I'm leaving this review based on first impressions--the shirt has not been worn other than an initial try-on. If my opinion takes a nose dive after wearing it several times, I'll update.I purchased the "bluebell." The color is a little blah. It's not terrible, but it's not great. Personal preference, of course. (I chose this color because it was the cheapest, other than the hot pink--which I definitely didn't want.)The shirt came out of the package with heavy creases where it was folded, but no other actual wrinkling, so I have hope that it will wash and wear well without ironing. The material seems like it *should* hold up to the amount of use I'll put it through next summer (a 60 day hiking/camping/road trip through national parks). If it doesn't, I'll come back and update. The material also has a little bit of stretch to it, which is nice. It feels light--great to keep the sun off you, not enough material to suffocate you. But, really, I want to talk about sizing since it seems to be all anyone else can talk about with respect to this item. I'm 5'8", 130 lbs, wear a 34D bra, and have a very long torso and very long arms. I have a 28" waist and 38" hips.Roughly 80% of the tops I own--be they tanks, tees, button downs, sweaters, whatever--are a size S. The other 20% are a size M (and a lot of those are on the "slightly too big for me, but the small was too small for me" side). That being said, based on all of the reviews I read, I bought this shirt in a Large. While I figured I'd mostly wear this open over a tank (just to keep the sun off my arms, back, and shoulders), I was afraid that if I did have a desire to button it, I wouldn't be able to do so if I ordered a Medium. The large I ordered is definitely too big, with one notable exception--the shoulders. The sleeves are slightly too long (which, frankly, is a treat considering I usually have the opposite problem). I could probably take in a couple of inches on EACH SIDE of the torso. I could probably take in a total of two inches in the bust area, but I think going down a size may make it too snug to button without it gaping. As for my shoulders, I've never considered myself to be broad-shouldered, but perhaps I am??? I feel like this Large fits me in the shoulder area, maybe with a hair extra room. If I went down a size, it would be too tight in the shoulders and I would likely feel constricted if I had the shirt buttoned and was trying to move as much as I plan to (setting up camp, etc). If I knew for a fact that I would NEVER button this shirt at all and always leave it open, I'd exchange it for a Medium. In sum, I mostly wear size Small, rarely a Medium, but ordered a Large in this shirt. It's way too big in the waist, the sleeves are too long, it's only slightly too big in the bust, and the shoulders fit fine.I guess the moral of this story is, if you're always a solid size Small in all of your clothes, order the Medium in this shirt. Unless you have broad shoulders. In that case, buy a Large. Unless you're never going to button it. In which case, you should probably buy the Medium.

I'm 5'2", 115 lbs, and the XS fit me well with room for another shirt underneath. The white color is thankfully thick enough that the extra shirt is NOT needed, so long as you're wearing a nude / skin-colored bra underneath. The shirt looks really nice, almost good enough to wear to work (aside from that unnecessary logo on the sleeve). The sleeves don't unroll themselves once rolled, and the cuff is actually curved a bit to shield more of your hand from sun and bugs. The zippered breast pocket is kind of a joke -- you can't really store much in there if you've got large breasts, and if you have small ones, a lip balm, ID, or passport will clearly stick out. There is a little gaping between buttons on the shirt when I stretch, but it's not particularly bothersome.Overall, I think this will be great for travel to hot or humid areas, but I'm on the lookout for a similar shirt with more useful storage that I could potentially wear to work.UPDATE: If you're purchasing this for travel where you'll have limited laundry access, and particularly if you're planning on hiking, the white color will NOT be your friend. The basketweave picks up dirt relatively easily, so you're better off choosing a darker or warm-hued color.

This maybe the perfect shirt EVER. Not sheer yet light as a feather, dries instantly. Sleeve length good and has sculpted cuff so a bit longer on top than under wrist. Easily buttons up to elbow length. Flip up sun shade inside collar for scorching hikes in Zion. Length is perfect, stops just below hips, has nicely finished hem for wearing untucked. I'm 5'6" tall, 148 lbs, athletic, narrow hips but 36D. Its tapered through the waist (flattering), roomy in shoulders and bust. I sized up to L and it fit perfectly. So, I tied a biz trip to a hiking weekend. I wore the shirt under a blazer for work with a pair of crop pants. It went from the office to the mountains. The collar and style looked perfectly polished.** Only thing I would change, relocate the zip pocket for cell phones and trail bars to the lower back area instead of chest. Finally, I ordered the coral and white. I washed the coral with a white dishtowel by mistake... NO COLOR BLEED whatsoever. Wow! Great fabric.

I love the material and the style of the Silver Ridge shirt. I am going for sun protection and also keeping cool and this fits that bill. I love the role up sleeve option, and how the collar has an extra piece of fabric hidden in it that you can pull out if you want by putting your collar up to cover your neck from the sun rays. I like how it's not boxy (it is attractive and goes in in the middle), and love the bottom how it isn't a straight cut across. This can be worn casual or dressed up or rugged. These are good for hot weather and are so worth the money. There are pockets and a zipper thing (I don't use either), but if you do fishing or all that, you probably would find them handy. They are all in the right places and also another thing I really like is the venting in the back. GREAT SHIRT. GREAT PRODUCT. GREAT INVESTMENT.

I like these shirts a lot. A good black is hard to find in a travel shirt, and this shirt looks pretty good. It's got a nice fitted shape and is long enough. The red is also nice. I like bold colors, and lots of travel shirts have muted, blah colors. The shirts run really small, so they lost a star. That and the "Columbia" on the sleeve. It looks like a pretty normal shirt and washes well in the sink on a trip. I really don't need to advertise Columbia on my arm.I also like White Sierra Gobi shirts (they have a good red and also white, but no black) for travel. They don't advertise the name on the outside of the shirt, so they look more like a normal shirt.

I like this shirt, the fit is nicely tailored and the length is perfect. I purchased it for the UPF factor, as I wanted something that could provide sun protection when I need to get out the door quickly and don't want to take the time to deal with sunscreen. I agree with others that the zip pocket on the chest is silly placement for a women's shirt, I can't see when I'd use it. Having worn it a couple of times I do notice that it seems to trap more heat than a similar shirt I have from Ex Officio, the DryFlyLite. Overall I still like this, though, and it's great for running around town. Washes up beautifully and air dries quickly.

These shirts are made out of breathable fabric butthe majority in the same category is not. So many times we have the sun protection feature and start sweeting like if being in a desert. So I highly recomend the Silver Ridge to feel protected and not into the oven. Also it is stylish for tracking days as well as for a more social ocasion ( diners not much fancy) Columbia did a god job in it and I wish the keep doing other styles with the same fabric. I got once size below my normal one and it fits perfect. Good if people can refine their sizes trough the sizes chart.

Bought this as a work shirt for catering weddings in the summer. This shirt is so nice and cool i don't feel like a sweaty pig while serving people their dinner anymore! The white is a little see threw but it is fine with a white tank top under it. I was worried about the venting on the back sticking out but it lays flat and no one has noticed it unless i point it out. The collar is sturdy enough to wear my tie. I bought a second white shirt for when i have multi wedding weekends and look forward to buying a nonwhite shirt for hiking.

Very nice top. I bought the large because some reviews said it ran small. I'm a 34D and pretty much always a medium. The large fit just right. I've only worn it once so far on just a three mile hike with my 20lb pack. I like that I have no chafing problems with the pack straps. It was 90 degrees that day and sunny, but I left the sleeves long and stayed cool and comfortable. I wish the sleeves were a bit looser to make them easier to roll up (and I have kind of skinny arms and smaller shoulders), but not a deal-breaker for me.

Wore this shirt almost every day on vacation in the tropics. Kept the sun off my neck and the bugs off my arms! Great for hot and humid weather.I'm 5'6", 115 lbs and ordered a small - I have kind of broad shoulders and a small everything else, but luckily didn't have any issues with the cut being constricting in the shoulders and then baggy the rest of the way down. It fit as expected, a little bit of extra room around the midsection, but fitted enough that it wasn't boxy.Would recommend.

I LOVE these shirts. They fit beautifully (Medium fits me -5'7" 36C) with no boob gap, and the buttons are at the perfect spot so leaving a couple open isn't too prudish or too revealing. Also, I work outside in Florida for 8 hours and the white is a must have if you're in the sun-- it's the only shirt and only color that keeps me as cool as possible. I also really like the breast pocket for my phone --fits perfectly and easy to get in and out.

We have hiked in 30+ US National Parks and this is my favorite shirt. I own several colors. I like that there is a little “hidden collar” inside the collar - just flip it up for more neck coverage from the sun. Also the cuff curves down a bit to protect your hands. Washes well, dries quickly. This is a slim cut, fitted in the waist, so consider sizing up. REI makes good durable, practical basic, too, with a straighter cut. Have fun out there!

This is a terrific, lightweight, easy wash and wear shirt that nips in a little at the waist unlike so many "hiking" shirts for women, so you can actually look like a woman instead of a guy, even when on the trail. The medium was just a tad tight at the bottom, because I don't have a skinny rear, so I went up to the large and it still fits fine. Washes fast, dries in a zip, protects you from the sun, and looks pretty sharp. Happy camper!

The ONLY things I didn’t like:- I wish it were a little longer so that when tucked into pants it would be less likely to come untucked (it’s still longer than many other shirts)- I wear an XS but I still have a decent bust. So while flattering, it’s still a wee bit tight there. Would be perfect for most XS wearers (or if I didn’t have to button up).Otherwise, this shirt is perfect and I intend on purchasing many more.

I am grateful to other reviewers that warned this shirt runs small. I feel comfortable in large shirts, but sized up to extra large and it fits great. So I suggest sizing up. It's a nice shirt with an extra button sewn in and thoughtful detailing. It's a flattering cut. I washed it in cold, and it took about five hours for it to dry on a hanger indoors. You can dry it on low in the dryer. It will be great for travel.
