I've been disappointed in the past to receive a shiny new hard drive which hasn't been provided with a suitable case by the manufacturer. It seems that it's quite common now which means that there's a huge market in cases such as this one from Case Logic. I know this brand to be a good one thanks to other products of theirs that I own, and had bought another in black a few months ago (I bought this red one direct from Amazon). It's a pretty good case which is well made and will offer some protection from damage although I must admit to being disappointed that I doesn't have much cushioning in the inside of the case.It is made from a semi-rigid fabric material but lacks foam lining which might help in the event that it's accidentally dropped onto a hard surface - the hard drives themselves can be quite expensive but the photographs, music and other data stored on them can be priceless. I've tried it with my Samsung M3 1TB USB 3.0 Slimline Portable Hard Drive - Blackand also a Seagate STDR1000200 1TB Backup Plus USB 3.0 2.5 Inch External Hard Drive - Black and both fit well inside (one at a time) with ample space for their USB leads, but found it too small for use with an older Seagate drive which has a longer body.

I'm very impressed with the quality of this case. It seems to be well designed and thought out.I chose this case based on Amazon's "Frequently Bought Together" suggestion when purchasing the Expansion HDD. As many reviewers have pointed out the case is surprisingly small but is this, such a bad thing? I found a review which mentioned the same drive and said it fitted perfectly. Well I finally decided it does fit. I say finally as I had to decide if it was, really, too small. The drive goes in. Just. I haven't felt comfortable using sufficient force to get the drive under the strap and have simply placed it in the case and zipped it up. I'll have to be careful unzipping as one could, I suppose, fumble and drop the drive. The drive has one slopping side and thus it sits in one side of the case but is then 'upside down'. As far as I'm aware these drives aren't sensitive to being upside down. Anyway it goes in without squeezing or forcing and seems secure and doesn't rattle about. Not that I've shaken it. So I've ordered another for the other Expansion HDD.

I bought both a black and red version of this case to protect my WD My Passport Ultra 2TB portable drives and am pleased by the quality. The case feels well made and durable and also looks like it would be firm enough to protect the hard drive from damage if dropped from a moderate height or if something were dropped on it (I'm not going to test this!).Inside there is a strap to hold the drive in place and it is surprisingly firm. There's no chance of the drive sliding out even if you held the case upside down whilst open. There is a net pocket on the inside of the top half of the case to store your USB cable for the device and again this is firm enough to prevent the cable sliding out unless you shake it around. There's enough internal padding to prevent the zip (which also feels sturdy)from scratching the device, which is something I always appreciate with any kind of case. And to top it all off, it looks great when zipped shut! My only wish was that there had also been a blue version to match the colour of the hard drive.

I have 2 seagate 1TB portable hard drives, one is go-flex with usb 3.0 support. This one has a small extension over the rectangular hard drive. So, I wasn't sure if this case would fit it properly. I went through a lot of reviews which suggested it might be a snug fit, but went with it coz it serves the purpose of guarding the hdd like a sleeve around it.My other seagate fitted well with room for the cable on the pouch inside. For the goflex non-slim drive I had to push it into the pouch and keep the cable with my other hard drive's pouch. So, if you are looking to buy it for the goflex non-slim drive, just keep in mind that it might be snug fit when you try to fit it in with the usb 3.0 adaptor.Otherwise great product for the price.Shipping was exceeding expectations, arrived the next day on both orders ( i did not have prime membership and ordered with another seller who had least price quote :D ) ...

I'm really impressed with the Case Logic Foam Case. It doesn't seem to be 'foam' though, which is a little bit misleading - it's actually better and more sturdy than that; more like hard plastic, so I feel they're not doing themselves many favours calling it a foam Case!It fits my Samsung M3 1TB Portable Hard Drive perfectly, securely under an inch thick strip of elastic, which is well sewn in. The USB cable and two 32GB flash drives fit in perfectly under a stretchy well secured mesh which is really well sewn and good quality. The outer zip is really thick and strong, I have used it every day, zipping and unzipping since I bought it earlier this year and I am confident it won't let me down for a good few years. The colour is a really lovely dark blood cherry red too - lovely!I recommend this product for both practicality and style :)

A well made case that offers good protection for my Western Digital Elements 2TB external hard drive. It's not 100% rigid, there is some 'give' but it seems sturdy enough to withstand a few knocks and bumps. The zip looks to be of good quality too so overall the construction and quality of this item is of a very good standard, as one would expect from a premium brand like Case Logic. The elastic inside the holds the drive securely in place in one half of the case and a net pocket offers storage for the cable in the other half. As the net has a loose weave and is quite thin I have slipped an extra piece of cardboard inside the pocket to protect the drive from being scratched by the metal USB plugs on the cable.Just a small niggle in what is otherwise a good quality product that I would certainly not hesitate to recommend.

I bought several Case Logic cases which are usually cost effective, well-built, light and durable. The case isn't too cumbersome, and while adding bulk to it's contents, makes up for it in protection. The outside of the casing is quite rigid but textured which avoids it slipping out of your hand adding some additional security over and above the knock protection for which it is designed. There isn't much padding in the case, but internally it is covered in felt, and has a mesh pocket on one side for loose items (cables, SD cards etc), while on the other, there is an elastic strap to secure the intended (but not included)external hard drive.I purchased it with the Transcend 1 TB 2.5 inch USB 3.0 Military-Grade external drive to use as a mobile back device for my Macbook Pro, however it works just as well with Windows.

I couldn't have expected more from a portable HDD case.It is hard-enough but yet flexible, which makes it very durable. Its finish is of high standards. In the inside there is a thick rubber band running along the case on one side of the case, which securely holds the drive in place while allowing for easy insertion and removal. At the other side there is a pocket made of a net-like material, which holds the cable and any lose parts. My only criticism is that in the photo the stripe/band seen on the case appears as something that would allow mounting the case to a belt. It would have been nice if it could be fitted to a belt to allow carrying it with you without the need to stick it in a pocket or a toolbox.Unfortunately this is not the case. That band is there only for decorative purposes.

I have more than a dozen of these hard cases but this is the first time I have purchased a hard case coloured other than basic black. I chose a red case this time round because the hard disk drive (HDD) I purchased with it was also coloured red. The pairing of red case and red HDD can be found on the Amazon website. I purchased both together.I use the HDD with a 15" MacBook Pro which just so happens is fitted with a red polycarbonate, protective outer shell to protect the natural silver-grey matt finish of the MacBook Pro's metal chassis. Maybe it was vanity I chose to have a red laptop, a red HDD with a red hard case. At least I now know which HDD to use with my red MacBook Pro.I reserve black for my other MacBook Pros. Red is reserved for my day-to-day MacBook Pro.

Fits a Seagate STBU1000202 1 Tb usb3 drive snugly, and takes the usb lead. Slightly softer externally than I expected, but that isn't the fault of the case. It's quite clearly stated that it's semi-rigid, so it's down to me not reading the spec properly. Main thing is that it will protect the drive adequately. Minor quibble is that the elastic holding the drive inside the case has a slight fray - not enough to cause a problem or send back, hence the loss of one star. Other than that, it looks attractive, and is small enough to fit into a jacket pocket. The red drive this matches was for my daughter. I'm planning on buying another Seagate portable drive for myself, and when I do,I'll happily buy another of these reasonably priced cases to go with it.

This was a bit more expensive than some of the alternatives (though cheaper than others). Based on the reviews it seemed like the best option. And now I've received it, I'm confident that I've chosen wisely: nothing could beat it. It fits the Samsung M3 like a glove; the elastic strap holds the hard drive in place securely and the mesh pocket holds the USB lead & instruction booklet. It's sturdy and really feels like it will do a good job of protecting its contents...as well as fitting beautifully in my hand and looking very neat. This one is for my son to protect his newly-acquired M3 - but I'm off to order one for my own M3. Protective, attractive case &, while I can't speak for other hard drives,I can assure you it's perfect for the Samsung M3.

To start off this review, Case Logic offer a lot of quality products which is one reason why I chose to purchase this. Once again, they didn't disappoint. This Hard Drive case is incredibly sturdy and offers a very ridged build which is definitely needed if it's job is to carry a Hard Drive.Inside the case you get two compartments, one for the hard drive itself and one for cables and any other accessories. The main hard drive case has an elastic strap that secures the hard drive in place which is good and will keep the hard drive still when carrying around however it will still be secure even without it due to the protected build of the case.Out of all the cases I viewed, this was the best one I could find and for the price, you can't go wrong.

I've had one for just over a year. I use it to carry a backup drive when I take my laptop away. Initially I used it for a StarTech InfoSafe 2.5" SATA Drive enclosure, and now for a Samsung M3. The StarTech enclosure rattles around in it a bit, but the Samsung is a very snug fit in the width. I imagine it would not contain some of the larger ruggedized drive enclosures. The usb cable tidies away quite neatly in the other half of the case. It seems reasonably well made and the zip still works. I have not yet had the misfortune to drop test it with an enclosed drive, but it seem to offer reasonable protection to the disk. It is fairly rigid, yet soft enough to deform and absorb some of the shock when dropped.I would buy another one.

This is a sturdily and well built case as you'd expect from Case Logic. It's semi rigid, so should protect your portable hard disk from most day-to-day bumps and scrapes, although unlikely to survive submerging in a pond or lake, nor a fall from height. The case has a zip closure and opens up like a clam, one side has an elastic strap from top to bottom which holds the hard disk in (I'm using it to hold a HGST Touro MX which fits perfectly), with a small pocket on the other side for your USB cable. The webbing on the front of the case is really just a design flourish in my opinion (it may add a little more rigidity); it might have been nice to be able to slot papers under.A decent case from abrand I'm comfortable with.

This is a great little case. I have used it to store "Transcend 1TB 2.5 inch USB 3.0 Military-Grade Shock Resistance Portable External Hard Drive" with enough room for a USB cable. I have previously used it to store 2 smaller hard drives together - I forget the models but they are were pretty slim. Now I have a second one of these cases for a Polaroid Zip.It's not waterproof but it feels durable and provides better protection than a neoprene case without being overly bulky. If you plan on carrying your gadgets around with you in a rucksack it's worth having to keep gadgets and cables together and more importantly to provide a bit of protection from the odd scuff/ knock. For the price I'd recommend it.
