Coast HP7R.Photo of a telephone pole at 2am from about 300'My search for a rechargeable flashlight began at Home Depot where I discovered the non rechargeable Coast HP7. Impressed with that ones size and features I figured it don't get no better for the money. Until checking the internet a few days later I did not realize Coast made a rechargeable version. After doing hours of research I ordered the HP7R when I saw it (noting the range is 2x the length of the HP7).When it arrived I gave each cell an initial charge. Then took it outside in daylight to which I was illuminating neighbors license plates at least 500' away better than my big boy Mag Lite.Once it was dark,I noted it's beam distance is at least as long as my Mag Lite, but wider. It lit up a much larger circumfrence just as far away. It'll shine a 1/4 mile easy. It got a little warm after using 10-20 minutes at a time. Not hot though. Flood is nice n wide. Wider than your perifriol (spelling?) vision. No dark shadow in the center like the Mag Lite.I use it at work to light up shadows from flood lights or find ankle twisters on a construction site at night. But being able to light an object at 1000' will come in handy for spotting downed wires and critters lurking in the woods on rural sites.Others have covered the contents of the box...the spare batteries, belt case, cords etc. But folks fail to mention the lanyard (with a Coast insignia). It fits around your wrist ensuring the light will go where you go if you fall or prevent dropping it.Now in a pinch you can temporarily blind your assailant with the mega bright lamp, then with lanyard around your wrist swing the 7oz of pure metal upside their head and run like crazy.Oh, and the charger cord has an attached hook n loop to keep it portable when not in use. Nice touch Coast.Hope I never need the strobe, but glad Coast programmed it 2nd of 3 settings. In a hurry it'll be turned on faster than going to the 3rd setting. I suppose some would prefer 3 light settings (and no strobe) like the non rechargeable HP7.I looked, and looked, and looked on the internet before purchasing the HP7R. Nothing stacked up to the versatility of this light, not even for much more dough. And for the same or less, nothing comes close to the quality, features and portable size.I use my forefinger to turn it on one handed as my hand isn't large enough to do the thumb thing like they do on TV. The focus slides better than the non rechargeable version and lock stays better. The big "C" on the rubberized on/off switch is kinda cool along with the subdued Coast emblem on the side. It was show n tell night on my construction site tonight when I used the little light to light up some shadows to help workers see better.Too bad this thing isn't American made. Because this may be the worlds best rechargeable flashlight. And I've had some good ones. Thanks for reading.

Kick ass flashlight. In comparison To what I've been using for years, it was like I was blind and now I have sight! This to me was expensive for a flashlight, but not all flashlights are equal. My friend is a SWAT officer. He gave me his which he has had and used on duty for years. I tried it out and after the first use taking my dog out to go to the bathroom and being able to avoid all of the landmines I had not picked up yet and illuminating the entire yard I was sold. How quick I forgot about thinking it was expensive and how quick I focused on purchasing one of my own was instantaneous. Best purchase I've made in a long time. It is super rugged, comes with two rechargeable batteries and one battery holder for 4 AAA batteries (which were also included), 2 belt holders, 1 wall mount, a USB charging cable with standard outlet plug and car adapter and a lanyard. Only negative I could come up with is a detailed instruction book/user manual is not included, but if you can't press a button to turn on & off you have other issues than just needing a flashlight. I'd recommend and purchase again. That could be awhile though as they are very durable. My SWAT buddy has had his using in line of duty for years. He's dropped, bumped, used as weapon, etc. and flashlight didn't break, glass didn't break, there were hardly any scratches even. So yes it's durable! I can't vouch for all these flashlights out there claiming a million lumen, I can tell you this flashlights numbers are legit. I know there are a bunch of people out there who will say it's not that bright. In comparison to standard flashlights for normal home users like me this is like having the power of the sun at your finger tips.

This was a considered purchase as it is expensive for a torch.I received it with anticipation but also a touch of anxiety that it would be worth the money. It is. Totally. The torch is slightly bigger and more substantial than my usual maglight. However, it still fits easily in my pocket and the weight 'in hand' is comfortable. The torch is easy to use, with a sturdy on/off button in the end. There are three light options. I have less use for the flicker light, but I use both the dim and super bright options a lot (the super bright is too bright for close-up lighting). The two best features are:1. The fingertip control of the beam from intense spot to broad flood.I've never had this feature in a torch before but now use it all the time. The flood is great for walking as you can see a much bigger area around you (both sides of the lane I walk up including the ditches and hedges - so I feel much safer) and then I can quickly focus the beam to a bright spot that can pick out colour and detail for hundreds of yards ahead.2. The charging options...Two rechargeable cartridges, a battery cartridge and various charger options all come as part of the package. I've had my torch for a couple of months now, use it every day and am only on my second re-charge!! I haven't had to use the batteries at all yet. This is saving me a lot of money by not having to buy expensive disposable batteries.Overall can't recommend this torch highly enough. If you're dithering over the cost (as I did), treat yourself. You won't be disappointed!

I saw the box in store and straight away it gave me that "WOW" factor.Superbly laid out the torch comes complete with 2 rechargeable cartridges, allowing for the torch to be in constant use. Whilst the the cartridge can be charged whilst in the torch the cartridges can also be charged directly so the torch can be being used whilst the second cartridge is being charged (then a straight swap and carry on!) Also a battery case is supplied full of Duracell batteries so in the case of an emergency power outage where you are unlucky enough to have ran out of charge on both rechargeable cells the torch is still fully functional!!!Coast have skimped on nothing here as coming complete with the kit as well as the 3 different battery formats the torch also comes with a wall mounted bracket, belt clip holder, pouch, mains charger, car charger AND it can charge straight from USB!! All this was before I even got to the torch...I've owned a few LED torches but this was absolutely piercing! Coast did not exaggerate with the stated 300 meter beam distance (as we all know some brands do) and whilst this was fantastic it is the flood beam that truly sets this apart. It's a wider flood beam than ANY torch I have ever used (including torches 3/4 times the size) and it is absolutely crystal clear, no rings or dark spots. It is something special.I would absolutely recommend this product for anyone looking for a good rechargeable torch and in honesty the price is good too in comparison to anything of its kind!

It would seem looking at the resume on this torch that £50+ is a lot of moneyfor such a small torch. However when you see the quality inbuilt of theunit along with the small accessories that come with it, it then seemsthe price is well worth it. With a total of three battery packs ( 2 Lithiumbased, one Duracell batteries) a stand alone ac charger with the carplug in adaptor and the ability to charge direct from a USB port.A soft case for belt usage and two clip in mounts (wall etc) the torchhas every accessory that could provide useful. The torch is smaller enough to put in any coats pocket and is thekind of appliance you would take with you when leaving homeover the winter months as you neverknow when you need extralight on dark nights. The performance is excellent for such a small unit and the slidingfocus extends to a beam that lights up a total garden in darkness. The inbuilt charger port is the icing on the cake as you have to twistthe end and pull to expose the normally hidden input which has a powerindicator LED which changes from red to green when charged. So forget about the price, if you want a quality instrument that makesan ordinary torch to appear naff then buy this Coast HP7R in theknowledge you are purchasing one of the best of its kind.

This flashlight is unbelievable! I bought this primarily for light painting and found it almost too bright for that, though you can use it on low beam or with colored filters, which are nice. Working under the house with it was almost like working in daylight. I can focus it on a hill almost a half mile away and distinctly see a dim light on the hill. Battery charges last forever. I have recharged once in a year. Granted I don't use it that much, but this shows how it holds a charge. Two things that could be better: 1) The charge port at the base of the flashlight is almost impossible to use. It says to twist an 8th of a turn and pull, but it just unscrews the battery compartment.I have pulled so hard I worry about damaging something. Managed to find the sweet spot only once despite dozens of tries. I just charge the battery outside of the flashlight. 2) I wish you could go to low beam without cycling through high beam and flasher first. Other than those minor issues it is a great light. Highly recommend.

If you want the light of day in the dark of night in the palm of your hand than buy this flashlight. You can't ask for anything better being so compact and so powerful. It has a controlled flood and focused beam that can shine over 1,000 ft! It is a true wonder to behold. Remember, this Coast flashlight is designed with the Long Range Focusing Optic, NOT Pure Beam Focusing Optic, so you get the ultimate in viewable distance, more concentrated light focus; not spread out light particles, lighting up only around you and short distance in front. This Long Range Focusing Optic design is most effective in applying the LED's power to it's full lighting potential. I highly recommend this light.Be careful NOT to buy a Coast Pure Beam Focus Optic light if you are looking for the ultimate concentrated spot beam flashlight. The Long Range Focusing Optic is what your looking for. I don't know why they make the Pure Beam Focusing Optic for Coast flashlights. It isn't nearly as effective as the Long Range design.

Streamlight who? As a heavy duty diesel mechanic of 8 years (most spent working 3rd shift in very dim environments) flashlights are a wierd thing I seem to purchase to many of. Have always used streamlight products and decided to give Coast lights a try after borrowing a coworker's penlight HP3R (also have since purchased and recommend) this light has impressed me and has stood up to the daily abuse of being used by diesel mechanic. The adjustable beam is great, the battery life is awesome and complimented by the passthrough charging built into the housing. No there is not a piggyback option like streamlight (which is ignored since there a passthrough charge port as previously mentioned)small enough to keep in a drawer or a belt loop holster. I keep mine in my pocket with much less annoyance compared to my Streamlight Stinger (although the smaller strion would be a more fair comparison for pocketable flashlights)

The Coast HP7R is a great quality flashlight. This flashlight is some next level flashlight. The package comes with 2 rechargeable cells, a battery pack that holds 4 AAA batteries, a holster and some mounting gadgets. The rechargeable cells give about 7 plus hours of burn time a 300 lumens and the 4 AAA gives about 2 plus hours at nearly 300 lumens. If you YouTube some of the reviews you will be able to view the unit. I am glad I bought this flashlight. Although, I thought I would be able to charge AAA batteries with the battery pack and you cant. I charge this flashlight with a portable solar panel as a backpackers set-up. So the hope was save ounces for head lamps recharges. I would have given a 5 star, but the not being able to recharge AAA batteries caused some rethinks. As they say though your never out of power with the Coast HP7R. Great quality flashlight with longevity in mind.

Arrived promptly and very well packaged. I liked the fact that the battery pack already had some Duracells installed and I was able to start playing with the torch immediately. It did not take long to fully recharge the NiCad packs either. The torch feels and looks like good quality and the beam is very bright. It feels substantial enough but not heavy enough to be a problem. The dog got me up early this morning so we set off for out walk into the woods while it was still dark. The HP7R proved to be perfect for my requirements. The low setting is ideal for normal dog walking, either in spot or flood. The full power mode is great and lit up sections of the wood quite easily.Great fun and very impressive on a very dark morning.UPDATE: I’ve been using this for a few weeks now and love it. Money very well spent.

This is the second coast flash light I have owned. The hp7 was my first. Hp7r is my newest. I love all the accessories that come with this flash light. Always nice to have backup batteries that are rechargeable and alkaline. The only concerns I have with this light is the the button is very hard to push, I don't like how the strobe setting is in the middle of the light changes between high and low beams. Also I wish the spot beam was s little tighter circle for the distance. The hp7 has a tighter spot distance but not as bright. But overall I love the coast products I have never had any issues with them. As long as there products continue to advance they will always have my business. Can't beat the lifetime warranty. Never used it though.

This flashlight is the real deal. Mine came with the light, two rechargeable lithium batteries, power adapter, USB cable, 4 x AAA battery holder w/Duracell batteries, wall clip and leash. The rechargeable batteries can be charged while installed in the flashlight or on their own. The base cap slides back to reveal the charging port on the flashlight and has an o-ring seal. I haven't tested the light for water intrusion and don't know whether the seal is for splash resistance or full immersion. The focus feature works well and I've lit up objects at 500 feet with no problem. The wide angle isn't super wide, falls off dramatically and exhibits chromatic aberration at the edge but is extremely even across the middle of the beam.

Coast has done a very ...very ...good job ...I have a Lenser equivalent which caused me grief ...to get fixed again after its actual batteries corroded the inner parts of the battery casing ...but this is much better ...why ??? apart from having a rechargeable battery units....the Coast has a better beam than the Lenser equivalent ..if you are a photographer ...got for it and never look back ....if I was picky in comment ..I would have liked the Coast carry case to have a button (belt) option attachment rather than just a loupe ..otherwise the Coast HP7R flashlight itself is mint.... I still can't believe I got two rechargeable battery units plus an inner unit for actual batteries for the price...excellent.

I purchased this flashlight for using with photography at night. I use it to light up my subject of which is usually landscape. I've only used it once but it's an amazing flashlight. You get 2 battery packs and a pack that holds AA batteries just in case. Many way to charge the batteries, with your computer, electrical outlet, or car charger. The most important part, the light is very bright and white which is important to not have a color cast on your photos. Best of all this is a monster as far as strength. It says it has a 1000 ft reach and after trying it I believe it. Really amazing considering it is quite small. I'll attach a photo I took using this flashlight.

This HP7R is one of the best flashlights I have used. I mostly use it for emergencies during poor weather and power outages. I really like the fact that it is rechargeable, especially since it recharges using a micro usb plug so it is pretty easy to charge from just about anywhere, including a external battery pack if your way from outlets. The light output is very bright in flood mode and the throw(distance) on spot mode is more than you could ask for. I really like that the spot beam is very concentrated and there is very little to no light bleed to the sides(light rings). I would highly recommend this flashlight, the service Coast provides is superb as well.
