We have 5 indoor cats, two of whom have very long hair. Two of the other three have fine, short hair, and the third has medium length hair. Over the years I have used various combs and brushes trying to find ones that work best (and are tolerated best by the cats) with varying success. No one brush seems to work best for all. So this Catit grooming kit was of great interest to me. It is billed as a complete grooming kit for long haired cats, although it actually seems to work pretty well for both short and medium haired cats. There is a Catit model sold specifically for short haired cats, though, and may work better for those breeds. The product is more complete than I envisioned.I had not read the entire product description when I ordered it for review, so I was pleasantly surprised to see how well-equipped this kit really is. It arrives nicely packaged in a decorative box. All of the grooming tools are very neatly held in place by some soft foam in the base of the kit housing. The top is quite large and can serve as a little wastebasket to put cat hair in as it is collected. Each of the tools in the kit is designed for specific purposes. There is a nice wide bristle brush and wide tooth comb for long hairs. There is also a rake-like tool for removing snags. A smaller wire brush is actually perfect for grooming short and medium haired cats. Lastly, there is a nail scissors included for those brave enough to trim their kitty's nails (I have never attempted this with cats and probably won't as ours don't like their feet messed with).Overall, all of our cats seemed to enjoy being groomed with this kit. The short and medium haired cats really liked the smaller wire brush, and it seemed to get a lot of hair off of them that I have not been able to get off of them with other brushes. The wide toothed combed worked well for the long haired cats, and even one who usually doesn't like to be brushed seemed to enjoy it. So I would say, overall, our cats are very happy with this set.The design of this set is quite nice. It has a modernistic look and feel, and the handles on the tools are thick and comfortable to hold in the hand. My only criticism would be the cost of this set, which at almost $63 on Amazon seems pretty pricey. If you want to buy only one set for grooming cats with various lengths of hair, though, it may be worth its added cost. It is a very fine grooming set for cats, and I will certainly use it regularly.

This is an awesome set of cat grooming tools, especially for long-haired, or thick-furred cats! After getting the kit Catit Long Hair Grooming Kit I went back and got the one for short-haired cats. Honestly, I did not expect any radical differences between the two kits, but there is. The only duplicated tools are the claw clipper and one fine wire brush. Each other tool is designed, and designed well, for each type of cat's fur for which it is meant. Each tool in the Long Hair kit is meant to dig deep into the long or thick fur and groom down to the skin, yet not be damaging to the cat's skin. The tools are very high quality with stout design and good handles. These are prime quality, well made tools.I am very impressed. There were grooming tools in here of types I have never seen before and I've had cats for fifty years. For my thick-furred boy (the large orange cat in the photos), he's less of a long-hair than he is a cat with very thick fur with a heavy undercoat that mats easily. Spring shedding time is a mess with him, with mats that form year-'round. I had been trying to brush and comb them out with the kind of brushes you can get at pet stores with little success. I usually resorted to clipping them out, sometimes shaving them. Neither he nor I enjoyed these sessions. Then I used the heavy, curved-tooth grooming tool from the Catit kit. I had never seen a cat comb like this, but it dug in and pulled out all the mats WITHOUT tugging on them! The design seems to grab and cut the mats, then pull them out without hurting the cat. I was amazed. I filled the Catit's cover twice over with fur and he purred loudly the entire time. At the end, all the mats were gone.A few more sessions with that tool and the others, and his fur is in better shape and silkier than it's ever been before in his life. Bonus - he hasn't puked up a furball since either. In the photos I added, the orange cat is the thick-furred cat, and the tool kit on the left is the Long Hair Grooming kit. The kit on the right is the Short Hair kit and is for the Siamese in the photos, and another Siamese I have with even lighter, thinner fur. As I said, they are very different tool kits. The tool I used on the orange cat I would not use on the Siamese. Each kit is equally good, but do choose the appropriate one for your cat.

I'll start by saying I have an older long hair cat who now has a heck of a time grooming himself. My primary reason to want to try this kit was to address the hair mats and obscene amount of hairballs that seem to come up now. Before I get started, I will say I thought it was kind of odd the paperwork that comes with this kit shows the other two kits, medium and short-hair, components in great detail but not this one at all. I don't know why i would want or need details of the kits I didn't receive, but there it is. Now this does come with a curved come with sharp and serrated edges to work on hair clumps of hair. My eldest cat has never liked brushing, but a few weeks of short spurts of attention to his neck and sides,it cleared it away. The big mat under his belly, on the other hand... is more of a challenge. It works well though and comes with a plastic cover to keep you from cutting yourself. Everything else i use in short spurts, but the medium length haired cat really likes the brush. He just loves it! And neither of them really like their paws touched so I had to let the vet try the claws this time around... perhaps over time they'll adjust. The grips are nice, the plastic feels quality. The only complaint I have is they seem a little small for my hands, so I am not sure this would be that handy for men who have a lot larger hands... i get their cats, but humans have to use this.Anyway, it's a nice set, stores readily in the closet, is clearly labeled already and when you have it open everything is readily available and in reach. This is a nice set, especially for a new cat owner, and a nice one for those of us who've had cat all our lives but only really picked up odds and pieces now and then.

With four short-haired cats, I have more than my share of cat hair around the house, which is why this set intrigued me. Unfortunately, I also have four cats who aren't especially fond of being groomed, except by themselves, of course, or sometimes by each other. So apart from the nail trimmer (which is nice and sharp and ergonomically designed), and perhaps the wire slicker brush, I'm not sure how much use this kit will get in my home--not for my lack of trying but for the negative responses from the cats.I've tried the various components on my crew, and other than the one who's most cooperative about claw clipping and brushing, they all bailed the first time I tried to use them.I've had a similar tool to the rubber thingy with nubs, which is supposed to gather loose fur from the undercoat, and the one in this kit, like that, was a bomb. (It works fine, they just don't like it, even when I follow each pass with a hand stroke.) The cooperative one likes the wire slicker brush, but not the comb, and was indifferent to the nylon slicker brush. A couple of the others tolerated the wire slicker brush, but none would stand for the comb or the nylon slicker brush (and it's not clear to me what the nylon brush supposed to accomplish. The instructions say it detangles and smoothes their coats, but since they're short hair, there aren't any tangles to begin with). It's not clear to me what the comb is actually for. The instructions say it's for sensitive and hard-to reach areas, but the tines are so widely spaced, I can't see that it would do any good on a short-haired cat. Mine actually prefer a flea comb.)Interestingly, most of mine will cooperate with this tool,

This missed being 5-star by virtual of some seemingly obvious features they missed. I'm kinda hoping Catit reads these as their web site offers no handy way to give suggestions and feedback.I love the container, the idea that the lid is a "fur bucket" while grooming, nice selection of tools, and a good price compared to buying this all separately.Misses however:--The black foam that holds the tools will probably "shed" over the life of the kit. The molded tool area on the bottom should probably use more durable materials.--The lid should lock to the bottom so the entire kit can be palmed from the top. Something as simple as a tight twist-to-lock or push tabs would do.--Like many of their other products, the bottom needs rubber feet or better the rubber o-ring style foot on the bottom to keep it from slipping on smooth surfaces (really surprised they missed this based on their food bowl and fountain, which I own)--The comb needs to be smaller. I have a big male cat (13+ lbs.) and the comb is far too big and makes it not very useful for combing the chin, chest, and top of the head. On my smaller (9 lb.) cat, it's even more of a problem. The teeth on the comb need to be a bit shorter and 25% fewer teeth to shorten-up the comb's length. Honestly, this looks more like a dog-sized comb, or for larger longhair cats.I generally love Catit's products, this one just needs a little work compared to their food and water products. I also like it being self-contained; we're still considering a second one so we can have one upstairs and one downstairs so there is always a grooming kit handy to remind us.

I have 3 (ex-feral) sister cats which I adopted at 1, 2, and 4 year's old. Two are medium length hair and one is a long hair. Despite living on the street before they have become primadonnas and really love being brushed. I've tried all sorts of brushes. Some hurt the long haired one and she would jump off and wouldn't let me continue. I tried out all the implements in the kit and her favorite is the slicker brush. She even lets me do her sides and chest! It doesn't seem to pull or go to deep as some do. Even the shorter her cats like this brush. The hair brush type gives them a nice massage. I tried the "Furminator" type brush but since the long hair doesn't have any knots at this time,it was hard to judge how well it cuts through. I love the top which doubles as a little trash can for the hair and once done makes a nice compact kit which the kitties can't get into. All in all this is a beautiful kit, perfect for gift giving to a cat lover. The price game me a bit of a start but it has come down a lot in the last couple of weeks since I received this for review. Possibly the merchant has seen the comments on the reviews and lowered the price. At the current price of $39.99 this kit is an excellent value. Especially since the "Furminator" alone sells for around $24 at the local pet store. If your cat is a persian or medium length hair, the short hair kit should suffice unless she regular gets knots. Either kit is a wonderful addition to the cat household.

The beautiful casing and sleek design of this kit makes it a joy to keep out near the cat tree. The close-tight lid makes it play-proff for the cats, and the dog ignores it entirely... unless I open it to groom the cats and then he's front and center waiting for his turn (he's a long-haired dog and this works great for his coat as well around the ears and neck). While my cat isn't long enough to have matting issues, the dog is and the mats do come right out with the dematting knife comb (it has built in blades so be careful!). The pin comb does a nice job of lifting out the undercoat my cats are blowing with the hot humid midwest weather, and the slicker brush does a nice job catching all of the loose top coat and dandruff. My cat let me groom her for 20 minutes the first time I used this kit and looked disappointed when I stopped. Cat #2 was jealous and kept trying to butt in for his turn, so there must have been some serious enjoyment signals and noises from Cat #1. For quick touch ups I use the pin brush... it's also great for giving a little kitty message when they need that extra TLC and spoiling. Seriously- if you watch the video that is included on the Amazon product page, this is exactly how my cat acted while I was grooming her- and she's typically a no-touchy touchy cat.

If you bought all the items individually, it would probably add up to this amount or close anyway; you can get cheap ones and do better price-wise, but I don't know about their quality. If you already have some tools, you might want to shop for individual pieces. Don't expect miracles without spending time as it is a slow process, even using these. However, my cat who hates and bites at all brushes tolerates the comb a bit better, so that was educational for me. The spacing on the pin brush is slightly closer than on the one I bought eons ago somewhere (?). The handles are thick and round, so they would be good for people with arthritis in their hands.I have not used the nail-trimmer as I have had ones of similar design in the past and find a people nail-trimmer just as good (but I do not trim very short). As another reviewer commented, being able to snap the lid on and a handle would be nice, but it is certainly not a deal-breaker for me. I have not used the heavy mat tool as my cats don't have any, thank goodness. I had decided since I have several things already, to return it and buy just the ones I don't have, but found it is non-returnable.

This Catot 2.0 Long Hair cat grooming kit is the bees knees! It comes in a cute outer cardboard box that his designed with all kinds of kitty cats doing things, that sets the stage for a great presentation. The kit itself is housed in a very nice plastic lidded container. It measures 9 inches tall and is 6 inches wide.Remove the top lid and you find a very professional and well made cat grooming kit that has everything a cat lover will ever need for home grooming. The base has a sponge bottom to hold the utensils in an upright position. The kit includes 2 varieties of combs, 2 varieties of brushes, and a nice set of nail clippers. (If you start clipping your cats claws when they are young, they don't mind having them clipped at all).We love our cats and spend a lot of time grooming them. One is a long haired mixed breed cat and he sheds almost year around. He likes being brushed and loves being the principal benefactor of this new set! This set has great presentation and the tools inside are good quality. It would be a great gift for a new cat owner or even a cat groomer. I highly recommend this cat grooming set.

I absolutely love working with my cats using the well-designed Catit Grooming Kit for Short-Haired Cats. Each of these tools is extremely sturdy, and works well at what it is designed for. I think it would be useful to be able to purchase additional tools separately (because I also have long-haired cats) as an add-on without purchasing the entire Catit Long-Haired Grooming Kit, but overall I'm very happy with the items that DID come in this set. My cats weren't quite as impressed as I was, but that is my fault - not the kit's! I didn't start grooming them early on as kittens, getting them used to the tools and how they feel.Overall I am very pleased with my Catit Grooming Kit for Short-Haired Cats - even though I've only had it for a short time,I can already see the immense benefits of regular grooming with high-quality tools such as these. Thank you, Catit, for a lovely set of grooming equipment!

Great product. At $40, I initially scoffed at the price. Why not keep using the $5 brush from a generic pet store? See the pictures I've attached to this review. The plastic bag is what came off of my cat in the first 20min of using the brush kit. I had just brushed my cat yesterday with the generic one (pictured as well) and the difference between this $40 kit vs $5 brush is night and day. I'm included the manual as well as the description of each brushes purpose. I don't think that there's a specific order to use the brushes, but I went down the line (1, 2, and 3) and used the 4 when I encountered a matted patch. This won't revolutionize the world for you, but at $40, it's a healthy investment. The tools themselves feel very well put together. I will update if there's anything wrong

This is a good product. I have a rag doll who needs daily grooming. She's a sweetheart. The only thing I took a star off for is the lack of a self-cleaning slicker brush. It's a great kit, but having to waste time cleaning out the brush is annoying, so I've replaced it with my safari version of that brush. With that minor fix, it's perfect! It's got everything you'll need to groom your long haired cat in one convenient place. Please remember that this contains a bladed dematting tool, and needs to be out of the reach of children. Also remember to ask your vet if your cat hass long hair if you are not sure. Using the bladed item on a cat with short hair would cause injury. If you have a short haired kitty,Catit makes a grooming set for them too, so be sure to look it up.

Firstly, I really enjoy having all the tools in a central location. The canister with foam insert that comes with this kit does the job well. The provided assortment of tools are pretty much everything that a cat owner would need to groom their kitty. There is nothing that makes these tools extra special but then again, they do the job well and that's all one can expect. I suppose there are specialty items/tools that may do the job better but you would be spending a heck of a lot more in the end. This is a well thought-out kit that works as expected and I would recommend this to other cat lovers.

I own 3 kitties 2 short hair 1 long hair. Even though it's advertised for short hair it worked well on my long haired kitty as well.My Trixie usually comes running when she sees the brush. There was no acception here. We really love the rubber brush. It's jental and removes so much hair. Everything else works well and it's a great kit to have, But I feel the star item is defiantly that rubber brush. There is a neat little foam insert so everything has its place. Great little grooming kit. Really all we can ask for. RECOMMENDED!

We have two long haired cats who get matted fur easily. Luckily they love being groomed as they've been used to it from kitten-hood. The best items in this set are the normal brush and the comb. The comb is actually quite special as it rolls through the fur (use the brush first). The de-matter looks pretty fierce - haven't tried it yet.Although I'm unlikely to use every item in the set, still very happy I purchased it.
