of scary. When you go through mud it only takes around 10 revolutions and they are clean. I have never jumped on the tubeless bandwagon, but with tubes and rim strips I ran these tires from 15 to 25 pounds of air and never had problem! Even when the trail got nasty they were flawless!!! Now for the flaws. They are heavier by around half a pound each tire and have more rolling resistance than the Vee Rubber 8's I just took off. Of course, the Vee Rubber 8's are slicks and are more geared for street and not so much trail. With the Vee Rubber 8's, the trail would usually take me around 2 hours and 15 minutes because I had to go slower and walk a bike in some sections where they would not get traction. The Mountain Kings took me longer to get to the trail, but, when I hit the trail I was flying. My first time was 1 hour and 45 minutes, and that's riding timid in some sections where I wiped out with the 8's. They are not 2.4 inches wide as they claim. They are actually 2.25. Not a big difference but I wish they would list actual size. I am not picking on Continental only as all tire makers do it. If traction is you're main goal than these are the tires for you. They don't roll as fast as Specialized Ground Control but grip much better for a fraction of the price! These tires rock!!!

I am just a regular mtb biker but I wanted to start taking more technical trails so I ordered a couple of the Mountain King 29x2.2 to replace the stock WTB wolverine tires that came with my bike. Here are some comments I want to share:As many buyers mentioned the tires look narrow so I assume they do not have the correct size, unfortunately I do not have calipers to confirm this. They looked narrower than the wolverine. The tires are tubeless ready but I use tubes, they were very easy to install.I had run them for a week on regular trails and pavement and they perform better than my old tires, the grip is awesome and the rolling resistance is less than I expected.Today I took them to a more agressive,loose and very rocky trail, they worked great the entire way, it was easier to climb and they perform excelent in the downhill portion, they took every obstacle without any issue you can feel the grip between the tires and the rocks actually I could hear them.So far I am more than happy with the tires and definitely recommend anyone to buy them, if you can get the 2.4 size I am sure they would be better.

I was riding Maxxis Ardents in 2.25 (which has a markedly different and I'd say less aggressive tread profile than the 2.4's so keep that in mind) and the Mountain Kings are much better.There is one area I ride in particular that requires climbing a granite slab at an angle. I was always lucky to make it with the Ardents and the tires would always slip/struggle even when I did. With the Mountain Kings, not only am I now 100% on that section but there is zero slip while climbing.I ran both tires tubeless. The protected version of the Mountain Kings seated without sealant. I added sealant anyway and unlike the Ardents, I don't have any bleed through the sidewall or the bead.

Got the 26x2.4 for the front my my Giant and LOVE IT! Had the Nobby Nic 26x2.35 on there and I can definitely ride harder and more aggressive down. Rolling Resistance isn't bad either, but I'm 200 lbs without any gear, so I wouldn't know. There's a ton of tread on these! They actually rubbed a little on my front mini-fender. I'm in NorCal, Humboldt area, and these tires have performed very well. A big improvement! I'll probably get another continental tire when my rear Nobby Nic wears down. Price was fair, I'm not spending more than $40 on bicycle tire! Get em!

I had a set of these previously on my Jamis 29'er and they worked great. I sold that bike (29 not for me) and got anotherJamis only this time 26.5 with a smaller frame. Stock tires not so good, bought a set of 2.35 X 26.5 Bontranger X-4 Experts for way too much money on the sales man;s recommendation. Rode those for a few months and hated them. Too big, too floaty - maybe good for soft surface. Went back to the Conti's (smaller at 2.20) and they really dig in. Better steering, better traction on climbs. Nicequality as always from Conti, and easy to install.

May be a little on the heavy side if your a light weight but down hill these are beasts.Awesome traction uphill with no slippage at all from past 3 rides (30 miles total & at least 10 miles hard core uphill). Previous tires were stock rapid robs that worked ok but these are a hell of an upgrade for the price.if you ride mostly street I'd look elsewhere as these may slow you down due to knobby "trail" treaded wheels. Kinda noisy On Pavement

I mounted these on some Stan's wheels and didn't need to use a compressor to seat the bead, just quick pumping with a floor pump. They almost held pressure without any sealant! Used ~2.5oz sealant and now they are completely sealed. The interior wall construction is definitely thicker with ProTection, but this is what you want with a tubeless set up when you will be crushing the sidewalls constantly on the trail running sub-25 PSI.

Compared to Specialized Grid tires that I previously had they seem to be as narrow as the Specialized 2.1 I had despite having larger supposed width by number. They do seem to not wear as easily as the Soecialized Grid and still provide good grip on the trails I ride in Las Vegas. Side walls and knobs seem to be sturdier too as I have scraped against plenty of rocks with no damage so far.

These tires are so grippy! They do well in hard pack and wet situations and ok in super dry sandy environments. They are on the heavy side for climbing but they grip and perform awesome on the downhill. I would prefer these tires to be a bit wider because 2.16" is a bit thin. I would suggest using these as a rear tire and get a 2.4" as a front. Overall, these tires perform great!

These are the bomb? I signed up to do the Fruita and Moab Kokopelli ride and the organizer recommended these tires. They are very stable and handle a lot a abuse. Not too soft so you can use them if you have Tarmac riding in the mix. I went 2.4 front and 2.2 back - really do love these tires they are my go to!

I used the 2.2-wide tire for the rear of my mountain bike. I have gone tubeless. It sealed up with no problem once I got the bead to pop into place. Not only did it replace my failed tire, but the bike seems to handle a good bit better than it did. I am happy with this tire.

Amazing tires, they GRIP! I took them up into Annadel Park after a rain and WOW, never even slipped.....My first pair of high end tires, and wow, I am sold! They run great on my OGRE, as I have no suspension, so they are perfectly over sized. 2 thumbs up. I love CONTI !

Awesome tires I'm 6'0 and my weight is 350 pounds I don't have any problems with this tires, running rear tire with 55psi and the front one with 45psi I highly recommend this tires for anyone out there and more if you are trying to lose weight like me :D

Nice tire. Good cornering. Fast. Has given me more confidence to leave the ground and reconnect safely. It's on the front of my stump jumper FSR expert with a Tsali forte on the rear. Good fast combination.

Great tires. Order two both made in germany. Installed them with continental tubeless liquid to make them work great. No air lost. Already put 559 km and have had no problems
