A board game of addition and subtraction for up to four players. You travel around the board with your bus, picking up and dropping off passengers, according to the number on the dice and whether you land on a + or a - symbol. My 4 year old and 2 year old love playing this game - almost every day for a month now! It is really helping my 2 year old with his numbers as well, as we count people on and off the bus, which is great. It says it is for ages 4+ but I think it is quite easy for a 4 year old and would suit younger children. The only downside to the game is that I think the game lasts a little too long - the children often get distracted before the end - it might be better if the number of spaces on the board was reduced by around 20-30% to give a shorter, sweeter game and encourage replay. But overall, I can only recommend this educational game for young children.

This is another fun game from Orchard Toys whose games are always intelligent and colourful. Personally I didn't enjoy it as much as Dinosaur Race or Go Go Dragons but that's only a personal view. Our three year old grandson loves it. The game works with two dice. One moves a bus around the playboard whilst the other decides the number of passengers either getting on or off the bus. The idea is to get your bus to the garage with as many passengers on board as possible. The winner is the bus with the most on when everyone is back in the garage. So it's not a first past the post game. You could finish first but then have to wait for other players to finish. That way it keeps the fun and tension going to the last throw of the dice. This is suitable for any children over about the age of three and helps them with both co-ordination and counting skills.

This is an excellent game. My 4 year old really loves it. Basically you have to count people on and off your bus and make it all the way around the board. Just for a change it isn't the first to reach the finish that wins but the one with the most people on their bus. Because it holds his interest until the very end he is not too upset if he doesn't win. It's great to help with his counting and number recognition on the dice. You have to use two dice so he loves that too and he has the rules better than anyone else so he is great at telling everyone what it is they need to do.In fact it was so good that on playing with his grandparents they immediately went and bought it to take to their othergrandchildren at a visit the following week!Highly Recommended

My bus obsessed daughter wanted this for her third birthday. She likes the bus shaped cards, along with putting on and taking off the people. It's a little old for her, but I've been able to modify the game play slightly for her to enjoy it. It's a nice way to introduce the concepts of addition and subtraction in a fun way. The only part of this game I find a bit odd is the game board itself. It's a series of pieces you put together like a puzzle. While it's an interesting idea (and certainly fun for some children), I like being able to unfold a board a go. It's a small concern that takes nothing away from the play value of this game. I'm looking forward to giving more of Orchard Toys'games a try.

We really like the Orchard Board Games (inexpensive & not long winded) and to date we haven't bought any that the kids don't enjoy. This is a current favorite with my 3 year old but my 6 year old will also play happily if we play as a family. We added an extra dimension to the game as my little one initially became upset when passengers had to "get off" her bus. We decided to tell a quick story about where the passengers were going or what they were doing when they jumped off the bus. This has solved the problem of sad faces and the kids enjoy making up tall tales for their passengers. It doesn't go on for ever so won't try a small ones patience of attention span. A winner in our house.

My 5 year old nephew is bus mad, seriously ! He is also at the age now where maths is an area that he is gradually learning more and more so whilst the educational element of adding and subtracting is at the heart of this game, the bus theme adds an extra element of enjoyment for him.The board slots together easily, there are four pieces. Up to four players can play, choosing a bus card with the designated bus piece. Roll the dice and depending on whether you land on a "plus" or "minus" square you then spin the arrow and whichever number it lands on you then add or subtract that amount of passengers from your bus.Very simple, straightforward fun !

I must disagree with the negative review of this game. My bright 9 year old daughter loves playing it with me and her Dad. We all have our favourite passengers to pick for our bus, and my husband takes great delight winding us up by trying to pick all the young female passengers! Sounds a bit silly, but it makes for great fun playing. At 9, she isn't learning anything educational, but playing games together as a family has its own worth. I can imagine younger children being helped with their maths by playing this game. I'm buying it for my 5 year old niece so that's a recommendation in itself.

I bought this game for my 5 year old daughter for Christmas and she enjoys playing it. The 'bus passenger' cards are well illustrated and we like to give them names of people we know to make the game more fun.The basis of the game is to go around the board picking up passengers and hoping you avoid the - slots or you have to take people off. When this happens we make a joke that we are bad drivers! The only downside is that sometimes you cannot pick up anymore passengers if you keep missing all the minus sqaures. Still this does not hinder our fun and I highly recommend the game : )

My expectations for Orchard Toys were probably raised too high by all the excellent reviews but, while their games are good, they're not as exciting & inspiring as I expected. This is one of the best as it is helping my 3 year old with her addition & subtraction skills. To be fair, she loves all their games, it's just her highly demanding mummy who was expecting more! One real drawback is that it is quite difficult to slot the buses into their stands and my daughter loves pulling them out so I quickly got fed up of putting them back in!

Great fun. Attractive and robust like all Orchard toys. My only complaint is that the buses are going the wrong way compared to the board:- an irritating design slip. The game needs experimenting with different rules but there is loads to talk about as you play. Plus and minus become second nature. You can start with two buses if you are playng with one other person, to give more scope. As with any dice game you can have a long run with an empty or a full bus, but our three year old plays it very eagerly and accepts the slack spells.

Our son got this game for is 4th birthday and he has loved playing it ever since, with increasing level of counting/maths. No one maths game is going to interest a child from early counting to more advanced additon and subtraction. But the beauty of this game is that you can adapt the rules to the level of the children involved. We started using it for basic counting, and now one year later, it really helps with addition and subtraction. And I expect it will retain interest and educational value for some time to come.R

Fun for all ages. You take turns going around the board, getting passengers on and off, and the person who wins isn't the first one back, its the one back with the more passengers. Great for math skills, adding and subtracting. It can be a little confusing to play, you throw two dice, one for your move and the other for the amount of passengers on or off. Alot to think about in each go, can frustrate a young player. Thats why I gave 4 instead of 5 stars.

We have an 11 year old version of this game which my 5 year old is currently crazy about. This is one of a number of orchard games we bought when our 15 year old was in preschool. All are still in excellent condition despite often heavy use by our 3 sons at different times. What my youngest likes most about this game is choosing the passengers to get on/off the bus. I suppose it really puts them in the driving seat!

Great game. My twins are 4 years old and it was perfect for their age group. Helps them to learn the plus and minus signs and teaches them the concept of adding and subtracting. It takes a bit long to move your bus around the full board so at times my kids were losing concentration, but apart from that it’s a great game. My sons loved the different bus characters and also played with them separately

I bought this for my daughter as she loves buses. It is nicely presented and introduced her to the plus and minus signs, and helped her learn what they mean - much better than learning from a book or TV as it is a physical representation, it makes it real. The box says age 4+ but it wasn't too difficult for my 3 year old, I think the earlier you introduce maths in fun ways, the better!
