If you're in the market for a printer, you'll have noticed there's a glut of these devices around with seemingly similar capabilities - wifi enabled, scanning & faxing, and colour printing. This is a fairly typical example for the price & specifications, but it's actually not half bad. I've used an older Epson model (IIRC, an Epson XPS700) and wasn't hugely impressed; it drank (expensive) ink, threw the occasional wobbler, and especially annoying was a very slow startup time where it would grumble and grind away to itself for roughly 2 minutes before doing anything. In contrast, this Pixma doesn't do all of these annoying things. Printing and scanning from startup are decently quick on the Pixma, the print quality itself is visibly better than the Epson, the ink isn't outrageously expensive (it only requires 2 cartridges; a black + colour cartridge in contrast to some other printers which require multiple individual colour cartridges, a black cartridge, and a second "photo" black cartridge) and it's slightly smaller and quieter than the older Epson. The initial startup is a little odd, in that you print a test page, then scan it back into the software to check the print-head alignment, but after that, it's as you'd expect. The wifi setup is also quite straightforward; especially if you have a router with a WPS button, where setup consists solely of pressing these two buttons on the router and printer to pair them and that's it. A minor downside is the printer status panel, which is only a single line of scrolling text, but to be fair, pretty much all of the functions on a modern printer are controlled via your PC anyway, and the number of times you'll be pecking at buttons on the printer itself will be fairly rare.In all, it's well worth considering if you're looking for a printer - most notably, the cost of consumables is a lot lower than some of its competitors (on the order of about 2/3rds the price compared to the Epson I had). In all, I like this Pixma.

I bought this printer after having read the reviews and specifications of several other printers. I chose this particular one for several reasons a) the top loading and multi-sheet scanning facility, b) the ink cartridges are cheaper than most, c) the wireless printing facility. I am very impressed with the instructions on set-up, which was easy and connecting wirelessly is a doddle. The wireless connection is amazing I have the printer set up in a small bedroom upstairs and can print without any issues from anywhere in the house...perfect.As well as the wireless printing, this printer has the ability to print from and scan to the cloud. I use Microsoft 365 and this feature will be invaluable in saving time, with the instant accessibility.Economy print. this printer has an ink saving feature which extends the life of the cartridges for another 20-30%.I also like the fact that there is a front mounted power switch which is also illuminated, so a reminder if I have left it on, also quickly and easily identifiable, (not having to search around for the on/off switch).Envelope printing, with previous printers, I've never really had much success with this. The Canon MX495 however, has a centrally aligning lower tray. I wrote the address in Publisher on a DL template, put in the DL envelope upside down and the printer did it's job perfectly, no hassle, and no screwing up my envelopes nor jamming them in the mechanism happy :-)The software that came with it I downloaded then removed most of the features as I don't need my pictures organised or any other controls modifying my settings, but maybe useful to those printing many photos for an album and many other printing features.Overall really good value for money, unfortunately not many stockists of this model, so I bought mine through Amazon and really pleased.

Well it's an all in one printer, it prints, copies, scans and faxes, but I suspect you already knew that!As far as why I bought this printer, well mainly being a Mac owner my choices are somewhat limited, believe it or not, not all all-in-ones work equally as well on Macs as they do PCs. Well after lots of research and now extensive testing I can confirm that this one works just fine. The setup was straight forward and I was able to join my wireless network without issue. I had a similar experience making comms with my Mac.The printer is predominantly black. As far as attractiveness, this is certainly one of the better looking printers out there. It's no oil painting but no printer is,which is another bonus of WiFi printers, you could put them in the cupboard if you wanted to and use it exactly the same! (power permitting)One of my favourite features of this printer however is the app and the NFC printing function (images included). The app allows you to remote scan as well as remote print documents and images which are stored on your phone without having to transfer them to a memory stick or to your Mac/PC.Pros:1. Excellent price2. Solid feel3. Easy setup4. Fast5. NFC printing6. WiFi7. Mac compatibleCons:1. It's a printer.Verdict:Easy to install, solid purchase at a really good price. I'd highly recommend. If you have found this review to be of some use, please click the helpful button below. Have a great day.

Quick delivery and it works right out of the box.I have owned a MX868 printer from Canon several years ago and this new one MX495 is a replacement. The difficult setup process and unstable performance on WiFi network connectivity sometimes made me crazy, and the problem escalated when my friend's windows PC was trying to print with his winXP notebook. Everything seems good and smooth with this new printer, my Mac searched and connected and printed seamlessly with no driver installation process. My Win7 PC took time to install the driver from the included CD and it worked straight after a successful installation.Fully recommend this model for anyone wants a WiFi printer.

Brilliant machine, feels sturdy and looks professional. The multilingual manuals are super difficult to get to grips with however, and it’s so very different to any printer I’ve owned before so took quite a while to set up (like do not insert ink before turning on and following instructions, it’s not obvious on big sheet but it’s important) and getting it to sync with WiFi took a few goes but once your set up it’s good to go.The print quality is super clean, very quick and quieter than I’d have expected from such a bulky machine. Works great with laptop phone and iPad so very pleased.Arrived super quick too.

Good quality printer, takes a bit of time to set everything up especially as its Bluetooth (you will need to know your password for your broadband and you will need to be patient when copying your password). The disc does all the work installing everything for you. Once you're ready to print its very easy to use. (also good quality when printing photos) The only thing I haven't set up yet is working the printer from a tablet or phone (looking at the directions that seems to take some time). Definitely worth the money for what I'm using it for.

The printer is small in size and it was fairly easy and quite quick to set up the wireless printing function- although I felt the on screen instructions weren't as easily followed as they could be. It isn't as noisy as my previous MG2550 printer but pleased that it uses the same ink cartridges. Paper is loaded at the bottom of the printer so multi-page printing is easily carried out. Sheets DO NOT need to be fed individually. All functions work almost straight out of the box, so all in all a very good purchase.

Seems good.I work with a Chromebook - which I love - and I do not want anything more. So having this means that I am now all set up with Google Cloud Print - happy days.My only wrinkle in this is how I have to get scans done - I have to use the Canon Android app, to do the scan. This scans the image to my phone. I then need to do things with it from there, to get it into the Google world of Google Photos, or Google Drive. Hardly seamless !Other than that, all's good.

I've not had the printer up and running for very long, but what I have printed I've been very satisfied with. The setting up instructions that came with the printer were pretty difficult to understand, a family member and I managed to get the printer working eventually! The online manual is a minimum of 800 pages long and I would add that is ridiculous, but apart from that I would recommend this printer.Maxine Evans

Brought this as I have several devices in house and limited space, it was easy to set up, good value for money and allows me to print from anywhere in the house on any device including my phone. The quality is as expected from cannon, premium.Would recommend, but only buy if on offer I purchased for £30+, if price is higher would suggest looking at other models which are within £30 - 40 price range.

Great little 'all rounder' for the price.Once again, a good little package from Canon. We have bought 4 printers from the Pixma range so far without any complaints.Nice to have the facilities of a scanner, printer, photo-copier and a fax machine all in one package. Wireless printing is good too.Quick start up and shut down. Fairly swift first page print time too. Consumables are a good price too.

build quality not up to my old HP machine recently confined to the dustbin, but does the job very well. Not a fast copier but adequate for occasional home use. Print quality fine and wireless connection easy to set up and works very well both off my main PC and mobile. All in all amazing value but don't expect a Rolls Royce for this price.

This is an amazing printer, does all that you want it too. However it does take time to set up, so I urge you to be patient. I went on line to set mine up, my lap top does not have a CD drive, great not having wires trailing around you and of course you can put the printer in a discreet location, so long as the wifi is within reach.

Good Value and delivered promptly its very different from my previous Canon and takes time to set up the scanner has worked well and the copys are good quality especially the photos. The cartridges included with the printer had the minimum amount of ink so its advisable to have some spares ready if you need to do a large job

I really like it. Had to have someone come to put it in costing another 50€.it's working perfectly now . Very easy to use once it's in. Can print anything from anywhere in the apartment. Don't know how much the inks are going to cost me yet. 4 stars only because it's not as easy to start as is said in the instructions......
