This tire is an excellent choice for everyday applications. Contrary to some reviews, any pebbles in between the tread won't sneak their way to the tube and cause a flat. To have that happen would require something sharp, like a tack, nail, staple, etc. And in those cases, almost any tire will fail, so it's not a problem with these Continentals in particular---it'd happen to your car tire just the same. These tires are pretty beefy for a bicycle tire; they are not light weight race tires by any stretch of imagination, but they are better than the OEM tires on kid bikes these days. The tires I received were made in India, not Germany; but quality seems equivalently good. The tire has a steel bead and requires some wrestling to get it on, which is typical for Continental tires and makes for a good fit.I bought the "12x2.5" version as an upgrade for my kid's bicycle. It is a major upgrade compared to the lousy tires that afflict most kid's bicycles. Why would I upgrade? Because the tires are the only thing that keep you on the road---they are the point of contact. Don't skimp. The tread on these tires is best for pavement or hardpack surfaces. It's not meant for loose sand or wet mud. Any tire meant for those latter applications would deliver sub-optimal performance on pavement and hardpack; it's a simple trade-off that you have to decide on. The tread on these Conti tires also provides less rolling resistance along with a smoother ride. In the case of my kid's bicycle, this means more fun going faster, with better grip when turning. One note on sizing for this tire: it is currently listed on Amazon as a 12"x2.5" tire. This roughly corresponds to the wheel size. The actual dimension of the tire (as also listed on the tire sidewall) is: 12 1/2" x 2 1/4". Since there may be confusion about these dimensions (does 12 1/2 = 12.5 in the bicycle tire world?), the ETRTO is 62-203. This tire will fit any kid's bicycle wheel being sold as a 12-inch kids bike.Pros: excellent Conti quality, smooth rolling, excellent traction for everyday riding, a smart upgradeCons: not a cheap tire, typically tight Conti bead

I commute 20 miles round trip to work a few days a week on a road bike. I got these for my road bike for a "rails to trails" (packed gravel usually) ride coming up & didn't want to go all out and buy a mountain bike right now. My rims are spec'd for (700x) 25 mm tires, but prefer to ride with 23 mm tires for less road contact; I bought these as 28 mm for more cushion and wider / better traction on the non-paved surfaces. Took them out for 10 miles on the American Tobacco Trail to test them out before the big ride ... and these tires are BEAST! (that's a good thing). They were perfect on both the paved and unpaved portions, smoothly riding on and off the pavement, even riding off the edge onto gravel and back on to pavement without slips. So I left them on for a week and did my daily commute for another ~40 miles. They were awesome! I actually improved from just over 15 mph average to 17 mph avg (a pretty big jump in a week) -- could be getting in better shape (was also experimenting with seats), but the point is the treads didn't slow me down on the road and didn't feel like they were adding any notable drag compared to my road slicks. I think the really narrow center bead on these really lets the tread sit nicely off the pavement when going straight; meanwhile, when turning or going through typical road debris (sand, gravel, glass, nails, car parts ...), the treads were available and the tires didn't flinch. Normally, I avoid every pebble in the road for fear of flats or derailments; with these tires, I rode right over the top of it all with hardly a second thought. My only complaint is that when I raced my 14 year old tennis player son on said packed gravel trail for a few miles, he just beat me at the end; I blame the tires.

I purchased this a pair of these tires (700 x 28C) for my commuting bike. As of today I have about 2500 miles on the pair. My mistake was not to rotate the tires at 1000 miles. My rear tire is pretty worn and in need (but not dire need) of replacement. My front tire looks to have about 75% of its life left. With proper rotation I bet you could easily get over 3000-3500 miles on the pair.Did I mention I have not had a flat tire in all that time? I have not. I ride mostly bike paths and roads but on occasion I use the bike for gravel grinders and have even seen some single track. My typical day involves a full pannier set up with clothes and lunch for work. I used these tires on a mini-tour with fully loaded panniers (tent, sleeping bag, etc...).The testament to how awesome I think these tires are is I purchased a second pair (700 x 32C) for my wife's touring bike. The tires roll quite nicely as well.... they are fast on the straights... I set my PR on my way to work with these tires... faster than my road racing bike. Early on it takes some adjustment to get used to how grippy these tires are during sharp turns... you can literally feel the tread grab the surface through your handlebars as you loose speed around sharp curves... that is if you are used to traditional road racing tires. For me it was not a problem as I soon learned to dig into the turns for added fun on my commute. The only think I will note is I have seen some reviews/comments about the sidewall deteriorating... my 28C's flaked a little around the Continental logo on the sidewall. My wife's 700 x 32C tires seemed to be of a more recent year as the compound is a little more moist (oily?) and I have not seen the same flaking.

I haven't put any miles on these yet, but I wanted to relate my experiences so far based on the installation of the 700X37 Tour Ride Tires. I was a little apprehensive ordering these tires as I planned to mount them on Sun CR18's, rims that have a reputation for being a little oversized and difficult to mount tires on. I had problems in the past with Serfas tires on these rims. I am happy to report that these tires mounted on the CR18's quite easily. I did use a 25-32 sized tube which may have helped. The tires' width on these rims are only 33mm, as opposed to the 37mm sized they are described to be. Still, they seem pretty massive on my touring bike, I can't wait to try these out on my favorite dirt roads!I'll update this review once I get some miles on them.**UPDATE** After about 800 miles, including a 400+ mile loaded tour, these tires continue to hold up well. They seem to have stretched out to just under 35mm width on the CR18s. I can't say they are invulnerable to flats however, I've had 2 from goathead stickers and one from a small piece of wire, but those things will go through almost any tire. The ride on pavement is fine and they felt very good on the dirt roads I've used them on. No sign of sidewall failure yet, so overall I'm pretty satisfied with these tires.

Hi AllI'm using a road bike for commuting, it is all weather all hours commuting, I have fitted a pair of 32c conti tour ride tyres.I am a heavier rider ~100kg and am not shy to give my bike a bit of abuse - I will hop curbs and cycle down ~ 2 steps without a thought, also use paths, cycle lanes and gravel routes or rough foot paths. I recommend this tyre for commmuting. Previously I was on a standard road tyre, I twice slipped and fell in the wet. I've not fallen nor had any puncture troubles since fitting the continental tour ride tyres. They are extremely hard wearing, tough and will give a road bike the sort of traction that you'd expect with a hybrid to enabling commuting through roughroutes on a decent bike; as a trade off it is much more energy efficient to commute with a good quality road bike on touring tyres (28c or 32c) than to use a hybrid; these conti tour ride tyres allow just this.

These tires are exceptional! They provide great grip in gravel and looser pavement but roll effortlessly on smooth surfaces. I've been on all sorts of terrain with these tires from country gravel roads to dirt paths to city streets and they've preformed wonderfully. My two caveats are: one, they wear quickly on slides, I did once on smooth pavement in my driveway to test they're grip. The grip is excellent but the rear tires left a long black strip on and was easy to find exactly where it came from. second, is the width.. they seem a bit narrower than other tires I've tried in this size which is somewhat disappointing because I wanted a little more stability and weight management as I bought these for my tourer.I would buy these again for a commuter tire without hesitation or if I cant find a wider 27 x 1 1/4 for my touring bike

I bought these for my wife's Trek hybrid bike. She spends most of her time on the street or paved bike paths. But we ride on the occasional dirt trail, or gravel road. These tires fit the bill perfectly. They have a nice center ridge for low resistance paved riding. She can more easily keep up with me than when she had to factory original tires. The rest of the tire has a decent grip tread for off road trails. They seem to be pretty tough, as she has not have any flats from urban obstacles like glass, cracks and curbs. Nor have there been any issues off road in rocks or roots. They look great too with the raised colored lettering. I will buy more of these when we wear them out,but with a lot of miles already, that looks to be a long way off.

I got these for a 50 mile ride along some rough roads (mostly pavement, a little dirt) in Mexico on an aluminum road bike, switching out some Conti Gatorskins I had before. These held up well, but keep in mind that the rolling resistance is greatly increased so don't expect the same speeds you get with high PSI road tires. I had trouble keeping up with others that opted to risk riding normal road tires (none of them had any flats BTW). So I would use these for casual rides along uneven surfaces, but if you are an experienced road cyclist used to low rolling resistance, these are NOT replacements for high PSI puncture-resistant road tires.

Put these tires on my 20 year old hybrid hoping to get a tire that worked on crushed limestone and pavement. The tires are great on the road. They are not so good on crushed limestone, if you ride even a little fast. Hitting almost any curve going over 12 mph, can be interesting. I have had the front tire float, and the rear completely wash out. Also pretty easy to spin the rear going up hill if surface is loose. Probably great for a casual ride, but not good if you want to go fast. That may seem like an obvious statement because this is an urban tire, but I bought these tires because I read reviews that said they were good on gravel.

I've had these tires for over six months now and can't find a single thing to complain about. Yesterday my girlfriend and I went on a bike ride, she got a flat from a thorn on the ride back. Once we got home I patched her hole and noticed I had the same kind of thorn stuck in my front tire. After deflating the tube and removing the tire I checked the inside where the thorn was imbedded. Although it was stuck in my tire and I did ride on it for some time the thorn never fully penetrated my tire. Can't say how surprised I was to actually see that. As far as I'm concerned this is a fantastic tire and I recommend giving it a try

I ride trails in Tennessee that have damp rocks, wet roots and tacky or sometimes muddy, sometimes dry, soil and these tire perform excellent in all of those conditions. I can corner pretty well in all conditions, too. Overall, I really like these tires. In spite of riding on pavement a few times, the tires lasted well over 3 years and I have recently replaced them with a fresh, new set on my Specialized Comp FSR with the 26x2.2's. I also have a Specialized Rockhopper and I installed the 26x2.4's. They are definitely not the lightest tire, so I wouldn't recommend them for racing. But overall I am very happy with them.

I've had these tires for over a week now and they are everything I has hoping for. I ride in a urban environment, (gravel, sand, glass, pot holes, busted sidewalks and no sidewalks), and these tires are perfect. I am no longer hesitant to ride through gravel or sand worrying I might wipe out. Got caught in a heavy rain downpour and these tires cut through the water, had traction , and felt firm on the wet road. They also roll much faster than I was expecting, thinking that the deep tread might slow me down. Over all , these tires are perfect for my needs and would recommend them to any one who rides in the city.

Not put them on my bike yet. So will update review accordingly. They are continental's and certainly look aesthetically pleasing. I have taken a few pictures. One is a comparision against my old 700c x 42 Tyres. The continental's are 700c x 32. So for anyone wanting to run a slimmer tyre you can get an idea of size. The tred looks good just hoping this tred is more puncture resistant and doesn't trap stones but like I said will need to update. You can see very faintly inside the wire beading in copper but no sharp pieces found sticking out and surface is smoothHappy so far!!

I bought these tires for my son's 24" mountain bike so he can go on longer street rides with me. They have low rolling resistance for street use, and good grip for dirt paths. He likes to ride the washed out dirt paths at the lake and the wildlife refuge, and these tires have just enough tread to cope with the paths, while the smooth center strip helps them roll well on pavement. It is hard to find versatile tires for a 24" mountain bike, as most tires you find are knobby mountain bike tires. For our uses, these tires are a great improvement over the OEM knobby tires.

I've used this tyre since moving over from the Double Fighters II, happy enough with it, rolls well but ignore what it says about protecting from puntures. I have had a couple of puntures already. Also once tread has worn slightly your punctures will increase again. I get approx 6 months our of a tyre on my rear wheel. I ride twice daily 26 mile roundtrip on road and paving stones. They are lined with trees so often have twigs and things that can cause punctures. These tyres dont sufficiently protect themselves for them being a fast rolling tyre.
