Very straightforward to pair with an iPhone 5 (iOS 7) and picks up a Bluetooth connection easily if you leave your phone in another room and go out of range. Uses an iOS app called Casio+ to configure the watch - got a slight "new gadget thrill" by being able to configure buttons/alarms/other settings directly from the app. As the other reviewer says, time zones don't quite work for world time (there's a sort of backwards daylight saving effect) but hopefully that will be sorted by Casio updating the app in due course.Alerts - phone, SMS, email and anything else from the iOS notification screen - such as Facebook/Twitter notifications - appear on the watch and you can set it so that these trigger a beep,a vibration, or neither and you can vary the alert depending on the type of notification. Also, you can switch off some or all of the notifications if you prefer via the app.Like another reviewer, I also paired with Wahoo Fitness easily enough and again, the app works very smoothly and is very polished in terms of its interaction with the watch.Physically the watch resembles a Casio G-Shock watch but doesn't have G-Shock mineral glass as far as I can tell so I presume it's slightly more fragile, but it certainly feels very robust and sturdy and looks the part. That said, the only question for me was whether to get this or its close G-Shock cousin, GBX6900. This watch is cheaper and pairs with fitness software, which the G-Shock does not do. The GBX-6900 is presumably much more shock-resistant and if it weren't for the fitness software pairing here (which I wanted) I might well have bought that.Assuming therefore that like me you passed on the G-Shock, all in all this a high quality "smart" watch and critically it doesn't look overly geeky like some people think Pebble or Samsung smart watches do (insofar as Casio digital watches don't look geeky in general). Casio has spent a lot of time getting it to work intuitively and smoothly with the iOS app and it shows - this is no beta product and I would highly recommend it.

I liked the look of the Casio STB-1000 and the spec and the fact that it was Bluetooth enabled. The sports apps looked interesting but the two things I liked most were the watch updating its time and date from the phone and the vibrating alarm for an incoming call. Then I saw that Casio didn't support Android phones for this watch and that made me :-(.Then I saw the reviews mentioning the Bluewatcher app so I thought I'd take a chance.Thank you people, I'm glad I did, Bluewatcher works as advertised. It took me a while to work out that when the app says "connected" the watch is still sorting itself out.Sometimes the watch times out and you need to press and hold the POWER button again to restart bluetooth but it usually connects on the second attempt if it doesn't on the first (but see update). Leave the phone alone while it's doing this, if you mess about with it it'll cause problems. When the watch connects it beeps or vibrates a couple of times then about 10 seconds later the watch time is updated. (I set the wrong time and date to test it.) The time is synchronised with the phone so the accuracy depends on the phone network. If you need absolute accuracy you have to use something like wave ceptor but a watch that's always within a few seconds of the right time is good enough for me. Being two seconds slow isn't going to make me miss my bus ;-).If Casio get the sports apps working under Android that'll be a bonus. My phone: Xiaomi Red 1S, Android 4.3UPDATE: The watch often takes several attempts to connect to the Bluewatcher app, i.e. Bluewatcher says it's connected, the watch times out so you press "POWER", the watch times out, repeat until you get bored. If that happens I've found the easiest solution is to exit Bluewatcher, go into the phone's bluetooth settings, unpair the watch and pair it again after which it usually connects first time.

Great watch loaded with features and tech. G-Shock build quality at a Casio price. Regarding the Bluetooth connectivity. It is designed specifically to work with iPhone and some iPhone specific fitness apps. If it is the fitness apps you are interested in and have an Android phone then forget it, it won't work with them. If however you just want a full featured and good looking watch with some bluetooth features at a great price then you should buy it. It WILL work with Android with some provisos. Firstly you need to download a free app called Bluewatcher. The Casio bluetooth app wont work with Android, don't waste your time trying. The bluewatcher app will allow you to control your android phone music player and will give notifications of incoming calls, sms, facebook messages etc with either vibration or audible bleep or both. The phone/watch time synch and 'phonefinder' function also work. All of these things need to be configured within the Bluewatcher app. It is a technical watch and so you have to be prepared to read the instructions and spend time learning how to get the best from it. I have read people say it constantly loses the bluetooth link but this is either due to the power saving feature of the watch (which can be turned off if you wish) or the distance between phone and watch became out of range.Anyway, to summarise even without the bluetooth side of things this watch is easily worth the money. Mineral lens, hi quality display, multiple alarms, world time, stopwatch, great illumination, etc etc plus it is very rugged. Almost a G-Shock watch in all but name. Seriously it's a bargain.

I’m a Casio fan and have used their digital watches for years. I dislike analogue displays and prefer a digital readout. It’s a nice chunky watch. It certainly gives the impression of robustness and both the watch and strap are great quality. I particularly like the display which is a good size and clear. There’s an app you can download from the App Store (I have an iPhone) which is specific to the watch and allows the watch to set itself from the phone, including the second country of your choice, the correct time etc. The Bluetooth connection worked eventually though I think it was more me making a mess of it that caused the delay. As much as I like the watch and the ability to have it connected to the phone to keep the time updated,I’m a bit of a Philistine in other areas. So I quickly got fed up with it beeping every time a text or message came in to the phone and I realised it was going to shorten the battery life a lot. There’s no way of turning the beep off and although I disconnected the link on the app, the watch still kept searching for the phone and beeped every now and then to tell me it was having problems. So in the end I deleted the app! The watch does what I want now. It acts like a watch! As you can guess I’d never buy a smart watch of any description and I don’t want the watch trying to do things I’m not interested in. What I am interested in is a quality watch, robust in every detail with a clear readout and an easy system of going between the various modes (time, stopwatch, alarm etc) and the STB-1000 is it.

Tested with Wahoo Fitness (very configurable UI, including the customization of all the five keys).Through Wahoo Fitness (over an iPhone), this watch can provide real-time information from e.g. a cadence sensor, a speed sensor, a heart rate monitor sensor and the assisted GPS (e.g. MSL altitude), where all sensors are connected to an iPhone kept in your pocket.Tested with Casio Watch+ (small issue with time zones). Casio Watch+ can easily set vibrating or ringing alarms.Bluetooth interaction is a bit slow.Vibration is possibly too gentle, might not be prerceived all times.I could not succeed in manging the music remote control.Very clear multilanguage manuals. No BTLE SDK looks available.

If you don't mind the colour and use an iphone, the orangey/red model is great value @ £50. The only downside is rather slow bluetooth connection, especially when you start up a running app - you just need patience. I use it with a 5c and very rarely have connection problems - I have it on all day connected to the CASIO app. If you are like me and wander around TESCO with your phone in your pocket on mute, oblivious to the other half's texts for extra carrots then this watch is a life saver!! There are a lot of running apps that work, each with a different degrees of display customisation (which surprised me - I thought they would all look the same on the watch).

Good watch, but....You can use only basic functions on Android phones.Working well on Xperia z3 compact. I'm using bluewatcher app.I have basic functions:call and message notifications, (sound and vibrations )phone finder, music control. But unfortunately sport applications like strava or endomondo dont support this watch on Android. So no chance to get Heart rate, or current pace using Android phones.Even with that basic functionality watch is very useful in loud environment. With vibrating notifications you never miss a call or text message.

I would love to have given it 5 stars but it loses connection to the phone strapped to my waist sometimes for maybe 10 seconds and WILL NOT work with the Samsung Galaxy Note 4, the Casio android app & the third party bluewatch app are both unable to support it even though the Note 4 is Bluetooth v4 as the watch spec says is required.

Does its job, don't buy it if you expect it to be an apple watch or something like that. Its a rugged everyday watch with the benefit of letting you know your wanted by someone if you have heard your phone. Had no Bluetooth issues either like others have mentioned

Takes a bit of patience but links in with both cyclometer (elite version) and runtastic with no issues. Be wary if you run or exercise with Bluetooth headphones, only one device at a time. Otherwise great watch and at fifty quid great value hence the five stars.

Great watch! Managed to pair it with a 3rd party app called BlueWatcher as I am using an Android device.Strongly recommend it as an affordable watch with Bluetooth capabilities.

Nice watch nice price ( doesn't work on iPhone 4 ) But does work on iPhone 4s up and recent update makes it work on iPhone 6 and 6 Plus ( software on App Store )
