Bought one of these to make Hungarian egg noodles (aka nokedli). The only niggly bit I found is that the holes could be somewhat wider and shaped like a grater's.The recipes at the back of the packaging are all in German - as the other reviewer has already mentioned - but there isn't really much to it when you fancy making spaetzle or nokedli. You need flour, eggs, water and salt.Make sure you use the right sized pot (appr. 26-28cm dia), fill it half-way with water, add a fair amount of salt, some oil and keep it just slightly above boiling point. Mix ~400 grammes of flour with 1-4 eggs (the more you put in, it the harder the noodles become after cooking) and just enough water to make the dough sticky,rough but not soft. Do not mix it for too long or make the dough smooth. Then grab a small handful with a spoon, place it on the pasta maker and start pressing it through the holes with long back and forth motions. Give the noodles floating around in the boiling water a stir before grabbing the next batch of dough, otherwise they'll stick together. Leave it for a short time to cook (fish out and cut open a noodle if unsure) then drain and serve.

EXCELLENT!!I highly recommend this.For beginners to Spätzle making, the texture of your mix is crucial to get the right thickness, length and consistency for Spätzle.Too runny and the mixture will escape through the holes too quickly and you end up with it disintegrated in the water beneath.Too thick and you end up with having to press the mixture frantically through the holes as it already starts to cook on the hot device ? resulting in small ‘Knöpfle’ dumplings instead of Spätzle.Wear an oven glove on one hand when handling it, as it gets hot during the process ?

This spaetlze cutter plate works really well, much better than a sliding box type one that I have tried. You set the plate on top of your pot of boiling water, put the dough on top, and push it through the hoes with the spatula, very easy. The spatula however is a bit of a letdown - it is flimsy plastic that you must grip firmly, and since it is so short, I can not help getting dough all over my fingers (which makes it more difficult to hold onto).

Simple to use and all that is needed to make spatzles (German pasta). Spatzles are expensive to buy in the UK so this is well worth the investment if you enjoy these. I would have given it five stars if it were not for the fact that the instructions and recipes which were advertised in the details to reassure the buyer are all in German, and only in German. I think that might have been mentioned in the description.

You'll need asbestos hands until you refine a technique, but plain and simple to use. Works perfectly. Spätzle like I remember from my first trip to Germany in 1988 ! Perfect for the budding cook who who loves things all Germanic.

Works well, but I'm not sure why they include a small bit of card/plastic as a scraper as it clearly can't be used as one. So, just be aware you'll need to buy one seperately.Other than that it's pretty good.

This is so easy to use . Only thing is it came with another purchase but I paid separate for the two. Wish amazon could see this and let me know they could come in same package

Used it for years, simple yet clever makes the perfect size hungarian dumpling (nokedli), still have the original spatula that I use for baking bread too. Love it still.

It's perfect for making spaetzle, but when paired with a spring-form pan and a pot of boiling water, suddenly you also have a stackable steamer basket!

Exactly what I wanted. Very happy with it. The only downside to it is that it requires a very large pot to work with as it has a big diameter.

Just brilliant. The spatzle recipe on the back (even though in German) is perfect and this sieve does a great job of delivering perfect pasta.

Just what we wanted.We can now make german spatzle as it should be made. Comes with a recipe, However this is in GermanNo problem to us.
