Reviews of this product are very mixed. It seems to work for some dogs but not for others. If you are trying it for the first time, I would suggest that you try the smaller travel pack. This is cheaper so you won't waste as much money if it doesn't work. I have found it helpful and this is my second purchase. My dog is a rescue dog which I got about 18 months ago. Right from the start she hated being in the car. Although we used a harness to attach her to the seat belt on the rear seat, she used to jump down onto the floor and would wedge herself between the front and back seats and would look utterly miserable. We assumed that she was simply unused to being in a car and that she would get used to it.She didn't! My husband drove her a short distance every day to nearby woods where she was able to run about freely. She loved being in the woods but never got used to the car. My husband often had to lift her into the car as she would refuse to get in. A combination of factors helped her. Firstly we changed cars. The new car had a much larger boot and we put one of her dog beds in for her to lie in. We installed a dog guard and she was able to lie in her bed without a harness (which she hated). We sprayed Adaptil on her dog bed or even better sprayed it on her Thundershirt (an anti-anxiety shirt). This helped her tremendously and we were able to take her away for a short holiday recently. We were even able to leave her alone in the car for short periods of time. A great success! This is definitely worth a try if your dog if you dog is nervous in the car. I have yet to try it in other circumstances eg. thunderstorms and fireworks but intend to do so to see if it works then.

My 3yr old Beagle Miss Molly gets extremely distressed when there are fireworks going off or there's a thunder storm. I read the reviews about this product, mixed views from many. I also spoke with the vet, they recommended trying the spray. Twice now I have used the spray as fireworks are going off a lot. WOW! What a difference, she is laying next to me calmly, sleeping..... Now snoring. Normally she would be panting heavily, her heart beating really fast, would not lie down, really spooked and nervous. For me this is great, so nice not to see my dog in distress. It's well worth the cost, I'd pay anything to stop my dog being distressed. If you're reading this, and you're like I was unsure after reading many reviews, what have you got to lose? Cash? That's all, you can replace money. It is at least worth trying..... I nearly didn't after reading the mixed reviews, so pleased I did now. My next task is to start my petition again calling for a restriction on the amount of fireworks in the hands of the public, and for how long they go on for. I wouldn't mind if it was just one weekend, but it goes on for months! So many distressed pets and wild animals. Something needs to change.

After reading other reviews I decided to buy this product for our Yorkshire Terrier (called Bob)who always barks his head off every Bonfire Night and New Year without fail!! I saw it works great on some, but others hadn't had any joy with it, but I thought it was certainly worth a try.We received it and I immediately sprayed the stated amount on his bed, the den we had set up for him and the rug in front of our fire that he loves and he was as calm as anything ALL weekend!! He was perfect, so relaxed, chilled out and a happy little chappie - we were relieved as I always feel so sorry for him when he gets worked up with the fireworks going off, but not this year, he didn't care about all the noise, just spread out in front of the fire or on the sofa and was perfectly at peace!!I cannot wait for the collar and diffuser to arrive; he gets agitated on walks when he bumps into other dogs so we hope the collar will help him on walks as the spray certainly did at home!!Fantastic product, highly recommended & I hope it works as well for your own dog & it did for our Bob! :)

My chocolate Labrador is terrified of bangs. Especially firework season - which seems to get longer every year! She used to shake and pant and appear very distressed.I tried the adaptil plug in defuser first - it didn't make any noticeable difference.I thought I'd try the spray before I gave up completely! My dog hid from fireworks in the space between the sofa and the wall. We made it into a "safe space" for her (recommended by our vet & rspca) for when the fireworks go off. With the addition of a few doggy blankets, the space is sheltered and warm for her.She will always hide in there when she hears bangs. But now we spray one of her blankets with this adaptil spray and it seems to calm her down - and she actually goes to sleep!I never thought I'd see the day when fireworks are going off and my dogs snoring away oblivious. It's not a miracle cure - I'm sure my dog will always be scared of fireworks. But it does appear to reduce her stress symptoms and enables her to have a good nights sleep!

We have a little long hair jack Russell who has had lots of problems from being a puppy, he don't like loud noise and goes mad when the door bell goes, and trys to hide under tables, we tryed the collar but that did not work at all, we then tryed the plug in with some little results but in the summer it's not very good as windows and doors are open so the smell doesn't feel the room, so we have now tryed the spray, and it probably works the best, we spray two sprays on his soft bed 30 minutes before he goes to sleep and it does make Him more relaxed and he does sleep better, he has two sprays on his day time bed in the morning and that also calm him down, are dog can smell it as he smells hisbed when it has been sprayed I am not saying that this will stop all behaviour problems but if it helps even a little bit it's well worth it, I also think that it will not work for all dogs as all dogs are different, but I would try this spray instead of the rest, Read full review...

I bought this having read the reviews and knowing it doesn't help every dog. It did however, help my puppy not to cry in the car. I tried all the de-sensitising activities such as feeding treats in the car, turning the engine on then straight off again and just going up and down the drive, but he would still start crying and not stop, the minute we left the drive.I used the spray on the towel he sits on in the boot of the car and although he still whines a bit on short journeys, he actually settles down and has fallen asleep once! I do not drive for more than 15 minutes but this spray has made the journeys so much easier as it is horrible listening to a crying puppy!I tried without the spray the other day and it might be coincidence, but the whining was much worse on this journey so I will continue to use it until he is older and very used to the car. He is now 12 weeks old.So I would recommend this product

Un believable product.Pheromones are all important in nature most animals are ruled by them, from moths to Tigers but the amazing thing is that this product has been produced with a "happy relaxed dog pheromone that just works.Never get a new puppy without using this products on his bed, blanket and on your clothing when you collect him as well as on the car seat.Doesn't stain but smells strongly of alcohol for 30-40 seconds then nothing. wait for a few minutes before introducing to the dog.The dog is on instant Prozac for many hours after application its fabulous. The first, super important 48 hours with a new puppy are transformed by this product giving you the best possible start to therelationship.Once dog settles in your home you don't need this any moreWill now only use it again when new stresses appear, airline travel, fireworks etc...

I know this said it doesnt work on all dogs but it absolutely works on our collie cross Lexie. She's nervous in the car and drools ALOT also shakes during thunder and fireworks. This spray works within minutes to calm her down.Int the car she is much less restless and has no drooling. During fireworks she used to race around the room digging at the floor trying to bury roles under things to get to a safe place, ways ending up under our table shaking like crazy and very scared. One spray of this on a bandana or in her bed and she will just settle in her bed and having cuddles her with and without the spray her heart rate is much more regular and no shaking at all.We now take it with us just incase of fireworks as the difference it makes are so clear for our Lexie.Brkiang product and has made all the difference this year with so many fireworks!!

Our adorable Whippet x Bedlington puppy was very hyper when she reached 6 - 9 mths old! She had been such an easy going puppy up until that time and we couldn’t understand the change in her. The Vet wasn’t sure either. Anyway she started chewing everything in sight, again something she’d not done before. We wondered if it was perhaps hormonal as she had been spayed at about the same time. Vet said it was possible, but thought that the day & night away from home might have made her anxious. Anyway we tried the Adaptil tablets, the room/car spray & the plug in vapourisor. They worked a treat! By the time she was a year old (3mths. later) she was back to being happy, relaxed & confident. We don’t use any of those products now as we don’t have to, but I do keep a bottle of the ‘room/car spray .... just in case........

Five stars for this product, as it works really well for both our dogs (I appreciate it may not work for EVERY dog, but I can only review on my own experiences) and really reduces the anxiety associated with external noises like fireworks, or before travelling long distances in the car.The key is to spray surfaces (bedding/furniture) at least 10-15 minutes before the dog comes into contact with them, then allow the alcohol carrier to evaporate. It works for a good couple of hours, and works well as part of a multi-faceted approach to calming your pet (e.g. making a den, thunder-shirts etc).Recently tried the Adaptil tablets too, to calm our older dog before vet visits to dress a cut leg,and they work very well too.Would recommend that you at least give this a try

I have just bought my second bottle. Our sprocker (ESS/cocker mix) gets seriously stressed with fireworks and thunder. Barks like mad and shakes his head frantically. Vet said it was the frequency issued with fireworks and thunder that was causing the problem. I even had to go to the length of taking him for a long drive when it was our Christmas fireworks display in the village.I first bought the spray to help him relax on the long ferry journies that we do to/from France and it is very good for that. However, I now use it during the firework season and spray on to his blanket. He perhaps looks up at the odd loud bang, but basically he was chilled throughout the fireworks last night and there were plenty of them!It has to be worth a try and I am glad we did.

We chose this because we had a long journey from Yorkshire down to Glos: with a 10 week old puppy. I sprayed the Adaptil in the crate 15 minutes before we left, also around the blanket, and she was absolutely fine, sleeping most times, and quite settled, to our surprise. At bedtime I did the same, 15 minutes before she went in for the night, and I plugged in the diffuser as well. She slept until 6-00a.m the following morning and whenever we have expected some anxiety for her we have used the spray again. It is great and I would recommend it to anyone who may be intent on getting a dog with anxiety problems. There is an Adaptil collar but I haven't tried one of those, but I might if she has to go in kennels at some stage.

I have to say I was sceptical about Adaptil, but thought it was worth a try. The difference it has made in one of my dogs is amazing! He used to be a very cheerful, happy go lucky dog but he became anxious and nervous after two bouts of ill health requiring vet treatment (he hates the vet) and two general anaesthetics which seem to have a bad effect on him. The change in his behaviour had been ongoing over the course of a year. I've been using this product for about a month now and he is pretty much back to his old self - he is playing with his toys again, which he had almost lost interest in, and he has stopped displaying the anxious behavior.I spray it on the bed morning and evening.I usethe diffuser as well.

I recently bought this spray in desperation, as my dog wasn't adapting to our new house and was constantly barking and acting nervous and territorial. He tried to bite a couple of visitors who dared to sit on the sofa. I called a dog behaviourist, and also bought this spray as a neighbour recommended it. I spray it on my dog's bed to try to attract him to go there and be calm, and also around the front door before visitors arrive. It seems to work well on his bed; when I spray it he does go there straight away and lie down. I am not sure if it makes him calmer with visitors yet. He hasn't tried to bite anyone again, but is still anxious when people are here. I'll keep going with it,as I think it does work.

I bought this as we had to say goodbye to our old dog a few days after Christmas, we knew it was something we had to do but it was still hard. Our female dog is 3 years younger than our old boy was and still acts like a puppy they were both rescue dogs .The female is very sensitive and misses her friend even though we try to keep her occupied, so we thought we could use this spray to calm her pacing down . It seems to help a bit and I have noticed that she she has stopped cleaning about and biting her paws to the point where they get very red and we have to tell her of.I will have to use it more in the next few weeks as my husband will be going back to sea and she will miss him badly.
