Yet another Camelbak bottle in the collection , too many water bottles ?? does not compute . When it comes to Camelbak products especially there bottles you cant get better no matter what others claim . I have used many brands that give claims of superior cooling but for a squeezable cycling bottle you can look no further . With the greatest curiosity and fascination with what appears to be reversed alien technology I have looked at these bottles , especially this Race Edition , under magnification to try and figure out how they do the labelling . It appears to be done on the inside of the bottle which leaves me dumb founded and a tad angry . Not to mention the ship in a bottle technique on how the insulation is installed .No other bottles , again the soft kind ,has this much engineering . This bottle is made to rock literally and you will always be able to read who made it . But do they work in my experience , yes indeed . Leave them in the fridge before a ride and you will be quenched for at least a couple hours or more . Your mileage may vary due to geographical locations and time of day . In Death Valley you may need the Big Chill or two , and a bit of luck . Is this the end of our saga , not really . Now the things or thing that bothers me . I love the cow orfice sealed tight like diaphragm for keeping water in but it doesn't prevent sand and other toxins from accumulating in the mouth piece . Go back to the Aliens and figure out an ingenius way of caping the mouth piece off while still maintaining ease of use . Your exceptional engineering skills have got you this far and five stars , and still and willingly all of my money ..

You no longer have to pull up on the spout with your teeth to open the bottle or push against your teeth with the spout to close the bottle. The spout works amazingly well and would deserve 5 stars on it's own except for the poor insulating design. The insulated part is just OK. If you don't have far to ride and you fill it partially with ice it works just alright to keep fluids cool but not exceptionally cool which was honestly my expectation. If you want an insulated bottle that does really well see my review about the stainless steel insulated bottle by Steady Doggie Sports & Outdoors. You can also buy an insulated stainless steel Bubba drinking bottle from Wal-Mart which is exceptional inthat it will keep your fluids Ice cold for 24 hrs or more depending on how you pack your ice and fluids in it. My guess for the Camelbak water bottle after my last 50 miler on the bike is that it keeps the water cool but not cold for about 30-45 minutes or so after filling it. If you carry 2 bottles and really pack the second with 1/2 ice it should still be cold by the time you get to it after finishing off the first bottle. My goal is to go through two bottles an hr while riding which I can usually do here in the Oklahoma City, Oklahoma heat. Remember, its about the journey and not the destination.

I've had this bottle for a couple months and I really like it. My bike rides haven't been as long as they used to, but after 45 minutes in the South Florida heat there's still plenty of ice and the water is obviously ice cold. The main reason I got this bottle was because my regular water bottles would sweat condensation that dripped down my bottom bracket and splash on my chainring. This bottle doesn't sweat on the outside.I only put ice cubes and water in the bottle, and after a ride I rinse it out and let it air dry. I've never seen any mold, mildew, or any nasty growth on the spout or anywhere else. I use the bottle 3 times a week,so maybe the fact that it completely dries between uses is the reason I've had no trouble. It takes a little force to get the water to flow, but not enough for me to mind. You can squeeze the bottle to force water out, you can suck on the spout, or you can do both. To have a bottle that doesn't sweat AND keeps ice from melting for at least 45 minutes, it's worth having to exert a very little effort to get a drink. Plus, since the outside of the bottle isn't dripping wet, it takes less effort to hold it without it slipping out of my hand as I ride. The bottle fits snugly in my regular water bottle cage.

This review is for the new model of the CamelBak Podium Big Chill 25 oz. water bottle. I had bought last year's model a little over a year ago. Relative to the competition, these bottles seem a little pricey. However, they are definitely superior to the competition and this year's design is even better! The bottle itself is essentially the same. So like it's predecessor, it keeps liquids cooler much longer than the non-insulated models and eliminates most of the normal condensation. It's durable (I've dropped mine many times, even on concrete with no cracks or leaks) But what really sets this year's model apart is the screw on top and nozzle. Let me be clear, there's nothing wrong with the older design. It seals and doesn't leak; it dispenses liquid smoothly and virtually effortlessly; it's a great design. The new design, however, is dramatically better. The nozzle itself is larger in diameter. The seal is even more secure, and it dispenses a greater volume of liquid with even less effort. Even the material used seems superior.FYI, there's nothing wrong with my old CamelBak. I bought this new one to replace my second bottle that was another brand and design. I'll stick with CamelBak from hereon.

This is my second Podium Chill bottle, I first got the bigger size which is the 25oz "Big Chill". I got the little one just for convenience of size, its easier to throw in my gym bag and just overall a little smaller if I wanna go on a long walk and don't wanna carry the big one with me. I LOVE these bottles!! They don't get condensation on the outside because of the insulation layer, the lock on the mouth piece works great and doesn't leak or drip at all, they have great hand feel and squeeze easy for maximum water gulpage :) I can't say enough about these guys, they are also coming out with more colors soon so I think these two won't be my last, what can I say, I'm a bit of a water bottle snob!PS Amazon is a little cheaper than Target for these guys which is the only other place I've seen them. Oh and one more thing that's kind of important, if you are comparing these to say a Swell bottle when it comes to keeping water cold, these do not keep water as cold as those bottles. They keep it colder than a regular non insulated plastic camelbak but overall I do wish that my water stayed a bit more cold in these. That's my only, very small, complaint. Otherwise, in love!

Bought this for my wife. She wanted a water bottle that was squeezable and helps keep her drinks cold. This product meets and exceeds those requirements. Be warned though it only insulates about as well as a styrofoam cup. This isn't a thermos. It's a water bottle.I saw some reviews complaining about a plastic packaging tab sandwiched between the mouthpiece and lid. Knowing my wife, she'd get fed up pretty quick trying to remove it. I decided it's best to figure out how to remove it myself before she goes to use it.I've uploaded 2 images showing the best way I've found to guarantee complete removal of the tab. First, align the tab to the mouthpiece as shown in the attached image while pulling down on the tab. This exposes the center of the tab. Use a razor blade to cut a slit through the exposed plastic ring. Be careful not to cut yourself.Looking at my second image, it looks like the tab can be removed just by pulling on it until the plastic ring breaks. However, if you flip the handle part of the tab 180° and pull backwards then the handle could break off and leave the ring portion nearly impossible to remove.Gee wiz... Just do away with the tab, Camelbak!

I like this bottle, and really wish I could love it. The nozzle is fantastic; being able to just squeeze the bottle when I need water without having to unlock the cap, drink, re-lock the cap before putting it back, is wonderful For that feature alone, I will continue to use these (I have 4)Unfortunately, the Insulation is only so-so. I live in the deep south, so temperatures do get high, but this is really bad insulation. I fill the bottle about 1/3 of the way with ice, and the rest with cold water out of the fridge, and in an hour, the ice is completely melted. Initially, I chalked this up to the hot air that is pulled into the bottle after you drink, but when I added the second bottle that remained unused and completely locked for the first hour, and the ice was gone, it was clear that the insulation on this bottle was just sub-par.As I said, though, I will continue to use these. The perfect nozzle, the perfect size, easy to clean (to those complaining about mold, the nozzle comes completely off and you clean under it when you're done with it) all make it worth keeping; I just have to fill it half full of ice if I want to have a cold drink past the hour mark.

I've been using this as my default water bottle on rides and I love the twist spout because it never fails. With the other type of spout that you pull up to activate I have found that when the bottle gets older that type of spout becomes loose and tends to close on it's own, which is problematic enough that it prompts me to replace my bottles. This twist spout been a lot more reliable for me. As far as the insulation, for me in super hot South Florida it keeps liquids cool for about 2 hours. That's typically enough for most of my rides, and if not I pair it with a metal insulated bottle which will keep liquids cool for longer, but is not as convenient to drink from while riding because of course you can't squeeze the bottle. So yeah, thumbs up for this product. The main plus for me is the spout. If I had to list a negative it would be that the spout requires both hands to active, while the pull type spouts can be activated with one hand or using your mouth to bite and pull on the spout. This is not a big deal for me since I open the 'flow' before going on a ride, but it might be for you. Keep riding!

I looked this over carefully and compared it to the 21 oz. (which I have and love). Some people complained about the jet valve being hard to work. I don't know why that would be - it's the identical same lid. So I gave it a try and am very pleased with it. It is NOT any harder to work than my 21 oz. bottle. I can not say enough good about the Jet Valve. The insulation isn't enough to keep your drinks icy for all day probably, but that's your trade-off in getting a flexible, squeezable water bottle vs. a vacuum sealed metal one. For cycling, this wins hands-down.It's a bit long for putting in the vertical cage on my bike frame, so this one sits on the diagonal part of the frame and my 21 oz.is the maximum length I can maneuver out of the vertical cage (especially when riding). The plastic retail hanger was a cinch to get off, just by removing the nozzle (push off with both thumbs), then pulling the plastic away from center enough to snip it with scissors and pull it around until it's free.I love this water bottle and hope they never stop making it. There's nothing that can be improved on it.

I bought this to replace a 3-year old one that developed mold inside the mouthpiece. I see that there have been some design improvements. (In the photos the new one is on the left.) There are deeper finger grooves for a better grip when you pull it from the bottle holder while you're biking. The cap has a smoother rounded edge so it's a teeny bit more comfortable (though the old one never bothered me this way) pushing it down back into the bottle holder. The mouthpiece has a bigger hole. Bikers like me appreciate this. It makes for a bigger flow for when you want a quick squirt into your mouth when you're busy pedaling on the road. Regarding the mold, my habit has been to hand wash the old bottle, shake off excess water, and put it in the refrigerator_empty_ to dry and keep mold free. That's how it stayed clean the last 3 years. This past month I absent mindedly left it in the dishwasher to dry. And that's how the mold developed. I'll have to be careful with the new one, and be more mindful. I consider this a minor flaw that doesn't detract from its excellent functional features.

I'm a frequent reviewer here but I was really compelled to write a review for the CamelBak Podium Big Chill. I'll be writing it from the perspective of a cyclist. First of all it sits in my water cage perfectly. Toward the top of the bottle there are little indentions to make gripping and squeezing the bottle easier. This is perfect for getting it out of the cage during a ride and taking a drink. I originally purchased the 21oz version until I found out that they made it in the 25oz. The color scheme matches my bike to a T. When squeezing the bottle the water does shoot out from the top with a lot of force. Nothing to cause an injury, but this is truly a sports water bottle. This isn't a sippy cup. This is not as cool as the vacuum sealed 12 hours bottles from Thermos. However, this is a different type of bottle so it's not fair to compare against those. I use the Thermos for when I'm at work all day or may at the gym. This one is excellent for riding or for working out. I'll be purchasing more in the future.

I bought this bottle thinking maybe I would find a bottle that kept water cold. I HAVE found it. I have other insulated bottles but they always let the water get warm before I finished riding. I bought two of these. I filled one full of ice and then water and the other I filled about 75% with ice then water. I went on a 3 hour ride in a 92 deg sunny day. I noticed that my water was staying cold. I'm riding a trike so my bottles are in front of me in direct sun and wind. The rear bottle which was full of ice still had ice left in it, and very cold water still in it. The front facing bottle which catches all the wind and heat didn't have any ice left but the water still had some chill left, not ice cold but still better that the usually warm water. I'm very pleased with the bottles keeping the water cold. The mouth piece is also very good, keeps splashes from happening and quickly fills your mouth with water when you squeeze it. I would buy more of these great bottles.

I can't remember the last time I had such unreserved praise for a product. It has two seals, either of which is enough to prevent any leaks. Together, you can feel safe filling it with juice and leaving it on top of your most expensive shirt, suit, or dress. When you want to drink, WOW, the huge mouthpiece blows water out like a fire hydrant. One word of caution: if you've never bought an insulated bike/workout bottle, the insulation is practically nonexistent by modern standards (i.e. vacuum-insulated steel). I knew what to expect on this purchase, but I was very disappointed in a past purchase once. Don't count on the insulation doing anything for you. That's the nature of the beast these days, since the best insulation requires a rigid, steel container (which obviously wouldn't snug into a normal bike bottle holder). Maybe one day they'll make bike water bottles insulated with aerogels, but that would make it a $50-100 bottle, I think...

Excellent. Far better than the Polar Insulated. The latter is very big, bulky, and weighted funny when full. This one feels almost like a normal, high-capacity bottle, but with some insulated benefits. (NB it doesn't seem to insulate quite as well as the Polar, perhaps for the very reasons I prefer it.)I don't love the nozzle as much as others. It shoots water out like a jet when you squeeze the bottle, which is fun. There's a plastic sphincter that only opens with pressure. This allows you to drink without having the nozzle in your mouth. It also allows you to keep the nozzle open without spilling, since the water won't leak unless there's pressure. But shooting water into my mouth inevitably spills water all over,so the nozzle ends up inside my mouth anyway. And the nozzle-sphincter is very noisy as it sucks air back in after water leaves. No one cares on the bike, of course. But it's a bit conspicuous when used in other settings.

Love these water bottles. We now own three (in different colors, of course, for different kids, lol). They don't leak, and we used them extensively for 2 kids' basketball seasons, now baseball and volleyball. We've had them for about 6 months now and no problems. These are like the Gatorade brand green bottles that sports teams squirt into their mouths on the sidelines at football games. But those had really lousy ratings and I don't like buying things that are just so-so products.I won't say these keep the ice very long, so they're not that great at insulating. But they hold a good amount of water and keep it relatively cold. We're in MN, so we don't need that much help keeping things cold.If I were still in TX and needed an outdoor sports bottle for keeping stuff cold, I'd recommend a Thermos brand double-walled vacuum sealed bottle instead. But this is great for them to keep in their sports bags for indoor sports.
