As some other reviewers have mentioned, this Clarks M2 brake set is a total bargain and a perfect replacement for the notoriously unreliable Giant MPH hydraulic braking system.I'm sure this set is also perfect to replace or upgrade other systems, but I purchased it to replace the 10 year old MPH system on my Giant Terrago because both master cylinder adjusters had seized and one of the cylinders was leaking brake fluid due to a broken sealing washer that I was unable to replace. The set was very easy to install and fitted my bike perfectly using the pre-installed IS mounts. Another big plus is that both brakes /reservoirs already contain brake fluid and so the whole system is effectively ready to use out of the box without the need to bleed either of the brakes. The 160mm rotors look really cool and were an exact size / screw pattern match for the original Giant MPH rotors that were fitted to my bike. The only small issue I had was getting some of the original T25 Torx screws undone to swap the rotors over because these were very tight and the Torx adapter I was using wasn't the best quality! Nothing to do with the Clarks M2 set but maybe something worth bearing in mind if you plan to change the rotors over. The black 2 finger brake levers look great, work very well and have a nice balanced feel. There is plenty of lever adjustment if required but I'm happy with the default setup as it provides good stopping power and a solid bite on each brake when you pull the levers. The fluid reservoirs are integrated and very low profile which makes them pretty much invisible which I really like.I agree with other reviews that the cable lengths are a little bit long, but this is not a deal breaker in my opinion as you're getting a complete hydraulic set that's ready to use out of the box - so you can't be too picky! The front brake cable length was fine for me but the rear was about 15cm too long, so I pulled the excess cable to the front of the bike and then looped the cable neatly so that it looked just like the other brake and gear cables. I then loosely cable-tied the loop to the bike frame to secure it. This took 2 minutes and is hardly noticeable, plus it saved me having to bleed the rear brake / shorten the cable.I went for a 7 mile bike ride immediately after fitting the new brakes to test them out and they performed flawlessly! No modifications or adjustments were needed, they just worked really well.Overall, I'm very impressed with this set. It fits well, looks better than the original and offers impressive braking performance straight out of the box. Considering the low price as well (<£40), this set is a total bargain and well worth the investment. Highly recommended.

To be blunt, I was sceptical about what sort of product I was going to receive for the price, but, on opening the box the first thing that was evident is the build quality of the lagers and callipers.Installation on my Carerra Hellcat was almost childsplay as I didn’t need to swap over the discs as my bike already had 160mm discs fitted and they fitted straight onto the existing mountain brackets (front and back). The levers were of course just as easy.Supplied fully bled and ready to go I was able to install and test immediately and while the cable brakes I had were very reasonable, I will need to be careful getting used to them as these hydraulic brakes are very powerful.Ok,so here is the only downside.Rear hydraulic pipe way too long. Not by just a few centimetres, but I would say I will need to remove at least 150mm to make it the correct length for my 20” frame with 29” wheels. Smaller bikes will need more removed. The problem is that while in theory it looks fairly easy to do, I can see problems occurring trying to do this if care isn’t taken and you don’t have the correct tools, such as the Olive Pipe Compression tool that fits the supplied olives into the tube after it has been cut. For now, I have coiled the surplus pipe at the front end of the bike in front of the stem.My summary is simple:An excellent product at an excellent price which would be even better with more consideration given to the rear pipe length and perhaps an option to buy the set without discs. You won’t be disappointed buying and fitting these.

I needed to replace my long suffering Giant MPH brakes that had eventually seized after 11 years! I had heard that these brakes are great value and as it was an entire front and rear kit, I thought I would give them a try. The other reviews are not wrong! They arrived next day (thank you Amazon Prime) and I am impressed and very happy. They come pre-set up with the IS optional mounts already loosely attached to the post mount on the caliper’s. As well as all new rotor and caliper bolts with dabs of blue threadlock ready to go. Also 2 spare olives if / when you want to shorten the hoses. My bike frame uses IS mount so they went straight on with the ease…swapped the rotors, hand tightened the calipers, pulled and held the lever to centralise the calipers on the rotors, tightened calipers down...DONE!After a few hard stops it was clear they had a great level of power, some more expensive ones maybe more powerful but to be honest they work perfectly for me and held up really well during a recent trip to Bedgebury trials. I never had a concern about “not” being able to stop. The overall bar mounts/reservoirs are quite compact and the lever's themselves have good shape and feel strong under hard pulls. The levers have reach adjustment, but the “default” set up was fine for me. I have not found the bite point adjuster yet but not a problem right now.If you are in the market for a replacement/upgrade that isn’t silly money, for £40 for an entire new front and rear set, I whole heartedly recommend them.

Excellent!Replaced some very poor Clarks CMD - 17 Mechanical Disc Brakes which were weak and 'attention drawing' noisy. I have not fitted something like this before but this set is ready to go and pretty obvious so didn't take long.Pity the brake mounts aren't double split, but neither were my original brake levers so I would have had to take the grips and gear changes off anyway to remove the old ones. Rear hose a little long but I was able to route to hide it and tidy with cable ties. At first I was worried that the levers came back to the bar but researching on youtube (instructions a bit light!) I found it was because I had not adjusted the little allen screw that takes up the lever slack, once done they are nice and firm and nowhere near reaching the bar hard on.I also changed over to the supplied rotors. I know some people don't bother but the supplied ones were slightly thicker and the friction area slightly wider than my originals so I thought it would maximise performance.Even before bedding in the difference on the first ride was amazing! Where as my old brakes pulled me up - eventually.. these could lock up both wheels even at my full speed!! I will have to learn to be a lot more gentle now if I don't want to end up on my face! - better still no noise at all apart from the tyres scrabbling for grip on a hard stop.Transformed my bike for far less cost than I imagined it would. Bought from DiscPadsDirect seller, delivered quickly, great price. Happy days!

I bought these for my son who had the earlier EXO version from the same manufacturer. These M2 are very easy to fit. It took me, about 15 minutes to uninstall and replace existing brakes and about a further 10 minutes to adjust bite points and center the pads etc. I didn't bother using the new rotors but I'm sure they are just as easy to fit. Excellent quality for such a low price. Very good value for money. Adjustment is simple (if you're willing to search for video on YouTube for help). I'm tempted to install these on all the family's mountain bikes. The only downside was the hydraulic lines were a bit long. However, if this kind of thing bothers you I would suggest a trim and re-bleed.Personally I wasn't bothered as the lines don't get in the way as the excess sits ahead of the handlebars anyway. You could hardly blame the manufacturer for making the lines long enough to suit any bike size. You'd soon complain if they were too short! All in all, I would recommend these to most leisure riders looking to replace their mechanical disc brakes for hydraulic or as a cheap replacement. Perhaps not suited to downhill racers but your average user should be pretty happy with them.

Great so far, excellent stopping power compared to the original mechanical disc brakes that came with my bike (they slowed rather than stopped the bike...). With these M2 brakes I can lock up the rear no problem and the front has enough power that I back off before I've used all the stopping power.I re-used the original rotors rather than change them for the ones in the kit (the original on the back is a 180, 160 on the front. The ones in the kit are both 160). To fit the front brake caliper I used the mount that was already on the bike and the pads were fully covering the rotor (with the included mount they only covered half the rotor). For the rear brake i used the mount that came with the kit which was intended for the front caliper as it enables the best alignment, allowing the pads to fully cover the rotor. The length of the hose for the rear brake is 1700mm which is perfect for a long tail cargo bike like the Yuba Mundo. It would probably work well for an Xtracycle, Surly Big Dummy and Kona Ute as well, but you'd have to check for yourself.Easy to fit as they have the hoses attached and are already bled.

Bought these as opposed to spending similar money on servicing existing hydraulics that were getting a little old.Installation was easy (really easy!), and whilst the rear hose was a little long, I chose to loop the excess near my handlebars and tape it off to avoid having to cut and bleed the system straight away. I have these on my commuter and I was really impressed that there hasn't been any really noticeable bedding in time, they worked really well on first run without any squeaks or issues at all. In fact, they are considerably more powerful with better modulation than the Shimano set I had on before. I chose to use my existing rotors and keep the supplied ones as spares, purely to cut down installation time a little. I've worked on these types of brake before, but had I not, the instructions accurately cover what you would need to do. I don't the type of riding that would really put any kind of pressure on these brakes but if you want confident and controlled stopping on an everyday bike I can't imagine why you would consider anything else.

I found that these were very easy to fit and I've got very little previous experience with fitting brakes to bikes. I bought these to replace the cable operated disc brakes that came with my bike and prefer them in every way.- The levers are adjustable and have a great, ergonomic curve to them- The little red piston housing on the caliper looks great- Plenty of hose supplied. I found that the fronts were perfect for my bike, but as other have said, the rear hose will need shortening soon.- Their stopping power is phenomenal! To elaborate on this, the only brakes I can compare these to is the set that they were bought to replace. However with the great 'bite' and customisation in where the levers sit,I'm so much more confident riding with these on knowing that when I need them, they're there.I've taken these to Chicksands bike park a few times now and they've held up absolutely great for everything I've put them through.

I must add to the long list of positive reviews. I'm a larger rider and am in need of quite a bit of stopping power. I've gone through various upgrades on my MTB/Hybrid culminating in using Avid BB7 mechanical callipers. These were 'ok' but with only one piston eventually warped the disk and they also needed adjusting after almost every ride.I'd previously ruled out hydraulic brakes based on price i.e. Good ones = expensive, bad one = cheap. Then my local bike shop recommended these and for the price I thought I've give them a punt.I wish I'd bought them before. They're amazingly well priced, very east to fit and the stopping power is fantastic. As others have said the rear hose is long but I chose not to cut it at this stage (I didn't buy a bleed kit)and just routed it creatively. If you're having any kind of mechanical disk issues or just want to upgrade don't hesitate to buy a set of these.

I received these brakes new from an EBay seller. They are great value starter brake for XC, trail and city use. Better stopping power than any mechanical disc I have tried except the Avid BB7s (but they are sort of legendary). I would not recommend these for any sort of downhill or AM use.My only complaint is that they were not properly bled by the factory. The levers depressed with a spongy feel however once the air was removed, they are very firm and allow for 1 finger braking in most situationsOnce you bleed these brakes, they are comparable to my Quad QHD-1 Stings and Giant MPH hydraulic disk brakes. They do not have the same power, modulation or feel as my Shimano SLXs but at less than half the price, they do a commendable job.If you are looking for a bit more stopping power you'll probably have to spend a fair amount more money, or buy second hand.

Bought these to upgrade my son's Specialized Hard Rock bike. Had to shorten the rear hose which actually wasn't too hard, although there is no mention of how to do this in the kit. Good news is that the olives were included. Having done so, the brake was quite spongy so I had to bleed it which required the purchase of a bleed kit Clarks Universal Hydraulic Bleed Kit which I also purchased from Amazon andI hope will be a good investment. The bleed instructions were included and I found this quite easy. Once I'd bled the rear brake I realised that the front was nowhere near as good so bled this also. The brakes are now spot on and far superior to the cable brakes they replaced.I've only had them on the bike for a few weeks so can't comment on reliability, but seem good so far.

Bought to replace a set of aging Hayes hydraulic brakes that have served well. Fitting was easy, only needed one bracket for the back.(2supplied). Used original disks kept the supplied disks as spares. Found the supplied hoses a bit long, fittings are supplied in the kit just in case they were overly long and need shortening, decided to live with it and save hassle of bleeding the brakes. Tightened the bolts (6mm Allen key) to 10Nm using a Torque wrench, 5Nm for the disks. No need for a Torque wrench if you don't have one, just happened I did.In short, easy to fit, cheap, great quality and a huge upgrade in braking performance over the previous braking setup. Very pleased with my purchase. Oh,they look good too.

Great set of hydraulic disk brakes, you won't find better for the price!I've owned original Shimano XT disks, Hope M2s, Hope Carbon Pros & Hope Tech X2s and these are functionally just as good. Yes they're a little bit heavier and don't have bite point adjustment but at only 20% of the cost they're a bargain. You get 2 extra push fit ferrules so you can cut the hoses to size and I was able to do so without having to bleed them, just burped them and it was fine. Each caliper has its own post mount adapter so you can use them on post mounts or I.S. Fittings. Get yourself the Clarks Universal Bleeding Kit and some mineral oil for when you do need to bleed them and you're sorted.

These were for my sons jump bike. With guidance very easy to install and fit with no messing around with complicated filling like some other hydraulic lines. The breaks themselves look amazing and the break response is responsive with little effort on the hands. He was quite happy with this. And an added feature and a little bit of bike building experience to add onto his bike which he originally only had front breaks and so having both front and rear, have avoided less falling off when jumping of big quarry dips and curves. They definately look at home on his bike.

First off - this is based on fact I just fitted breaks yesterday and have not used them proper yet but just tested them.Very impressed, straightforward to fit ( there is a how to video on the manufacturer's website). They seem very good and great value. After reading reviews I was ready to shorten the rear hose due to mentions of being far too long. Btw there is a how to video re this too. After fitting however I found that whilst it was slightly too long it was not so bad and to avoid cutting it I just taped it to the handlebar and it's fine.
