Still not 100% on this lens after using it for a week now...will update as each week passes.I purchased the Canon EOS M100 camera with the standard lens as I needed a light weight point and shoot camera. Having owned larger EOS 350/450 etc size cameras I was expecting to keep the larger EOS cameras and lenses but after using the much smaller M100 I have been amazed by the quality and now purchased this F2/ 22mm lens for it. The lens allows for all the portrait type photography and also takes a great macro type closeup photo.Teamed up with the m series eos cameras this lens allows you to take a camera which is capable of taking sharp photos with the added advantage of taking up lityle more roomthan a modern smartphone. The picture quality is of course much superior to a smart phone as well.I have a sigma fixed focus lens I used on my eos 350 and it revitalise my old camera on portrait work so wondered how it would work on the M100. The results are astounding, sharp and brilliant. I was hoping the F2/22mm canon pancake lens would be up to the job of the sigma but sadly it’s not in the same league, not even remotely. The 22mm pancake lens is good and makes the camera more mobile and great in low light but for out and out quality it’s just not there. Real shame especially for over £200. The low light means increased iso which leads to grainy pictures when used in large prints even in the highest possible variations of sizing. The picture of my son attached was on a full manual mode f4/ 400iso exposer slightly reduced due to the brighter day, apart from that the settings are to match my sigma fixed 35mm wide angle lens and it’s mile apart...don’t get me wrong it’s a super canon pancake lens. I have added a small lens hood and uv filter which has made improvements in the right direction ?

I purchased the EOS M on a whim, I was looking at going abroad and travelling light, so that's why I purchased the camera that came with a 18-55mm lens. But after using the camera, I love it, there is certainly something about it and I use it alot more than I do my Canon EOS 60D, although it won't replace my 60D, it's a fantastic camera for the type of photography that I do, mainly landscapes and a bit of architecture.I was looking for another lens for the EOS M, as I have been using my other lenses on it with the Canon adaptor, and thought I would buy a prime, I did have a 50mm f1.8 lens for my 60D, but I rarely used it, as I thought the 50mm on a crop is a bit too much at times,so I decided to sell that and purchase this lens, I have to say, I am very very impressed, the 22mm is alot more of a manageable than a 50mm, it's such a great lens, has great bokeh and the picture is sharp.Other reviews have mentioned that there is a bit of chromatic abberation on this lens, but I've not had the chance to thoroughly test this yet to see the chromatic abberation, but at the end of the day, if you use lightroom or camera raw, this can be easily fixed. If you have a EOS M, I highly recommend this lens. I bought the EOS M with no intention to buy any other lenses, now I have this, the 18-55mm and the wide angle 11-22mm lens, all which I can recommend for this fantastic, but underrated camera.

I'm a big fan of prime (non zoom) lens and so when I got my Canon Eos M the first thing I did was order this lens. As a general rule I've found the EFS-m lens are really well made, fantastic build quality and the 22mm is no exception. Focus is fast and the lens is well able to cope with a huge range of shooting environments through to landscapes etc. Images come out crisp and sharp which is great with a warm and full colour. The lens is become my carry around lens and it pritty much live on the camera at all times. The only two criticisms I have of it are more criticisms of the camera than the lens, I find when used for video it "hunts'a lot with this lens and if used manually in video mode the amount of rotations to go from in focus to out of focus etc is too much for good quality results. Having said that for most video occasions where I need that I prefer other lenses! The other slight frustration i have is when the camera shuts off it retracts the lens within itself and shuts the aperture done to protect the lens. This is great buts whats not so great is when the camera turns on accidentally and tries to force the lens back out in the bag. Not a big issue but makes me worry it's damaging itself but pushing against the case. All in all it's the best lens for the Eos M so get it you won't be disappointed!

Had this lens for a couple of weeks but only recently been able to look at the images taken with it.I have to say, I'm very impressed. The lens itself is very small and light, although doesn't feel like a toy (unlike, for example, the Canon 50mm f1.8). It has a short minimum focusing distance (took a surprisingly good shot of a fly yesterday which you could almost mistake for being taken with a macro lens, as there was a very decent amount of detail), combined with a wide f2 aperture which means it's great for low light shooting.Yes, the focusing speed isn't the best but it's horses for courses...if you want lightning fast focusing, spend more than two hundred (or use a DSLR instead)! The images produced by this on an EOS M are excellent...very sharp. Wide open, it does seem to vignette a little but I actually quite like that; also, the colours seem muted in some shots, although that could be because I have the camera set to 'NEUTRAL'...this can always be adjusted in post anyway so it's really not a problem.Overall, I'd highly recommend this lens to anybody who's just bought an EOS M.

I purchased an EOS M with the 18-55mm Kit lens, then bought this as a lightweight carry around. It produces nice sharp images, even wide open (and it is fast at 2.0) with nice Bokeh. Auto-focus, for me has been fine. I've seen some reviews saying the auto focus is unusable but I have had no problems-I'm not going to pretend its hugely quick and I don't shoot sports, but its fine. I guess it depends on your expectations, I am getting great images and that's what matters. This is the lens I keep on the camera all of the time now, don't get me wrong the 18-55mm is a great kit lens, but the 2.0 maximum aperture just makes this a really versatile partner for me.I've also bought a Lowepro Dashpoint 20 bag which fits the EOS M and 22mm Lens perfectly, and makes this a truly portable pairing as a compact walk around camera. My cumbersome DSLR takes great pictures, but so does this-the difference is I can take this combo everywhere with me.

This lens is amazing in low light. The photo's are almost like daylight when in reality, it can be nearing dark (Great if flash is not an option). Another benefit is it shrinks the EOS-M to a similar size of a medium compact point and shoot making it more likely you will have your camera with you. Picture quality is excellent and the STM focussing is very fast (even on the EOS-M) and all but silent. A very well made product and I'm enjoying playing with the almost retro experience of a short prime lens. If you have an EOS-M, you need one of these!

This is the EOS M version of the Canon EF 40mm F2.8 STM and shares with that lens, excellent optical properties and relative dimensions. It gives roughly the same image size on the EOS M, as does the EF 40mm on the EOS 5D MKIIIThe results are stunning, giving razor sharp results with the EOS M.Thoroughly recommended, with it's small compact size, as a superb discrete sized daily lens, good for situations, where a full sizeDSLR kit would be indiscrete or likely to attract unwelcome attention.

This fast (f/2.0) lens generates absolutely excellent image, in terms of sharpness, contrast, and colour. It's short distance (15 cm) really works when shooting still object like food on the table. As many people mentiones at various review sites, its autofocus is very very slow. So, personallyI would not recommend it to shoot moving subject like children. It's not for fast shooters either. But I do recommend this for landscape or still object. Perfect companion when travelling too.

I spent a day walking around the Tower and Trafalgar Sq with just this on my M50. What a great little lens. Perfect lens, perfect day. This lens is a fixed focus lens. To us oldies it's the equivalent of a simple snapshot camera. Because of the thinness of the lens, the camera fits easily into a jacket pocket. The quality of the optical glass is excellent. Remember: its fixed focus so no zoom but due to the quality that's no loss as you can just blow up and crop the image.

That’s the type of lens that you should have with you always. It’s small, light weighed and very versatile. You could use for both landscape and portrait photos and it’s very bright, which makes easier to take pictures in low light conditions. If you are in a VERY silent place and wants to record videos the autofocus noise could be a problem, it’s not very loud but you can hear it, in my tests the noise was okay and didn’t affect the final product. Rightly recommend!

I have pondered on buying a new lens for a while due to the cost, but after watching many youtube videos on the Cannon m50 I bite the bullett and went for it. I wasnt disapointed it works amazingly well on low light, gives amazing depth of field and the focus is great. The motor is a little nosey but it doenst affect anything. Wish I would have bought it ages ago xxx

This lens is almost a reason to get an EOS M series camera beside the possibility to adapt EF lenses. It is as sharp as Fuji and Sony's equivalent while being much cheaper and lighter. It's basically a no brained. The only downside is vignetting at wide open at F/2 which can easily be corrected in camera or in post or and it goes away if you stop down to F/4.

This Lens is incredibly fast and for the money represents outstanding value. Its great for street work and general photography. What I like about this lens is that it teaches you how to compose and not rely on zooming. I got mine from PC world for £99. I think this native lens should be considered when considering an adaptor and the 50mm EF lens.

This lens is one of the best things I have brought in a long time. Brought for my canon M. It's small and lightweight but feels robust. It takes amazing pictures and the background blur is a really nice effect. You can get loads into the frame without having to stand really far back. Great product and reasonable price, quick delivery.

Taken some fantastic shots with this lens. Indoor photography looks a lot less shaky now that I can use shorter shutter times. Auto focusing is as good as the other EF-M lenses. Some darkened corners when shooting at f/2 but the inbuilt lens correction takes care of this. This will probably be my main lens on this camera now.
