Time finally came to retire my previous, 15+ year old, Columbia 3-in-1 ski parka. I found this on a lightning deal and decided to take a chance. First: yes, as others have said, this coat runs very large. I usually wear an XL and so ordered and L, and even a full size down this coat is still on the large side. Second: I have no idea what the reviewers who write about loose buttons are going on about; there is not a single button on this coat; it's all snaps and zippers. Now down to brass tacks. This is a nice coat that has already received compliments in the few days I have owned it. We haven't had any rain recently, so I can't yet speak to the 100% guaranteed waterproof qualities. With the liner it is warm enough to wear over nothing more than a t-shirt down to the high 20'sF. This will be a nice transition garment to wear between a shell and a parka. It really does seem more a coat designed for urban rather than active wear. Can't say that it appears designed for any specific activities. It has no pit-zips or any other ventilation other than the claimed breath-ability of the fabric and, of course, opening the front. Maybe as a shell for some light hiking. I do not get the impression that this coat will last as long as my previous Columbia parka. The hand-warmer pockets are half lined with what feels like very light fleece/tricot that seems very delicate: I am hesitant to even put my keys in them; I guess they were meant for nothing more than hands! I do give it a big plus for not having any Velcro though.October 18, 2016: six months of steady use and still quite happy with this jacket. Have taken it on multiple excursions in addition to daily wear. It is holding up just fine.

I live in Central WA, and we get a true 4 seasons. With the interchange system that Columbia has, this jacket will work well with all the seasons with the exception of Summer, when a coat is not needed, unless it rains, which is pretty rare in Summer.I like to wear just the inner puffy coat layer when it's cold but dry. It's super lightweight, but still keeps me warm as it seems to have great insulation. The Omnitech liner is pretty sweet. That coupled with the polyfill or whatever they use, it is nice. The outer puffy coat layer seems to block wind well. It's your typical Nylon type fabric. It has pockets that are lined with a soft material,so it feels good and keeps the hands warm.I like to wear just the outer shell if it's raining but temps aren't freezing. It blocks water well and has hood that can be detached. Has several pockets and the main hand pockets are also soft lined in the outer shell, so keeps the hands warm and dry. When it's really cold or snowy, I wear the full inner/outer combo. The inner coat zips into the outer shell. There are also button fasteners that hook up to the sleeve cuffs and the top of the neck to keep the inner and outer shell cohesive. This combo will keep you warm and dry in even harsh conditions.Another plus is that this jacket looks nice enough to wear in an office/work setting.Sizing is great. I'm a big guy and typically wear 3xl is most brands. In the big n tall sizing, the 2xl was perfect for me. I'm about 5'11", 285

I bought this jacket to take on my trip to Iceland during the beginning of March, and I'm very glad I chose this one over all the other options I saw! First, I have to say that the design is very stylish and comfortable. I really disliked a bunch of the other options I saw because they looked bulky, but this looks great and doesn't feel like you're wearing a barrel on top of you. The triple layer design is awesome too, as you can always unzip the bottom layer if it gets too hot. The rain-proof top is also VERY useful, and I can verify that it's waterproof, because I walked out in the snow and also rain and I never felt water getting inside. It dries off really quick as well.It really served its purpose protecting me from 28-35 degrees Farenheit weather, with lots of wind and sometimes snow!I do have to say though, as most reviews state, it runs large, so I'm a 5'10" guy that weighs 160lbs and normally wears Medium, and the Small fit me perfectly. A Medium would have been too big on me. ALSO, and I really wish I had read this from other reviewers, the color of the Delta/Black option is WAY darker than the photo shown on Amazon. I really wish it would've been as light as the photo, and it surprised me of how much darker it was, but it wasn't a deal breaker for me.

So far so good, with this jacket. I live in Arizona, so I've never invested too heavily in winter clothing. I needed something that could keep me warm for trips into the snow, and also something that I could use while hiking/backpacking. Something like this seemed like a great option, as it's a 3-in-1. You can wear the shell if you're just trying to stay dry, the insert if you're just trying to stay warm, or both at the same time if you are in very cold/wet conditions. We ended up getting snowed on pretty bad and this jacket kept me warm and dry. With a base layer or another thin jacket, I was fine in 20 degree F weather.I'm a large guy (6'1", 220 lbs, 44" chest), but I exchanged my jacket for a medium. The large was way too big! the jacket was way too roomy and the sleeves hung nearly to my fingertips. Many others have stated the same thing on Amazon and on the Columbia website. Size down, and if you don't feel like it's a good fit you can always swap up for the larger size. The only reason I can't give this jacket five stars is because of the sizing. The medium is nearly perfect, but there are a couple areas that I wish fit better. The large was too large in almost every way. It seems like the jacket is made between traditional sizes.

Great coat, well-finished. Plenty of pockets. The liner can be worn as a separate jacket and looks very nice by itself. The hood is unlined and detachable. One will need a hat or cap to keep one's head warm in cold weather. Given my height, about 5'7" and coat size, 44", I had to order XL. It fit great, true to size, comfortable. Of course, the sleeves are too long for my height, but don't blame it on the coat. I solved this problem by blousing the sleeves above my wrists with some velcro strips sold by Amazon; a very practical solution that works great. Could not believe the discounted price; enough to pay for my Prime subscription for next year.Columbia products are excellent and one cannot go wrong at Amazon's price.

I'm definitely satisfied with my purchase. I love the color and recently I wore it over a couple layers during a snow storm and it kept me pretty dry. I would suggest getting a size down like others have said. I'm 5'9 180lbs. I usually get a large in shirts and jackets but the medium in this jacket fits me perfectly. I also like the length. It goes down to the middle of my thighs. My one complaint and why I'm not giving it 5 stars is because of the hood. It doesn't stay up when I'm walking with no wind unless I tighten it all the way around my head. But maybe It's just that my head is a weird shape.Either way I would recommend this to anyone looking for a waterproof jacket that's not a north face.

This is an improved version of the coat I already had that lasted me 9 years (normal and some outdoors use over the years). I originally paid $150 for that coat. When I saw this one on amazon priced in the $50 range I had to do it. The omni heat will keep you warm in the coldest temperatures as I can confirm with my old one (where I live it has reached -15 F over the winters I had the other coat). On the old one the lining in the arms was finally starting to wear out so that is why I ended up getting this one since it is probably easier than getting the other one repaired. The new one is more well made than my last one so I am interested to see how many years I can get out of this one.

We're going to make this simple, if you're a TALL guy, and I mean over 6 foot 5, this jacket is for you. I'm 6'7" and under 200 pounds, and this jacket fits in the sleeves AND CHEST! Buy it, love it, stop wasting time on more shopping. The features are all outlined in the product description, so I'll save the redundancy.I bought the jacket for skiing around Aspen, but the real test has been snowmobiling. If I can stay warm for hours going 40mph+ in blowing snow and ice, in below zero temperature, you'll be warm on the ski slope. As an added bonus, the liner makes a great light jacket all by itself. Great product.

I use this coat for all my outdoor activities, except for mechanical work that could be greasy or destructive to my clothing. As an old person in a cold and snow area at a high elevation, 1400 ft, in the Berkshire hills, I really needed a waterproof, warm coat. This coat is both, and is warm enough that I am almost too warm on occasion. Older people have circulatory issues that reduce their ability to feel warm. This coat really makes me feel warm when out even in really windy and cold conditions. Highly recommended. Also the coat looks good on.

great coat, highly recommended, the delivery was fast and it got to me before the estimated time. Only problem is, that i got a weird massage after i placed my order, asking me to pay an extra 0.28$, but only by credit card (and not paypal). that sounded a bit weird, so i sent trekkinn 2 massages regarding it, but they didn't replay. I didn't pay that extra charge, and the coat got to me anyway, so i guess it's a phishing scam of some sort. even though i don't think trekkinn have any connection to that, beware :)

I was looking for a winter urban jacket which I can use in sub zero weather, with a lesser sporty outdoor look. Columbia Horizon ticked all the boxes for me. It is light in weight, not bulky yet very warm and comfortable to wear. I have been out in -7c with one layer underneath (not even a thermal) and felt very comfortable thanks to the omni heat. Unfortunately, the small size is too big for me and XS is not in the horizon. I recommend this jacket and I would not hesitate to order a smaller size if available.

I did not buy off Amazon however having worn this jacket for a number of weeks I feel I should comment. It is very comfortable and warm. The inside jacket is short and perfect as a "car jacket". The colour is nice and the leather details on the zips make the jacket casual enough to wear out. Happy with my purchase. One star taken off because there is no inside pocket in the outer jacket. Also the hood attaches with buttons and boot a zip.

This jacket kept my husband completely comfy throughout a weeklong trip to Iceland. The weather ranged from cool and fine, to fierce winds and torrential downpours. Even the contents of his zippered pockets stayed dry! He hates when I buy him clothes, but he admitted that he loved this jacket and probably would have been miserable throughout the trip if the jacket’s weatherproofing features had not worked so well.

Really great product. The size (I git Medium) is as expected. The shell material is very strong, plenty of pockets. The main zipper is metal and has large teeth. But I guess, this jacket is mostly designed for casual use: The hood is too large and not adjustable. It is not a good idea to use a press button to attach a hood. Long zipper works much better. But overall, the parka is great and I'm really happy.

I am a big Columbia fan, and so I've ordered this jacket. It does look very nice, no question. The reason I didn't give it 5 starts is because:1. this jacket does not allow you to adjust the bottom width, so your lower back feels cold when it's windy2. the neck in the jacket stays fairly open too, so without a sweater or a scarf, it's not very pleasant when it's cold outside
