This has a linear array of 3 bright red lights which can be operated in 4 modes including full constant beam and flashing modes. I had the previous version of this light TL-LD630 (which can still be bought on Amazon). The switch function is much better and more reliable on the new version. This new version seems even brighter than the previous. It differs from the older version by running on a USB rechargeable lithium battery instead of a single AA battery. A full charge takes only 2 hours. The old version was supposed to run for 80 hours in flashing mode (which seemed an accurate estimation to me as a the battery lasted the whole winter). The new version is supposed to run for 30 hours on a single charge-for me the low power consumption negates the importance of rechargeability. I did not readily see how to change the lithiumbattery when it finally dies but hopefully it will last.As remarked elsewhere here, the light is supplied with a thick rubber band which attaches it to your bike. This seems a bit flimsy. Luckily the light also fits on the sturdier strap fitting supplied with the original version-this can also be bought separately but why not supply it with the light ?

Great example of a well designed product. Lightweight, integrated Li-ion battery, multi-mode light.Don't be deceived by its size. Mounted horizontally or vertically for your choice of light dispersal, it makes light work of being seen in the dark.I kept purchasing cheaper alternatives from high st. catalogue stores, thinking I didn't really use the bike that much in the evening to justify decent equipment. Each year or two, they'd fall apart and needed replacing. Big ugly bulky things that were unreliable and guzzle batteries like there was no tomorrow. Anyway, lesson learnt, finally. The only negative is the mount provided with it,easily lost as it works itself loose - it just consists of what is just a rubber/silicon band and a plastic mounting bracket. Upgrade it to the CatEye 'Flex Mount for Rear Light Black' for a few quid extra (currently almost £8 but less than a week ago it was just under £3).

I bought this as a back up light for my hub dynamo lights.Charged it up, tested it, and put it in the saddle bag for emergency use. When I tested it again the batter was flat.I wasn't sure if it had been switched on by accident, so charged it up again and put it beside the charger on the work surface. Each day I switched it on very briefly to check the light came on.Within 5 days the battery was flat.Tested again and confirmed this.I am now searching for a way to return this to Amazon outside the one month window. It is clearly not fit for purpose, so there should be a returns mechanism.OK - Amazon (once I had found the correct route to contact them)accepted responsibility and replaced it with free carriage on the return of the old one.I have now run the same test and the battery is retaining charge. It will now be used as an emergency spare.Rating upgraded to 4*

So far so good with this LED rear light. It is really bright and has several modes of flashing (plus constant mode) available. After fully charging it I tested how long it would last on full brightness: it was still going after three hours. The manufacturer rates it as 3h Constant; 30h Flashing; 5h Rapid. Charging is via a standard sized USB cable (supplied), so if you have an Android phone you will probably have a suitable charger already available. Perhaps the supplied bracket is a little disappointing as it consists of a holder which is secured to the bike with a rubber ring. Fortunately I was able to modify a more substantial bracket that I had from a previous light.Cat Eye appears to be a Japanese maker although the light itself is manufactured in China. It has a 2 year warranty.

Ordered yesterday evening, arrived today, 10. 00 a.m ordered 2 units to replace a failed Cateye non rechargeable unit.Arrived partly charged so easy to check in working order.Li ion battery fully charged in under two hours and lamps now fixed to two bikes using existing Cateye click fit clamps (NOT SUPPLIED) so now very secure and easy to take off to prevent theft. They seem very bright and now there is no need to carry batteries. They look like they will be waterproof, the USB socket is covered by a sturdy rubber bung that remains attached when pulled out for charging the unit. I could not use the rubber band fixing to the bike fitting that Cateye now supply as my rear forks have a low angle and are narrow so glad I saved my older Cateye mounts. So one star off for this.

Don’t you just love Amazon? What did you use this product for? Erm....well I use it as a rear light for my bike.....yet to try it down the disco rocking my moves, but you never know. You bought this rear bike light! Buy another! Wha? Ah’ve gorra light for me bike. Bought it off youse lot.Anyway. Back to the light. It’s fine, lasts for ages on one charge (never drained it on a ride yet). Get the clip as well so that you scan pop it on and off without struggling with twangy rubber bands which never seem to be the right sizeYou’ve read this far on a review about a rear light for a bike? You need to get out more.I only wrote this because I’m chilling after a killer Thai curry and a rather tasty Riesling.

This is a very bright light, with several modes and good 180° visibility. It weighs next to nothing and is very easy to attach. I've had no weather-proofing issues with it, and the battery seems very good. I got it to replace another CatEye that I had for 5 or 6 years/ 40,000 miles.I am quite fixated on bike lights- I try to have a couple of back-up options instead any fail. It's worth paying a few extra quid for branded lights: without exception, any light I have bought that is under about £20 has lasted days or weeks. I personally like CatEye and Lezyne, and have had great service from both.

It's very small and bright. I tested continuous mode to run for over 4hrs (3hrs advertised), it then switches to flashing mode. One minor issue I had was that when I used a different cable to charge, the finished charging light did not come on. It does not appear to have done any damage though, but best to use the supplied cable. There is some noticeable PWM flicker.

A great little light. I've never spent much money on rear lights, relying instead on cheap ones and loads of high vis.Since changing to these though, I seem to have had fewer close passes, haven't had to worry about my light giving out after 4 or 5 hours and haven't had to fiddle with rubber bands. All in all, I don't hesitate to recommend these lights at all.

Quite small and very light. It can fitted horizontally or vertically without moving the mounting hardware. The steady mode is fine, the flashing modes are to me too slow or too fast and distracting. Ideally I'd like something between the slow pulsing (almost hypnotic!) light and the fast, bright strobing effect. But it charges quickly and lasts a good while.

I use my bike to cycle on main roads to and from town, this is absolutely fine for that. Nice and bright with multiple modes. The usb charger is very easy to insert into the light. My only downside is that it attaches to your bike with an elastic band that is in no way permanently attached. Within about 2 uses I'd lost mine so now use a hair band!

I was so disappointed when I saws the package, the light was so small. Then I turned it on. I could see spots in front of my eyes. My colleague who is a keen cyclist said the same thing. Surprised something that small could dazzle. Very happy with my purchase. Just looking for a suitable light for the front of my bike from Cateye

I have not owned a CatEye for quite some time. Chinese lights at 2 pounds a pop took the market but you take this in our hands and you realise what you paid for - this is a thing of beauty. It's made exceptionally well and CatEyes's signature pulsing mode is fabulous! I'm glad I own a quality bike light yet again!

The light has several options of flashing which are easy to change. I found the optional mounting bracket a great extra to have. This does allow you to slide the light assemby off it without having to take off the bracket or mess with the elastic straps if you are placing it in the same place on the frame.

Usual excellent Cateye build. I was surprised how small it is - the picture isn't a good guide. However, it's output is good and will alert drivers behind you.I would recommend that you buy the more permanent mount sold separately for a fiver by Amazon rather than rely on the Rubber Band it comes with.
