Purchased specifically for use with a Panasonic Viera TV as a storage facility for recorded programs I found the unit neat and simple to connect with cables supplied. Setup was easy, being almost automatic with little user input required. I was a little concerned to find that the unit had no built-in on/off switch but subsequently discovered that this is fully controlled by the TV and the unit switches off when not actually being accessed either for recording or playback. The quality of recording is first class and the unit runs almost silently during use, the only indication of activity is marked by an almost imperceptible hum and the small LED on the side panel.Appears to be excellent value for the price and was delivered, free of postage, within 48 hours of ordering!.

I recently purchased two of these drives due to the phenomenal price Amazon was selling them for, I've always wanted to sort out and organise my backup solution and with these two drives that's exactly what I've done.I've set these drives up to as a RAID 1 array on my 2007 iMac, configuration was easy, the drives operated exactly as I would have thought, and I had no trouble running my first Time Machine backup with over 300GB of information being transferred. The construction feels solid, the piano black finish gives a nice shine at first but soon attracts the dust. There aren't any grooves or slots to stop the drives moving if stacked on top of one another - but this isn't really a problem. Can't comment on reliability, but first impressions are good.

The product is good, had some issues when trying to access it at first but a quick format corrected it.The problem I have with it is that it says it has 1Tb storage but my laptop only says theres 931Gb's of storage, now i find this a big dissapointment as i payed for 1Tb and have been short changed nearly 100Gb's of storage which can be a big difference when you have a lot of data to back up.I'm impressed by the power function as it means I won't forget to turn it off as it turns off automatically.Overall though I happy with the product and at last this time they decided to pad the packaging this time campared to the last time I ordered something.

The drive arrived NTFS-formatted and ready for use. Plugged in the Windows XP and started working straight away with my backup software. Only quirks are:1) Occasionally upon restarting the PC the user is shown the "USB Device Connected - What do you want to do?" dialog.2) Occasionally Windows decides to assign the drive a different drive letter which prevents my backup software from working. It's not intended as portable storage so it stays put next to the PC, turning on & off automatically with the PC, so in the month I've been using it I haven't had any reliability issues.

I got this drive to record to from fraps. Originally I feared a loss in frames or quality when recording from the PC to an external drive, but I was pleasantly surprised to have had no issue with the unit. Runs quietly but I only need to have it plugged in to the power when I'm doing a recording, so I do not know if there is an issue with overheating when it is plugged in any longer than three hours. I would definitely suggest it for the price though, it's very asthetically pleasing too, just to add to reasons why it's a great option.

The buffalo drive was bought to record DBTV from our new Panasonic TV. All I can say is that it works really well. Easy to format, easy to record to and playback quality is great. There is surprisingly little noise from the hard drive, but I do think rubber feet could have been fitted so that when the drive is placed on a glass TV stand it will stop any vibration. I have attached some small rubber feet and it seems to work for me. The black colour fits really well with our new TV and stand. Very happy with my purchase.

I bought two of these more than a year ago. Very pleased with this device I wanted a cheap terrabyte external drive and this fits the bill. It rests on a hard sponge base (not supplied)to stop vibrations passing through to the table. Very quiet hardly notice it is there, left on almost permanently no heat to worry about. External power supply means an extra socket.Using Win7 haven't been able to put both drives on one PC at the same time yet, but that's possibly my system, I have a laptop for the second drive anyway.

This drive worked fine with my PC, but my Sony Bravia TV would not recognise it as a USB device (even after reformatting it to fat32, upgrading tv firmware etc). I think the buffalo drivers may not be installed on Sony TVs, Sony support told me to always use Western Digital drives with their products.Another issue with this product is that it comes with its own software for formatting the drive. If you try to format it yourself using Windows Explorer it will fail (you can format it via command prompt though).

I ordered this DriveStation on behalf of my Mum who doesn't want to lose all her treasured photographs on her computer. My neice's husband tried to install it but it wasn't compatible. I think he said it was American. He had to download a programme from the internet to install it. This is very frustrating as without his knowledge we would have had to get someone professional in to help.Once installed though, the DriveStation is very efficient & I'm very pleased that she's now got that safety net.

Very good, quite , fast (for a USB 2 drive eg ~ 22-46 MB/sec when backing up to it) classy looking and since, unlike my older 640GB version (a few years old - much noisier in fact quite distracting) ... it sleeps well and a using a bit of blue tack can be stuck to the top of a tower case like mine under the table to keep it secure and always available, important when you have some data that is backed up daily as well as other that is done weekly & monthly

I love the external hard drive. It holds everything I have, with room to spare. Music, Pictures, Videos, everything. Plug it into your Xbox or Playstation for easy browsing through your entertainment. Brilliant piece of technology. I bought a few of them though, as you can never be too careful, if it was to break, you want a back up! With this, I have nothing on my laptop, its all saved on hard drive. Laptop runs quickly, not being clogged with all sorts.

I wanted a good value USB2 1TB external desktop hard drive, and seem to have made a good choice with this one. Arrived pretty quickly, was easy to set up and has worked faultlessly since (used only for backups). Reasonably compact, stands vertical to fairly small footprint. The power adaptor looks a bit big in relation to the hard drive (not absurdly large though), and has a good length of cable to the hard drive from the power point.

I'd read a number of reviews about this product, some of which were mixed concerning reliability. I've now had mine for a number of months and would like to say that firstly, it is easy to install and set up for doing back-ups etc. Secondly (and so far), it has been perfectly reliable and despite me saving 1000's of photo's and other large files, it still has loads of capacity left. Worth the price and does what I wanted it to do.

As my Buffalo 250gb disc was rapidly filling up and never let me down seemed like a good idea to buy another Buffalo and I was right so far. Plug and Play worked straight away without problems. Can see no reason not to think the situation will not continue. I did check with a couple of shops regarding comments about 1tb models dying after 2/3 months and both said never heard of this. Possibly best to buy known makes like Buffalo.

Have now started using the external hard drive. All working perfectlyIt is light portable easy to locate and store. One thing to note.USB cable supplied is not exactly massive. (havn't measured it but cant be more than 3 feet)If you want to locate the unit any distance from your PC laptop etc, you will need a longer cable. The instructions could also be better with help regarding backups etc.Basically you are on your own.
