Starting a new home / office working job I was unsure what telephone would suit my needs. I mainly needed a phone with an RJ11 port for headset connectivity. My employer suggested a decent site with a wide range of suitable equipment (pmctelecom.co.uk) but to be honest I found the prices unreasonable compared to the similarly priced products here on amazon.Long story short, the BT Converse 2100 proved to be the best choice out of 20 others phones in terms of price-point & stability and as such I am happy to say I have not been disappointed with this purchase at all. This phone has a very solid and sturdy feel. Admittedly it has a somewhat limited feature range that (in my case) turned out for the best.Ironically the company software I use with this phone does all the glitzy stuff other higher priced phones come built with, such as call forwarding, address booking, secrecy, etc.If you are looking for a simple and sturdy office / home telephone look no further. This phone does exactly what it says on the tin with zero hassle and no fussExtension Cord Advice ---Also as a tip I just wanted to add I actually needed this phone installed across a room due to the location of my supplier phone box. As a result I also bought a 10 meter extension cord thinking everything would work out fine. Sadly, I ignorantly failed to understand that there are different types of cord, for example there are 2 pin, 4 pin, straight wired and cross wired cables.Unbeknownst to me my first cable was a two pin cross wired extension that failed to work with the BT 2100. Looking through the 2100's manual did not help illuminate me to the correct configuration and only by looking at the 2100's original short cable I could see four gold copper pins and then had to take a guess as to if it would be a straight or cross wired cable. So finally after wasting about £15 on extensions that did not work I can confirm for this phone you will need a 4-pin straight wired cable for extension purposes. After knowing this eBay had a wide range of them on the cheap and everything is now working all fine and dandy.I hope that lil tid-bit of info helps out someone who may be in a similar predicament.

The BT Converse 2100 corded white phone is a basic phone. It is corded, it is wall mountable and it worked straight out of the box when I plugged it into my home phone socket. I do not know how it works if used with a PBX or installation that requires tones instead of digital pulses. Are there any sites still around that need such an interface? I assume there are some. However, I am connected to the conventional BT PABX which uses the digital pulses. I needed a basic phone that would run off the PABX DC power so it would always be independent of the House Mains power. Very hard to contact the power company to advise them of a power cut if the power failure takes out the house, road, and the local mobile phone transmitter all at the same time. This has happened in my area several times. My old BT corded phone failed after 30 years so this was a replacement. The challenge was 'wall mounted' which was my requirement - not everyone will have that limitation. The base for use on a table unclips revealing 2 screw slots onto which the phone clips. Installing the screws (provided) is a small DIY task. The wall mounting is a bit fiddly but fairly easy. The phone has no add-ons as it has no external or internal power supply. However, it does have 3 buttons that can be programmed for dialling specific numbers. It also has a redial facility and will take an external headset which may be useful for some users. It does not have a screen so CLI or other such features are not available. As I said it is a very basic phone but it has a clear ring tone and the sound is also clear and a reasonable volume. I am pleased with it and am happy to recommend it to anyone in need of a phone which is independent of mains power. As an aside, I searched the Amazon site for Wall Mounted corded phone and the BT Big Button 200 phone came up in the search.Do not assume - check! That was the phone I started with but although it came up in the search, it is not wall mountable. If I had read the product description properly, I would have known that. Amazon refunded my money without question and my next choice was BT Converse 2100.

I bought this as a cheap and cheerful desk phone for my home office. My brief was simple, I wanted something which looked business orientated, was solid, had big buttons and had a port I could add a headset to. The main reason for wanting a headset was that most of this phones use will be for conference calls which may last an hour and I've been getting terrible aches from holding it under my neck whilst I type for too long. For the money this phone really hits the mark, it's well built and does 90% of what I wanted it to including having the dedicated headset socket that you can plug most cheap as chips headsets into. I do agree with some reviews that it's a touch on the quiet side but the reality is,unless you are hard of hearing, it's not a problem. The only things I feel like I've compromised on are the lack of speaker phone (although I am normally using the headset) and an LCD display to see the number calling or being dialled. Other than those issues, and lets face it, we're talking about a sub £30 phone here, it ticks all my boxes.

I initially had problems with this, as I had to use a (previously functional) dual Call-Centre-type 1.5cm connector to my RJ11 Headset cord. The seller (liGo) called me when I sent an e-mail for "Return" instructions, and the call prompted the immediate order of a "straight" RJ11 Headset for testing - which proved to be essential. (Make note!)Cut & Paste...[...]This coupling works perfectly and both products together are highly recommended. So I now have a new nice chunky handset (which I prefer) but for longer calls (e.g. to my Bank or Broker - when on hold) I have now regained the hands-free option, with clearer land-line sound and a fairly comfortable headset.

Seems well built, by todays standards. Is simple, does not have numerous features that you don't want, and forget how to use anyway.Quite sufficient memories for me, easy to explain why you haven't called, " sorry, I only have a few memories, and i must have my essentials in there , you know, the Dr, my children etc, and you know I can't remember numbers, or where I have written them down, I will get you to put your number in when somebody dies". All in all, if it doesn't break within the next few years it may "see me out".

Decent quality and value for money. A nice, heavy handset, so it doesn't slip and slide if you move the cord slightly, which a cheap and cheerful Binatone handset did (but that was designed to be screwed to a wall!). Coupled with a JPL Binaural Office Corded Headset and working great as a team.I have a DECT cordless as the main house phone, so headsets posed a bit of a problem. I simply used a BT socket doubler and plugged the Converse into that, in parallel with the existing house phone.

This phone is fantastic! I have bought two of these now. 1 for my Dad and me as we both have severe hearing loss, use BTE aids and other "land line" don't work well. The loop inside gives great assistance even with the amplifier off. A must for any person who has hearing loss & needs a phone that doesn't have big buttons (used by the elderly) & is designed for any one to use. Great looking well made and great value for money.

This is great phone. Very good quality materials, doesn't feel cheap at all like some say. Volume is good and even better after pressing "Amplify" button. This phone however DOES NOT RING when used with some questionable ADSL microfilters! So if you have a broadband and this phone won't ring you need different ADSL filter (that "meets BT requirements", I bought BELKIN at ARGOS and it works).I'm very happy with this phone.

I work from home and needed a replacement for a desktop phone i had initially purchased. It has a convenient headset jack so you don't need to pick up the handset every time you get a call.If you are thinking of using a plantronics headset with this, you need the Plantronics U10P 27190-01 bungee cable. The adapter i initially bought was wrong so hopefully that info helps someone out a bit :).

I would recommend this phone to anyone who uses a call centre headphone. This phone was recommended to me by other people working from home and I am pleased they did. It has all the basics you need. There is an easy access button on the top next to the dial pad that you press to switch from hand held phone to your headset, its that easy.

I bought this phone as I've just started working from home and needed a phone I could plug a headset into for teleconferences. It's simple to use with the headset (bought separately) and has a secrecy button so you can carry on typing when on a call without disturbing the other participants. Really pleased with it for the price.

For anyone needing a wall mounted modern phone that needs no external power source, this is a super product to buy. It is very well made, the bell can be turned down or off, and it has a small memory bank for the most frequently used numbers. I can't fault it and for the price it is a bargain.

The phone has good call quality and a very good speaker phone. It's easy to use and the buttons have a good action. Reliability is average this is replacing one of two I bought previously a few years ago as the buttons stopped responding which appears to be its weak point.

Good plain solid basic phone, but it doesn't have stuff on it like timing your calls when you make them which I miss. But that's my fault as I should have checked for this feature before buying. It does the job and that's the main thing!

Especially at Christmas it is important to contact one's friends. The warmth of a voice is so much more friendly than an e-mail so the phone is so important --- a word of joy -- a word of calm -- and a word of happiness.
