Just BUY this phone right now!So I've been getting many nuisance calls for many years, but it seems the last few months it's been getting slowly worse!3-5 times a day i would pick the phone up only to have the phone hang up , so you try to 1471 to see whose just hung up on you but of course there is "NO CALLER ID"It seems theres companies that think its ok to set up AUTO-CALL BOTS !from what i have read about it , its used by big telesales companies to call the household and find out if some ones home before the sales team call you and try to extract more personal information from you !Then there would be 3-5 PPI sales calls from foreign call centers, who of course use NO CALLER ID ,so you cant hold them accountable![Now you WILL NEED to set up caller display from your line rental service]So the phones arrived in less then 1 day, "amazing fast shipping as always from Amazon",I got 2 phones plugged straight in and on charge the phones are very nice to look at with BIG BUTTONS and a very simple menu system using the UP Down arrows i navigated my way to BLOCK , here you will find all the BLOCK type features like BLOCK by number or BLOCK by call type, so i enter call type and BLOCK ... Withheld Numbers , No Caller ID Numbers, you also get the option to BLOCK international calls or Pay-Phones and by number once the caller display is in place by your provider. Now all i can say is after 5 months of testing this phone is the best thing i ever did!I HAVE NOT RECEIVED ONE TELESALES CALL OR HAD THE PHONE PUT DOWN ON ME ONCE !So please people if you got elderly people you know or family people that suffer with anxiety from non stop problem calls treat em to a new phone and make em smile :)Don't even delay buy today!!

I brought these for my mother in law, who has an hearing aid and really struggles to hear on some days. She also has problems with her eyesight, so really needed a good allrounder. This has not disappointed, the numbers are very clear and she can see them without her glasses. The handsets are also not small, they are a good size. The controls/menus take a little getting used to, but once mastered simple to use. My mother in law struggles to take in new information (78) and so she needed something that would be clear, simple and self explaintary. This is exactly that. I had to set them up with the phone book, but now she just has to press the right hand button and scroll down the menu to find who she wants to ring. The phone back lights up so she can see (with her glasses) who she is ringing. She does still have problems seeing who is ringing, although it does display the name/number, if she does not have her glasses handy, it can still be a problem. Not a fault of the phone though. The ring (we have it on the loudest) is very clear and loud. I think there are 5 ring tones to choose from. You can see who has rung and if you want to, by pressing the left hand button, you can block that number from ringing again. Very handy for nuisance callers. The sound quality is great and she can hear clearly, even without her aid in. She also purchased a BT Decor 2200 Corded Telephone and this is much clearer to hear with.It operates very similarily to her other BT phone, which simplifies everything. Only need to understand one application of BT and every handset operates the same. Great idea

Two years ago we started to get "sales calls" even though we are TPS registered. As time went by these calls were becoming more and more frequent. Recently we have been receiving calls from a number which originates from Bradford, but in fact is a "masked" number being used by an international seller. We were getting 10 to 15 of these calls every day, and up to 2.35am in the morning, with no-one talking when we picked up (automated call). We complained to OFCOM, to no avail. I complained to BT who said they couldn't do anything to stop these calls. All I could do was unplug my phone in the evening which was inconvenient as our daughter is due to give birth.I did some research and found a forum discussing the "Bradford" number and one person on the forum just said one thing.."Just buy a call blocking phone". I didn't realise such a thing existed. Anyway, I bought the BT 4000 and it's EXCELLENT. Easy to set up and use. It doesn't actually block the calls, but it doesn't ring when they call and registers the call in it's log. So, to sum up, buy it if you are constantly being hassled by idiots cold calling. It does what it says in the description and It works ! Now we are having nice peaceful days and evenings.........PS, just a shame BT have found another way to rip their customers off, by selling phones that "block these calls instead of sorting out the problem themselves for their paying customers !

PROS:Easy to set up.Nice large buttons with positive feel.Display easy to read.Reception seems pretty good in most places around the house and even 200 feet away in the garden.Ringer, speech and hands free volume good.Volume boost, ("Amplify") function for quiet callers very useful.CONS:Sometimes the phone fails to respond to the first button push, so I presume there is a very slight delay while a connection is established between phone and base station. Once I became aware of this, it was not a problem, merely a quirk, really!Although the volume boost, ("Amplify") button is very useful, it's very easy to press it by mistake and instantly contravene any health and safety guidlines relating to safe volume levels!Obviously the design intention was for the button to be easily accessible during a conversation without having to move the phone away from your head. However, once again, it's a quirk and I've got used to it.Summary:After two months fairly heavy domestic use - very pleased.I have not tried the nuisance call blocker yet.UPDATE: Still happy after a couple more months of heavy domestic use. To answer another prospective buyer's question - the ringer can be turned off.

I bought these for my mother-in-law to save her spending £100+ on repairing an upstairs phone socket. She is 85 years old, going deaf and had two old style telephones, one in her lounge and one upstairs. She had trouble hearing people on her upstairs phone and couldn't hear either phone ringing if she was in the kitchen. The handsets are quite big and easy to handle and the number buttons are large, very clear and very easy to use. They have a large variety of ring tones, with different pitches, plus adjustable volume. My mother-in-law could hear clearly through the speaker even without the boost function. This set has a lot of optional features including call barring and the set up was straightforward with the enclosed instruction manual. My mother-in-law is happy so my wife is happy so I'm happy! All we need now is to set up the additional handset we bought for her kitchen and she need never miss a call again! (Perhaps I should explain that my mother-in-law's health is not good and her sisters and my wife would worry whenever she didn't answer the phone - was she simply in the kitchen or was she too ill to come to the phone?)

This is an excellent piece of kit, bought for a friend with problems with both eyes and fingers. She is getting on very well with it, so mission accomplished! It has a very readable display, and the buttons are big enough for her. There is a facility for nuisance call barring which we haven't looked into greatly. It is very easy to set up. Contact details and numbers saved on one phone automatically transfer to the other handsets. Calls can be made between handsets and external calls transferred. or 3-way calls conducted. The instruction manual is comprehensive and easy to read - bullet points are in a margin for easy scanning, with detailed text should you need it.That is a very good idea which makes it much more readable. And it looks good, and doesn't take a lot of space up.I ordered it Thursday night, and chose standard free delivery. I had an email to say it would be delivered the following Tuesday which I was pleased with. On the Sunday before delivery date, I got another email saying it would be delivered that day - I received it less than 72 hours after ordering - well done Amazon!

I purchased this product and my family and I think it is really good. Listening volume on the handset is reasonably loud and there is an amplification button if you need extra volume. The range of the handset from the base station is good: I have had no problem having the handset work 45 feet away from the base with a wall partially obstructing the base from the handset. Syncing the handset to the station is easy. The ring volume can be made to be very loud so that you can hear it from a distance. I previously used three other brands of cordless phones before hitting on this BT set and this item has had the best sound quality and has proved to be the best when it comes to being able to hear the person with whom you are speaking. The hands-free capability is good although obviously not as good as a purpose-built conference call speaker phone (which tends to be much more expensive in price). In summary, a good product, especially for the price.

Bought these as a replacement for our existing cordless phones which were becoming faulty due to age. Looked at quite a lot before choosing these after reading the spec and reviews, so the verdict so far--big clear buttons, can use them without my glasses, big clear screen--easy to see who is calling,---loud ring , which can be adjusted for volume which is fine for wife (she"s getting a bit hard of hearing ) but she is happy with these. After reading the instruction book I thought it looked complicated to set them up but found it was quite easy to follow as it has a similar menu layout to our T.V. so no problems there. The other thing which I like is the call blocker, so no more calls for surveys or PPI claims, and no more withheld numbers from call centers outside the UK. Prompt delivery, they said 14th but they arrived on the 11th so quite quick, and well packed as well. Happy with them so far, so hope there are no problems.

Purchased for elderly relative as she was losing her sight and found her existng phone increasingly difficult, often hitting the wrong keys and getting lost in menus that she couldn't navigate due to the small display. This one has proved a real winner - the handset itself is quite large so it's easy to grip if you have week hands or arthritis, the buttons are large, highly legible and offer good tactile feedback on pressing, the ring tones can go quite loud plus there is one-shot volume boost to help with quiet callers (that goes off after each call so you don't get deafened the next time!) and the display is large and contrasty with a good backlight. The normal memories and feature are allpresent - although in this case not used as we wanted to keep it simple to use - and the nuisance call blocking has proved a godsend.A good phone overall but especially recomended for elderly or partially sighted.

The units themselves are excellent, except for (1) it is hard to avoid depressing the amplfy button when answering the phone and (2) if one is phoned from a mobile phone the playback of the number, if missed, is too fast to write it down at even third of fourth 'go'., and even then it is difficult to decide where the number begins. It there is a means of halting the recall of the caller's number I haven't yet found it!The Quick Set-up and User Guide is 'almost' excellent. However, I found myself writing my own brief summaries of the actions to be taken to achieve certain ends. Having been involved in technical writing for most of my rather long life the last thing I would do is to criticise the author of what must have been a difficult project. At least it is in good English, though some of the text legibility leaves something to be desired. The two linked phones are a great asset.

Bought it for my elderly mum who was struggling to use another phone. This is much easier for her. The buttons are big and the display clear. The ringing volume is good and loud and the clarity of the audio is excellent. I like the long battery life so she can have the phone next to her armchair during the whole day and put it on to charge at night. The only thing to beware of is tinkering with buttons, as there are lot's of other mainly unnecessary features. This led her to accidentally putting it into "Do Not Disturb" mode - that handset is silent if there's an incoming call. The other handset (in her bedroom) will still ring but not the muted one. This can mean looking around for it when it rings!I easily reactivated the ring tone, but I think that Do Not Disturb is not really a useful feature. Overall and otherwise, very pleased and would recommend this phone.

Bought this for my mother in law who has great difficulty with technical things. Example she's on the phone to me and says "I got though straight away Ill try again" and proceeds to dial while still taking to me. Guess what she got through straight away! She manages ok with it once I explained that you also have to press green for go after dialling rather than just adjusting the volume. Now she calls all the time. Seriously though she is quite deaf, normally it's hard to have a two way conversation with her but she hears on this phone very well. All I need to do now is try to convince her that to change channels on the TV she has to use the satellite handset and not the phone."Now press 101 on the control that switches on the box with the bue light." beep beep dialling tones ensue ….

Bought these for my grandmother, who has an aversion towards cordless phones and has always refused to get one in the past because she doesn't like the way they feel, and they tend to have buttons that are too small or fiddly (she has severe arthritis in her hands). Thought it was about 50/50 whether she'd make me send them back, but I wanted her to have a phone she could keep next to her bed in case of emergencies so it was worth a try.Fortunately, she loves them. They're nice, easy to hold, substantial units that feel like a 'proper phone', and the buttons are large and clear enough that she has absolutely no problems either making or answering calls.Setup was simple, instructions are clear and the quality appears to be excellent. Couldn't be happier.

Brilliant phone, I went from receiving up to 20 nuisance calls a day from overseas call centers to zero as soon as I entered all the list of calls from these blighters.into the data bank after the initial charge up, it is simple to set up, the hand set is light and the big buttons a boon, sound quality is excellent and the different ring tones you can assign to all the contacts in the phone book lets you know instantly who is calling from across a room, the price is a steal, enough call features for my needs, and I shall be buying more of these phones to use for internal calls, big house with lots of 'lodgers' means no more shouting to find folks, I can recommend this phone as a very good replacement for an old one that is past its''sell by date'.

Very happy for first few weeks although very lightweight compared to last cordless phone bought several years ago. Almost flimsy to feel. Fairly simple to use basic phone but haven't investigated other features. It rapidly tumbled in my estimation when it froze up and it was impossible to use it to ring out or answer calls (it rang but couldn't answer or stop it ringing on base). I am disabled and the phone is a lifeline. We are told not to rely on our mobiles for emergency calls but this landline phone looks as if it can be just as unreliable. The problem was solved by fiddling with batteries, I don't feel I can rely on this as much as my old fixed line BT phone.
