I write this review having now owned a Cadac Carri Chef Deluxe for 5 years.Much has been said about it in other Amazon reviews, so I'll try not to emulate those & just give my overall impressions.THE GOOD (and there is a lot to say here):1) Extremely reliable piezo ignition & burner.2) The burner is variable from as little heat as you need to as much heat as you need.3) Good cooking area.4) More versatile than anything else out there. Grills, fries, boils, barbecues & even works as an oven (with the lid). The Skottol (not included in this package at time of writing) even allows for cooking of paellas. stews, savoury rice, tagines and curries (you name it).6) The various parts go together reasonably quickly & without drama.7)Durable... Still in excellent nick after 5 years. Not even a chip to the enamel paintwork. I reckon it would (truly) last a lifetime.8) The grill & frying plate (all-in-one) still have their FULL non-stick coating after 5 years of moderate use.9) The lid doubles as a wind-break for the cooking area (there is a hook inside that sits on the lip of the barbecue).10) The carry pouches for the cooking surfaces are good quality & protect them well. The entire thing (apart from the legs which have their own bag) stows away in its strong carry bag. This measures 50cmsx50cmsx50cms once everything is packed away into it.THE BAD (very few, but...):1) It is flipping heavy at 17kgs all-in (15kgs without Skottol).2) It does take up a lot of boot space if purchased for camping/caravanning.3) Despite using the lid as a windbreak, even moderate wind can quite easily blow the flame out (sorry, but it really can & there are other reviews out there stating this). This may well apply to a lot of barbecues, though.4) The Skottol is a great idea (if you are getting one), although it is only coated with black enamel and care must be taken with the heat in order not to burn food on the bottom of it. As the Skottol is so pricey as an after sale extra, you might well decide to live without it anyway (when considering price, storage space and extra weight). I think I used mine once & was put off by the fact that food so easily burned to it (but bear in mind, I am no Gorden Ramsey)!5) Apart from the barbecue, it doesn't really do anything any better than a domestic cooker can do (although the fact that it is as useful as a domestic cooker could be viewed as a pretty big positive, depending on your circumstances). I used it for caravanning & had a pretty decent cooker in my caravan anyway... Having said that it is nice just to cook outdoors sometimes...When I purchased it I was in no doubt that it would be absolutely the best thing I could purchase to take away with us in my touring caravan, and as concerns quality & versatility I was proven 100% correct... So why am I currently selling it in favour of a much smaller & lighter gas barbecue that has no "bells or whistles"???I'm selling it because I have finally realised that despite it being a great bit of kit, it really is such a faff to set up/clean & put away each time. It is also pretty heavy at 15-17kgs, and as stated it takes up a hell of a lot of boot space...Over my years of camping & caravanning I have slowly come to realise that less really is often more. The current tabletop barbecue I have weighs just 2kgs with lid, takes up a third of the boot space that the cadac does despite having the same cooking area, has as powerful & variable a flame, also has piezo ignition and can be used as an (admittedly smaller) oven with the lid. I can also fry or boil stuff on it with the pans out of my caravan. It really is so much easier as concerns my circumstances (more time on holiday to relax & less dead weight to carry around). Having said that, it will be in the dustbin within 10 years of hard use, whilst anything made by Cadac will just go on & on...Was I to barbecue more often at home, then I might just have kept it just for that...To conclude: This really is a fabulous BBQ, but I did personally make the mistake of not thinking through exactly what I really wanted from a barbecue for my touring caravan holidays (but that certainly is not Cadac's fault). It is immensly durable (it WILL last a lifetime if cared for), and will suit most prospective buyers. My only advice is to think about exactly what you need it for.

Fantastic very happy customers. Thank you.Used it for camping for 8 of us. We bought a silicone utensils pack, so not to scratch the surface. No more pots and pans!It was easy assemble and pack down. Wiped clean with kitchen roll.Quick postage arrived just in time for our trip.Only problem we had was at Go outdoors for the gas. Bought the Cadac regulator. This is not compactible with Campinggas. And the gas cylinders were not big enough. So we purchased a campinggas 904 gas cylinder, and a new campingas regulator. Which will last a lot longer.

Fantastic BBQ, cooks quickly and evenly, it is really easy to clean! It made my first ever meal look like I was a pro chef!! If I had one criticism? there should be instruction on how to load it into the carry bag? and a better way of disconnection of the gas hose when storing otherwise delighted. Finally make sure you shop around!! I got mine from Hamilton Gas Products for £189 inc delivery but there are some chancers on Ebay who will fleece you for anything up to around £300 if you give them the opportunity!

Great product very easy to use, please note that we did need to order a gas pipe and connector as did not realise this did not come with product. Ideal for our caravan used outside BBQ point, used it every day for breakfast and the extra grill pan was ideal for steaks, kebabs etc. Would definitely recommend. Compact when stored away although heavy at 15kg. We also put a little water in bottom tray around the burner as recommend by another caravanner as this stopped flame back and helped with the grease.

Full kit quite heavy to carry but, provided it is packed as it should be (no instructions but video on uTube) then quite compact. Lights first time, easy to assemble, cooking surfaces very easy to clean and use either plastic or wooden tools so as not to damage the cooking surfaces. The one downside is that the on/off marker on the gas knob fell off and was lost. This can only be replaced by purchasing a new knob!!

One of the best bbqs we have ever used, we take it with us when we go away in the caravan, or camping. We even use it at home in the garden. We bought a griddle plate and paella pan also. Great combination very versatile. Can cook alsorts of delicious meals including paella, fajitas, stir frys, burgers, sausages kebabs and many more. Wouldn't be without it now!

Gone are the day of the male oriented outside cooking role, I love this thing! Bought for camping after recommendations, I have since used it for breakfast lunch and dinner at home it's so quick and easy. I bought the paella pan as well which cooked up a fab paella in Dorset recently and am now considering the pizza stone too.Highly recommended piece of kit.

This is an excellent gas bbq. Easy to put together and great to cook on. The lid makes it simple to use as an oven and roast meat as well as make flans. The only downside is washing up due to the size of the cooking pans/surfaces in a normal sink.Nevertheless, an outstanding bbq. Highly recommended.I bought the scottle pan separately.

This BBQ is quite expensive compared to others on the market but you can see why when you build it up.It is a well thought out solid piece of kit and so easy to use. The modular system is a great idea .I bought the bbq and chef pan combination which I thought was a good start to the module collection.Very happy with my purchase.

Easy to clean, easy to dismantle, cover OK for summer use but dismantle In the winter and pack away in the excellent storage bags. Great for caravans too but may be a tad big for storing in most motorhomes. We find the Cadac Grillogas with a reversible grill a better option in our motorhome.

I'd seen some of these in use when out in our motor home and all the owners said they were very pleased. It takes no time to assemble and I have found everything we have cooked so far to be easy with little mess. Cleaning is a doddle. Best gas BBQ I have used ever. Well done CADAC.

It was probably my fault for not looking closely enough at the picture, but I was disappointed when I received the Carri Chef because I thought it came with several different cooking surfaces. So now I have to purchase more, which makes it very expensive

Just replaced my 12 year old Cadac with this model does every thing the old one did, and more, and better. really good value for money. excellent quality. my only gripe is the iffy zips on the bags, two out of three broke within a few weeks.

This is one of the best things I’ve bought for a long time, so easy to set up and put away and also it’s extras it came with, I love my breakfast made of this every weekend we are away in our caravan. Worth every penny.

Easy to assemble, and very easy to operate. Cleaning is easy with non-stick surfaces and all components have their own bags. A bit on the heavy side but having said that it is a sturdy piece of equipment.
