Had the previous version of the Buffalo which after 4 years plus of near daily use became temperamental; opted for another due to the reliability and fact I had dropped the previous version a number of times and had no issue using it afterward. This version is slightly bigger and had a metallic shine to the finish. Easy to carry in the hand and will just about slot into a trouser pocket for when I'm moving rooms at work. The product feels sturdy and I like the fact the usb is built in meaning one less part to leave lying around. However, should the cable break then I don't think replacing it would be as straightforward a a standard USB cable. That said, this is versatile and easy to use.

Fast, small and seemingly bullet proof. Perfect for plug and go, or for backup and surprisingly quick for the price. Arrived quickly and worked perfectly straight out of the box. Decided on day 1 whether you want to encrypt your data or not as you must delete everything to change from or to encrypted once the drive is in use. Other than that (and thats not an issue you just need to know how it'll be used) its exactly what you'd want - loads of storage, very good speeds (copy, read etc), and you can safely encrypt everything and yes you can throw it into a rucksack and it'll still be working when you return from your travels.

Excellent drive, I wanted to have a robust portable drive. Plugged into a Linux workstation, not a single glitch. I've been doing some hard copying using "rsync", because of the indexing features that can cause a simple copy/paste in the KDE environment to stall. This however has nothing to do with the performance of the drive, which is excellent. No hassle. Made in UK. I do not use the encryption, but I don't need it, so can't comment on that.

Fabulous. 1 terabyte of storage in a sturdy compact and attractive unit. It sits alongside my notebook where I can transfer important documents and photos as back-up against PC malignance. It works with my smart phone and tablet too. It's a "must have" back-up storage facility.... Highly recommended. I also love it's gorgeous red livery.... But that's not important....Is it?

I haven't really thrashed this drive yet, but from what I can tell so far it seems super-quick! I can copy GB of files from my mac to it in - literally - seconds.I was disappointed to find out that you can't encrypt only one partition, that was my original plan, but that in no way should reduce the score of either the drive or the supplier.

Very well made HDD. The drive itself is actually made in Japan. The firm is a professional Japanese firm of data storage manufacturing. If you are tired of an iffy storage, and are prepared to pay slightly (not too much) more, the product is for you. I am actually looking at their other products. Hugely satisfied.

Great for backing up files securely. Absolute must have if you have important files on your computer. Initial back up takes some time, but after that its quick and easy.

Great use, 1TB is enough and it runs good for what it is.Only downside is the timer which closes the device after so long so whatever you are doing can close it down.

Integrated cable and kensington lock point are great. Encryption seems to have very little impact on data throughput / performance.

I love the fact the cable is built in so you don't have to go looking for the cable and its so robust and sturdy feeling

excellent hard drive, fast and tough. Only quibble is the self docking USB connector which is very short
