A big investment as a proper refrigerated air con - hopefully a long lasting appliance, time will tell. You do have to be imaginative with the hose (a little short at 1.5m and not made of dryer hose material) to cool a room well - we just point the hose out the front room and directed a little up the stairs. The fan itself also works very well. It is quite loud, but that is to be expected for an air con. I wish the remote wasn't always on and displaying numbers, as it feels like a battery drain.

I've tried fans.. they just blow hot air around the room .. I've tried an up right air cooler,This is better than a fan as it physically blows cold air out at you, This can be filled with cold water to make it colder ... and if you add a bag of ice cubes its even better - but this will cool the person/people its facing. .not the room itself. Then there the air conditioning machine - this sucks the muggyness out the room and replaces it with lovely cool and refreshing air cooling the room

At 5k btu it's low-powered and not suited to a large room where there are heat sources (either equipment or shining in sun). However, it is quiet and, in a small room, has reduced temperatures by around 5-7°C and produces a marvellously cooling breeze. if you sit about 3ft in front of it!Have only run it in cooling mode, and it appears very effective in removing humidity - in the recent heatwave it pulled out ~3 litres of water in an afternoon - so have a suitable container handy to catch it!

After reading reviews on ac units from various companies we wasn’t expecting much from this one as it is a low price compared to some on the market but I can say it was well worth the money. It only takes a short time to start cooling the room (our loft conversion is like a sauna!) and I love the fact it comes with a remote to adjust the settings. It does produce some noise but we are used to this with a large fan.Why we didn’t purchase this sooner I don’t know! Highly recommend this product.

It certainly helps keep the room temperature down and even though its advertised as noise of 63 dsb, the sound it emits it isn't an unpleasant sound and is simular to that of a blug-in fan. Its only flaws: 1. It is awkward to drain if it uses the dehumidifier as the tap and pipe attachment is right on floor level. 2. The attachments for the window is limited to a sliding window and it lacks the ability to use a hinged window. I had to make my own window attachment along with an extra hose.

This is a small, neat unit. It has two fan speeds and the slow speed is quiet enough to hear TV or people talking. Like all aircon units the hose is too short to reach most windows, an extension hose solves that. Be warned - having bought it I discovered it is designed for use with sash windows - this isn’t made clear on the Argos website. I am using it with a conventional window - a work around gives a degree of seal around the hose which works. Overall good value for money & does the job.

The aicon unit works great when the external temperature is anything below 27 degrees celcius. I feel that it began to struggle when the temperatures reached 30+ degrees celcius, however, it reduced the temperature of the room to a more bearable temperature to work in the office. It is not overly noisy, the humming noise becomes more of a background noise once you get used to it and the unit has been on for 5 minutes. One thing this unit lacks is an oscillating feature to spread the cold air.

Got this as I struggle with extreme heat and my, (well used!), tower fan just wasn’t cutting it. I turn the unit on in the bedroom an hour before I go to bed and it chills the room wonderfully. No more sticky sheets to get into! I set the timer for half an hour so that I can drop off in comfort, knowing it will switch itself off soon after. It is fairly noisy, but I prefer noise to fall asleep to, so it doesn’t bother me. The exhaust is quite short though, so I am looking for an extension.

When the temperature rises & humidity goes through the roof, what price for a decent nights sleep. This unit has been a life saver in the heatwave. Put it on for a couple of hours before bed, keep the doors & windows closed & hey presto a cool haven for a great nights sleep. It isn't as quiet as the gentle breeze from a fan because this unit means business. It removes the heat, replacing it with a cool, fresh feeling. If you want to sleep with it on, get some ear plugs - simple :-).

Using it in my bedroom at night as it gets so hot during the day - the window mount is great. I’ve put the hose out of the bottom of the window and holds great. Cools the air quickly, and included remote is great if you’re comfortable and don’t want to move. Only downside is the noise - it’s quite noisy even on a low setting. Easy to get used to but not tried sleeping with it on. Would suggest leaving it on in a room for a while with the door closed to cool the room before sleeping

Pumps out cold ( 17C) air on a hot day. 2speed fan is quite powerful but noisy, not something I could have on thru night . Worked well in my small bedroom when left on all day;by night room was ice cold with night time temp outside of 25C! But when put on later in eve after hot day 30C plus it struggled to cool it down;instructions say room needs to be below 30C before using! Extractor kit & remote supplied ( had to make own window adapter!). Its OK for the price but needs to be colder.

Discharge air (off coil) was recorded around 17°C, which was enough to cool our room upstairs from 36° to 23°C within an hour. Not portable as a complete set-up, so we used it in the warmest room and kept all internal doors open (not as effective though). Our windows were mostly too wide for window plates, so duct tape was used to seal the gaps. Highly recommended though, was worth the price for the 8 days we used it this year. Not too noisy, or ugly, hose could be longer, but not vital.

I live in a shared house and I'm at the top with no air flow and the 3 desk fans I have just blow hot air on me. I would dread the summer. This unit has saved me from sweaty days/nights. The supplied exhaust pipe is quite short so I bought some extra from eBay (125mm). Cools my room down lovely in 15-20 minutes. Comes with a backlit remote. Has two fan speeds. On/off timers. It's quite noisy, but that's a small price to pay compared to my oven of a room. Should have bought one years ago.

Picked this up with the hope it would cool my living room down as my fan wasn’t doing its job. Well what can I say....it certainly did it job! Setting it up was easy. Just slide the hose onto the back of the unit and hang it out the window. I set it to the lowest temperate 17 degrees and within 30 mins or so my room was like a fridge. I had to turn it off as I was shivering even though it was so warm outside. Noise is quiet too. Was still able to hear the TV. Would definitely recommend!

expensive yes. but I would rather pay it than have sleepless nights. vents out of window or wall,. comes with attachments for this. decent remote. digital display. easy to use. Now the noise. many people whinge about this . its impossible to have this type of product without some noise. I sleep fine with it on. and its 3ft from head, when in bed. very heavy, but easy to move once on floor. minimal maintenance. good for single room use. not sure it if will cool down a whole house?
