Styling Heads have always been popular with little girls and my eight year old daughter is no exception. We have had a few over the years and they have improved vastly since I was given my first such toy in the 1970’s. I have to admit that I had never heard of the toy company, Buki, which I have since discovered are a French company who pride themselves on innovative toys which aim to educate.So, what do you get with this toy? There is the styling head; wide eyed, she reminded me in look of the new style of Disney princesses in terms of facial features. One of the major issues with any styling head is the fact that many of them ‘wobble’ or fall over while children are playing with them.This head has a clamp, which means that the head stays firmly in one place and is a really good feature. You can loosen the clamp slightly and turn the head, so you can either have the face, or hair, or indeed sides, facing you. My daughter was soon playing happily at hairdressers, asking her ‘customer’ to look one way or another!There are fifteen hair accessories included, which are not the usual flimsy toy plastic clips, but can actually be used by your child to replicate any hairstyles she does on the styling head. I thought this, again, was a very nice touch. The hair on the styling doll is also very realistic and nice to play with. Also, there are styling sheets of different hairstyles, plus codes so your child can watch the hair tutorials online.When I first saw this toy, it looked to me as though it might not appeal to my daughter, who has various styling heads; including a My Little Pony one which she loves and an Elsa one which she liked on first sight, but which is particularly flimsy. However, despite the fact that this has no such character behind it, whether Frozen or Barbie, this offers the best play value of any styling head I have come across. The fact your child can use the hair accessories to replicate styles on themselves, or their friends, the way the head clamps to a table top and remains upright, the quality of the hair and accessories are all excellent. This deserves a five star rating and is my personal favourite of such toys that I have come across. Suitable for 7+ it is a good quality toy with great play value.

I chose this for our nine year old granddaughter. As she has lovely long hair herself, we are always interested in trying new styles. We have used Topsy tail loops such as are included in this set, and we are excited to learn about more possibilities. I used to shy away from toys such as this, by being slightly freaked out by seeing a head with no body sitting around. 'Tressy' with the hair that came out of her head was as far as I went in the sixties. However I know these are really popular, and our little girl loves playing with it. The doll's face is reassuringly friendly and cartoon like, with over her large green eyes and lovely smile.It is the most impressive book that carefully shows how to create 30 styles with the lustrous,copper brown, closely rooted hair of Buki's model, that is such a real help. With easy to follow pictures, 30 lessons, but bearing in mind that this toy comes from France, so the text is in several languages, with French first, then English as the 2nd line from the top.The model arrives with her hair in a loose pony tail ready for her makeovers. There is a useful clamp in the big presentation box, for holding her steady while she has her hair done. In another bag there is a collection of hairdressing extras, a black and white spotty silk square, a flexible (wired) bandana, two loops - tools for creating pony tails, two soft hairbands, a super turquoise hair brush, which is very good quality and well made. There are also three coloured velcro mesh squares, a foam and plastic bun frame, a yellow comb, a round, brown bun shaper, a silver braided hair band on elastic, and a pack of bobby pins. All these things could equally well be used by a girl.It would have been better if the collection of accoutrements had been given a more lasting and stylish case, rather than a plastic bag. A make up purse would be good as such. Also I was annoyed by the vast amount of cardboard that the box contained, a whole bin full for recycling or burning. Otherwise it's a terrific teaching aid for a girl interested in making the most of her own hair, and learning braiding, weaving, styling... Just having fun.

This is a fantastic toy for letting children learn how to create new hairstyles.The dolls head is very pretty without being 'made up' as they often are. Her hair is thick and feels nice, not too plastic-ky. It's medium long. I find it slightly too thick as it made putting it into a ponytail tricky however I have really fine hair so it may just be the contrast that I found tricky.The book it comes with shows step by step how to create a large range of hairstyles. It has pictures which is handy as the instructions are in a range of languages which doesn't make it the easiest to read as you are styling. It has a qr code on each page with a link to a youtube video which could be handy - I didn't try them out.The doll head doesn't have a shoulder base as most dolls styling heads do.Instead it has a clamp with adjustable tilt to allow easy styling. I didn't want to use the clamp so tried styling without it. I didn't find the head very stable without the clamp which was a shame.The head comes with a brush, comb, 2 styling tools to allow you to pull hair through when you have a ponytail to create lovely styles. It comes with velcro patches to allow you to easily section off hair. It has grips, a plaiting tool which I think is an amazing idea for children just learning to plait. It has a head scarf, plaited head band and material twist tie.This is different to other dolls heads I've had in that it is geared more towards actual hairstyles rather than using clips, bands, bows and clip in extensions to create 'pretty' hair.The only downside for me was how unstable it is if you don't use the clamp on a table edge. It doesn't come with storage for the resources either which is a shame but could easily be overcome.

My girls have wanted a hairstyling head for ages and there have been Barbie and Elsa Frozen heads amongst others that have been objects that my girls have wanted, but which I avoided for a number of reasons, firstly, I thought that they looked quite tacky and also I wasn't convinced that they would really get that much play time out of one.This head doesn't have that Barbie doll look, but more of a Disney princess, with oversized eyes a tiny nose and soft red-brown hair. She is pretty, but doesn't look "dolled-up", if you'll excuse the pun!There are a nice range of different hair styling equipment, allowing you to make a wide range of hairstyles - and there are more ideas than I could have thought of,with 30 in the instructions, which give clear pictures of how to create the differemt styles. Buki's hais is very responsive- these kinds of dolls had terrible hair when I was little, which didn't seem to want to move in differerent directions, but technology has clearly moved on a pace.Both my girls, aged 7 and 9 love this and my elder daughter particularly likes using it, because using the clamp with Buki's head makes it a lot easier to learn than on her sister, who keeps moving her head or wanting to get up and do something else, rather than being a hair model!

The Buki Professional Studio Hair arrived in a fairly largish packaged box, before you get to the hair studio this really makes you feel this is a quality item. On opening seeing what is included in the set really gives a great sensation of what is on offer here, its a really very good set for trying out various hairstyles and practice. The head has a friendly approachable style to it and lends itself to children in a very pleasant manner.Enclosed is a book that offers a number of suggestions to try out and this allows first hand practice to try out a wide range of hairstyles together with good instructions and ideas how to create those different and interesting and intricate [at first]hairstyles.Our 7 year old grand daughter was highly absorbed in the various styles that could practiced and brought to reality on this head. Many hours of entertainment in the months to come with this toy. Some very good made styles can be made up on this doll head from the book and video, with hours to occupy oneself.This would certainly make a wonderful present to any 7+ year old girl. I certainly class this as worthwhile present and anyone considering the purchase will find great reward if giving this as a present to a young girl, worth every penny in my opinion.

I must admit to being a bit freaked out when first seeing the box for this due to the huge eyes this model has, but aside from that the Buki Professional Studio Hair set is a really good hair designing toy.The box comes with the head, a brush, a clamp to keep hair in place and a huge number of accessories and styling tools, as well as a useful book of styles.The book gives you a good overview of how to create some cool hair styles and is pretty easy to follow, even for beginners, In addition, you can download further style tip videos via a qr code that you can use on your phone. I was concerned that the lightweight head would be difficult to keep steady, with other models coming on a purpose built table,but the stand that comes with it is fairly good and the clamp that is used to hold hair in place really helps here.The other nice thing about this set is that girls can use the accessories on themselves, with most being decent enough quality to stand up to daily wear. That, alongside what looks like far better quality hair than previous sets we've had (which have since been thrown away due to excessive matting) and the useful ideas from the book and videos has made this an excellent toy and will make a great present.

The head for this hair styling kit may have something of a cartoon appearance, but it is well-made with a fixing clamp to prevent movement whilst styling hair. The 'hair' may be imitation but it is of real-feel material, it is firmly attached to the model’s scalp, and it is about 12 inches long which allows for many different styles. Accompanying instruction sheets contain illustrated step-by-step guidance on how to achieve 30 different styles. For each hairstyle there is a QR code for linking to a helpful video tutorial.Just as it is necessary to turn the head when styling hair, the fixing clamp allows multi positioning, and of course fixing the head allows 2-handed styling as for real.In addition to the model head and clamp there is a brush, a comb, 1 small and 1 large styling tool, a plaiting tool, 1 wide and 1 braided headband, a scarf, 3 Velcro headbands, plus 8 flat grips, 8 bun grips, a bun ring, and various elastic bands. These are bona-fide products rather than just toys, and after some practising users may style their own hair! This Buki kit is more than a toy – and it truly deserves a 5-star rating.

I confess, I had a 'Girls World' as a child and loved it - so I as delights to see a similar type toy like this Buki Professional Studio Hair for my daughter.Despite the slightly odd facial features, this styling head is great fun. It clamps on to the edge of a table/desk really securely to enable the user to work to create some fabulous hairstyles.My daughter (with the aid of the great range of accessories included and the tutorials available via QR codes) was able to soon be creating plaits, buns, intricate twists and ponytails by herself with no problem at all.Whilst the hair isn't real, it's a great imitation. It really allows for a great deal of hair experimentation and play. It seems tough enough,and so far we haven't had any major issues with tangles.Highly recommended for a budding hair stylist :).

My 8-year-old daughter and I had a good play with this head today. The hair is nice and smooth, not tangly, and the handy clamp meant it was mounted onto the dining table so you can brush and style the hair without the head moving about. The accessories included were proper hair accessories, and we ended up using a couple of them on my daughter's hair.The QR codes included were really helpful, launching videos on my daughter's iPad so she can watch and learn the different hairstyles by herself. She enjoyed playing with the hair, and for the moment she is quite keen to carry on playing with it tomorrow. Not sure when the novelty will wear off,but it does make a great present (it comes in a huge box).

This is a great quality styling head with good accessories. The hair is long and easy to style. The face is a bit more pixie like than human and applying make up is possible on the face too as it's easy to wipe off with baby wipes. The clamp holding the head to a table top is great leaving two hands free to plait and style the hair. We have also managed to successfully wash and dry out the hair without water logging the main section.

The doll is a bit odd with massive eyes and not much of a nose. Once you get past this it's a decent quality styling doll. You also get accessories and QR codes that link to specific hair tutorials. The longevity of the dolls hair is yet to be discovered. I like the fact that you can use the clamp to fasten it to a desk or table leaving two hands for styling. I also like the light brown colour hair.

This is a great product. I bought it for my Niece and she absolutely loves it! The quality of the hair is great and the clamp means the head doesn't move when you're brushing and styling. Wouldn't hesitate to recommend!

This is very very good as the plastic ones with no clamp just keep tipping over bought for me 5 year old and she loves sitting at the table doing her hair hair is better then other doll heads more life like

Excellent quality doll, very sturdy. Well worth the money. It’s great that the accessories can be used on my daughter aswell as the doll. Lovely thick long auburn hair. Would highly recommend

Nice product for older child wanting to learn different hair styles.But, if it gets tangled it's very difficult to untangle as mix of synthetic and real hair.
