This fire guard was quick and easy to put (I did it by myself in around 20 minutes). It also has a decent top, meaning that little one can't climb over it! The only issues I came across was connecting the two sides together; because the outer bar is thicker, it was quite tricky to make sure that they slotted together well enough that I could screw them together, but I got there in the end. Also, I found it a little tricky to bolt it to the wall as the fixtures wouldn't quite fit, but I think this was more of an issue with the structure of my fireplace rather than the product itself, as the fireplace is on a wall that is protruding slightly from the rest, meaning I needed it to go back further than it could.

A well made poduct which I purchased with the additional optional extention as we have a wide hearth, some 6 foot, on which sits a woodburning stove. We need the guard only for when our grandson comes to visit and so it needs to be removed and set up again quite frequently.The only complaints I have are that the spring clips which hold the side peices are very stiff and need a tool such as a screwdriver to get them off. and that the guard when assembled with the extention in place will not fold flat so needs to be dismantled from the extention in order to fold both parts flat for storage.Anyone buying just the guard alone will find it folds flat easily.

happy enough with this. tried to screw the thing into the wall without using wallplugs but our young lad soon pulled the guard off the wall. given spare time becomes the rarest commodity on the planet when you have babies / toddlers, we just didn't have time to fix it properly to the wall. but this wasn't a problem as we would always be in the same room with the little one so when he tried to grab hold oft he guard again we'd tell him to leave it alone. it didn't take long for just the presence of the guard to be enough for this to workyou can widen the guard too to fit whatever fire you have so would recommend.

I am really happy with this fireguard . I was not expecting much for 25 pounds however what you get is a proper cage that stops young kids going close to your stove. The stove itself fits to the wall using some clips and I suppose what you could do is buy longer chains if the guard needed to be bigger! I don't think it would properly take the weight of a child if one was to climb on top however you should always be aware of kids around burning hot things anyway. I have added a few pics of my set up.I have extended mine about as far as it can go and their is no sag in the middle !

Had one of these years ago for our daughters and now we are grand parents had to invest in a new model to keep her away from the fire. Looks good in black (our previous one was in a bronze like colour) and is sturdy once fixed to the wall. As previous reviews have stated, it does seem a little loose, however I resolved this by attaching the hooks to one of the thinner vertical wires rather than the thicker end of each side. Still seems strong enough to resist the expected forces if pulled etc. Perfectly good at what it does.

Product is absolutely fine and works as expected. If I had a fireplace which had a roaring fire or wood burner I would want it to be a bit sturdier. As we have an electric for we don't need to worry about our little one burning their hands on the metal which I would expect to get quite warm. This product does need to be secured to the wall as without this your cild will pull the fireguard on top of themselves which we learnt very quickly. Nobody was hurt but we made sure it was secured as quickly as possible.

It is useful to be able to resize this guard to correctly fit your fireplace.The fittings to secure the panels together are supplied stretched too far open, making them difficult to attach.Having had it assembled and installed for a few weeks, I have found that the "hinge" parts that connect the side and front panels are flimsy and stretch apart with very little effort - such as a 10 month old trying to climb it.The powder coating is not well applied, and chips and flakes off very easily.

I only needed one section so I unclipped the end of the left hand part and clipped it to the right. I am sure this invalidates warranties etc. But it gives a really nice fireguard of exactly the right size. Only criticism is that the clips attaching it to the wall are fiddly to clip on and off and do not hold the guard firmly in place. There must be a better solution. Why not some sort of hook welded on to the guard which can just slide into an eye on the wall?

This does a good job of keeping little ones away from the fire. It's simple to construct and easy to adjust to fit the fireplace. It is also delivered promptly and offers good value for money compared to safety items in high street shops. The only reason this does not have five stars is that the bolts which hold it together are slightly flimsy and bend easily- with slightly better fixings this would have been a five star review.

It works great!. My sister had one previously but gave it to a neighbor with a new baby. Meanwhile we are using it to prevent our 5 cats from getting into the Inglenook fireplace to the multi fuel burning stove as they love to sit besides the fire. From past experience with the exact same product when we had small children this fireguard is strong and well made, plus its adjustable, and does a great job as intended. Thank you.

used the way around it is meant to be used its a good guard for when the fire is on the top section lifts up to give easy access to the fire,but where i am happy with it is when the fire is not on if you flip the sides around to face outwards you can cover the entire fire opening up with it which will stop my kittens getting ideas when i am not there and me not finding soot everywhere or one of them up the chimney.

We bought this product after scanning the marketplace for cheapest brand product we could find. Delivery was prompt and within lead time. Product came well packaged and in pristine condition which was so reassuring. Construction was done in 5 mins and placed in situ as per photo and the black finish actually enhances its appearance and doesn't impact on the rooms decor. Thanks for the great product.

Bought this as a safeguard for dog and when grandchildren come. It fits just round our hearth with a little to spare, but is very easily adjusted for smaller hearths. It is pretty stable and solid but doesn't block the heat as much as I feared it would (not at all in fact). The original idea was to take it down when not in use, but it now just stays where it is as it's not intrusive.

I am very pleased with this fireguard. This fireguard is great value, and while it looks quite bulky in the photo, it isn't obtrusive at all in our cozy sitting room. The fireguard was also easy to install. Most importantly, it has held up very well against my very determined 21-month-old! Overall, I highly recommend this fireguard for the value and for keeping little ones safe.

Bought this firegaurd for when my grandchildren come visiting which is often . They come from Spain and of course they are not used to open fires so it is a worry when they are playing near ours. The only reason I did not give it 5 stars was beacause the instructions are picture only and with all the wing nuts and bolts and other items it is bit difficult to see what goes where.
