I have the American version and although I doubt there are any differences, they may be subtle. I like this game. That said, this is a quality game. It's not trying to be realistic, and as far as linear game play, there is some exploration to be done. If the game didn't put it into a set path to victory, where are you gonna go? What are you gonna do? Go to the right and then go back to the left? The weapons are varied, and I found myself liking different weapons with different characters. They have limitations to the weapons they can carry as well. Two of them must have a pistol and one of those is a sniper. The other can be, but not as good. The main character is the tough guy. He's all about rapid fire to me. The lizard is about firepower. I'll usually equip him with the powerful weapons, though the main guy has more life. The characters, the game play, the difficulty, the graphics, it all comes together pretty well. Pretty lights, large body count type-thing.What I didn't like about this game is the story development. Let's be real. It's an fps and there really doesn't need to be a great story to have a good time with it, but in between missions the characters seem to have dialogues meaningless to the game. It's the back story, but it's not necessary and honestly, it gets annoying. Basically, "There are the bad guys. Kill them and lay waste to their land." Novel concept, huh...?I could have done without a poor story and just did missions rather than having to sit through the stupid cut scenes. Thankfully, you'll only sit through them once. Hit a button to surpass the empty and unrewarding story. With a name like Brute Force, what do you think the missions are, anyways? Go over there and give that mutated alien a back rub? There are lots of fireworks and the enemy is hidden or jumps out at inconvenient times. They're not too bright, but then neither are the heroes and some of the comments made by the characters are very funny. They'll take you by surprise at least the first time. "Preach it, sister."If you're considering getting this game, just realise that the name says it all.

I bought Brute Force after reading a magazine review. It looked very nice and indeed the graphics are, not unexpectedly, quite stunning. The premise is quite straightforward: you assume the identity of a four "person" commando team attempting to rid the galaxy of bad people and various ne'er do wells through a fairly linear set of missions. Each member of your team has an advantage unique to them and all are quite useful. However, being the type of game it is violence and mayhem are the name of the game and the weapon list is interesting if not predictable. Apparently the guys who developed Halo where advisors and like Halo, you are restricted to only two weapons but you get a multitude of grenades and the like to play with as well.Unlike most shoot-em-ups you need to control a team and this is where the game stumbles; it doesn't fall, just stumbles. The control system is virtually identical to the one used in "Desert Storm" and although quite logical, the pace of the action in Brute Force is much, much quicker and the enemy incredibly alert. Squad tactics like covering fire and the like are extremely difficult to do; although your guys are fairly intelligent and lob grenades, utilise medpacks and the like when needed when you are not controlling them. Creeping about is supposed to help but I haven't noticed. The only one that doesn't get spotted instantly is Hawk, only because she has a cloaking device that makes her invisible! That said, for furious action, some serious devestation and not too much thinking or tactics, Brute Force will do. At least until "Halo 2" arrives.

Brute Force is the kind of game that takes some time to grow on you. When you first insert the DVD into your xbox, what will immediately catch your attention is the detail in the graphics department. Almost every aspect of the graphics section is unbeatable. Yes, the graphics are better than Halo's! Utterly stunning. It doesn't end there though. Soon you realise that dremendous amount of work has been put into the sound department as well. The sounds of the explosions, the voice acting, the ambient sounds... everything sounds gorgeous, and needless to say that if you have a decent stereo, you will enjoy Dolby digital sound at its finest. As for the gameplay, hmmm. Brute Force is a team squad based game. You get to control up to four players at the same time, making your way through numerous missions, collecting cash depending on how well you do, picking up various weapons, items etc. The aiming system is a bit of disappointment as it works as if you're looking through the character's eyes (first person perspective) but the game's camera system is actually third person which makes the aiming and moving around a bit tricky at times. All in all, Brute Force will satisfy the hard core gamer who enjoys blasting his way through cool environments, carrying out tasks, shooting everything moving and non moving. For all the others, I believe the game will appeal to the majority of Xbox owners. Some may be put off by the camera system, some other by the lack of variety in the missions but generally Brute Force is an enjoyable game and quite big too! What are you waiting for then?

You may have heard that this is an excellent, polished and intelligent game. Well, two out of three isn't bad. Brute Force is basically a sci-fi shooter, and is good when it doesn't try to be anything else. The adverts with it as a squad based shooter are slightly misleading - squad options are available, and to the developers' credit they are easy to use, but in reality you'll find that running in guns blazing is the easiest, and most enjoyable, option. You are Tex, Flint, Hawk and Brutus, so overall a bit schizophrenic. Nevertheless, the different types of character give good variation to make it something other than a Halo clone, and the graphics are certainly better than Halo's. To be honest,it's unfair to compare Brute Force to Halo - one is an intelligent, demanding shooter that requires tactics and a lot of time to finish. The other is Brute Force. One thing Brute Force has going for it is the multiplayer - unlockable characters, loads of maps, and options to fight man-to-man or squad-on-squad - and yes, your unlockable characters do have some things in common, meaning that you end up with different squads with different strengths.Playing the campaign with a group of mates is also available, and they can jump in any time they want - although you may find that you all fight over Tex - the one with dual miniguns. So, Brute Force is in essence a good looking, entertaining blaster, with the option of some tactics, and the chance for you and some friends to take it to the enemy. It's great fun - just don't expect anything too taxing or serious.

If you are a fan of Halo and I know u are, then Brute Force will definatly appeal to you. Brute Force is set in 2340 and a new special forces unit codenamed Brute Force has been set by the confederation of worlds to deal with alien invasion. Your squad is made up of 4 commandos: Tex - Basically a walking killing machine, Brutus - A alien with spritual powers but is as hard as nails, Hawk - A stealthy character with a leathal power blade and Flint - A synthetic robot with amazing sniping abilites. Each member of your squad has a unique special ability wich can be activated with a push of the white button, these abilities are a very cool feature which makes Brute Force a joy to play.Brute Force's control system is very similar to that of Halo's so those who have played Halo will be able to pick up Brute Force very quickly, which in the long term is very good as you just pick this up and play it without having to master too many controls. The only thing you do have to master is the squad command controls, which is very simple anyway a quick tap on the D-pad and you've changed charater. A hold on the D-pad lets you issue commands to your group of commandos. Again the layout for this is simple with A,B,X and Y all benig used for basic commands. The best thing about this feature is that the AI of your squad is increadilby deatailed and they'll move to find cover or dodge out the way of a grenade. The enemy AI is also very good which gives a challenging yet enjoyable play.

After ordering Brute Force from amazon and recieveing it next dat(which I was most pleased with) I instantly stuck the game in my x-box switched on the surround and was dumbstruck. The game is awesome the graphics are excellent, all the characters look very real and believeable. To save you the long winded review the game is a very classy arcade squad based shooter with a solid character control an intuitive command system(for controling the other characters ordering them around etc). The AI is very intelligent as apposed to just running at you and one of the best features that elivates the game from good to great is your mates can jump in and help whenever you want! There is no noticable slowdon (even when a four player co-op mission is in swing). The missions get longer and tougher and as you progress you get cool new toys and plot twists apleanty. It's a solid single-player game and gets extra mileage through co-op and death match system link play. To summarise it's great fun playing solo and truly excellent with mates, Brute Force is a benchmark squad-based shooter which should sit proudly on your shelf next to Halo.

First off you can't control 4 players straight away you need to actually find the 3 other characters within the first few levels.Right now on with the important stuff, this is a good THIRD person shooter, yep you read correclty the words good and third person shooter in the same sentence......The graphics are good (apart from some slow down in split screen) and the viewpoint is quite good, you can clearly see where you are going and who you are shooting. The only downfall is in 4 player mode, when you have a quarter of a screen to see on you would prefer not to see the back of your character...but hey you get used to it...The sound is good...not much to comment on...explosions bit of music, the squads random comments can get quite annoying after the 50th time you have heard the same sentence...There are a few types of games on this title... Campaign, and Deathmatch (all out shooting between friends). To sum this game up, its a good one player squad based game but is ohhhh sooo much better if you get 4 controllers, invite 3 mates round and blast away...

Most X-Box specific magazines have loved this game, but multi format mags like Edge and Arcade have rubbished it. Each to their own, I dont know what Edge expected but if its action and fun with good looks, great sounds and music and diverse weapons this ones for you.The squad based gameplay is simple enough to get into quickly and allows rudimentary tactical play but nothing overly complicated. But if thats what you want get a PC and play Rainbow Six, this is all about noisey fun! The sounds are great all weapons have punchy effects which make you want to pull that trigger again and again. Ambient sounds, especially in the swamps and the spooky levels on Shadoon are great as is the music. The level detail is decent enough but it is very linear,no exploring the surroundings here, but i can forgive them that as should you.Multi player is not up to PC standard as split screen can never be, but is better than Nightfire and there's always Halo style co-op play which is great fun.Enjoy this one, I did.

Having enjoyed playing the co-operative missions on HALO it was great to have another game like it where each player can take on a character and play the missions. The downside to the game is that you cannot change the view from third person to first person but the controls are easy enough to get the hang of. Fans of GHOST RECON will like one player version as you have more control over how your team mates react and you can place them and leave them were you wish them to be. If the swaping of characters annoys you, then you can take control of one of the characters and control the rest of your team using the go to commands. Each character has a special ability (invisibility, weild two weapons etc..)and add a nice touch to the game. It is possible to complete the game with only one of the characters but it becomes harder the less team members survive the mission. Overall a very good game if you like playing the missions with your friends or if you like controlling a team to achieve your goals.

This is a great game in many ways and of course has down-falls, but not many and ill come back to them. Graphics are smooth, videos and story have good sequences that wont bore and all is dandy. Gameplay is smoother then silk on water and you do find it more intense somehow then halo, just beacause you get ambushed loads, your squaddies can get disorientated and people with telepathy fight you, so they teleport around. So much to say really, that all i can do is just pick on some bad bits to make you see how good it is. Ummmmm.......ok got 1, it is a bit repetitive level wise, BUT only because they want it that way (storyline). Although there are some amazing levels, but back to criticisms!Ummmmm, ok got another 1, Sometimes your squaddies fall and get killed, very rare though, but in a way, so what, you can clone them back in seconds if need be, so there ya go! Its a 9.99/10 and well deserved, buy it if your waiting for HALO2 and enjoy the fast, fun and frantic fury that follows!

If you are a person who likes shoot em ups well this has to be the game to buy at the moment, it is a true contender to probably the best game of last year and maybe even this year halo, well untill now. In the campaign of the game you can be a wide range of super commandos, they are tex a heavy assault troper, brutus who is a shock trooper who is very strong, flint who is a expert sniper and hawk who is a scout. They all have special abbilities when you press the white button on the controller, tex will get out both of the weapons he is carrying and shoot them both at the same time for extra power, brutus will go into vengar mode where he can regenarate health and kill someone with a charge attack in one go,flint can use auto sniper where you don't have to aim she does it for you and hawk can use her stealth mode to infilltrate behind the enimies lines. It is a world class game better than halo so give it a go, it's a CRACKER!.10/10

This game is a lot of fun at the end of the day. But it has a lot of other things to mention. It's graphics are superb, great bump-mapping, textures, scenery, models etc.. Although a little let down in the design department. The story is compelling if not a little cliche. Brute Force's AI is quite good, enemies hide and try to 'snipe' you if you're far off and storm you en masse if you walk right up to them. But the most important aspect to this game is the strategy, with the team commands you get a real sense of planning to this game. Made even more so with the harder difficulty. My favourite part about this game though is the squad deathmatch, great fun and fantastic maps.Although system link would be the better choice than split screen, if only to hide your tactics. Can't very well lay an ambush if the other player can see where you're hiding. Best game to come out in a while.

Graphics: the character models are excellent. on par with splinter cell.nice dynamic lighting. The levels are designed beautifully. lots of rocks and structures to use for cover etc. tactically demanding maps.wait until you see the explosion effects.. especially the frag grenades... (drooling over keyboard)Sound: great voice acting. background tunes rock.Gameplay: A combination of Halo and Conflict: Desert Storm. In a word, fantastic. You can rarely get away with rushing into a situation with all guns blazing... you're highly likely to get slaughtered. the game places high emphasis on team play, by using the specail abilities of your very unique team members and conrollinjg them as a cohesive team unit. The team commands are very simple to grasp.your basic desert strom commands like hold your position, gaurd, fire at will, follow me, go there etc.GET IT NOW!!!!

Brute Force has been hyped by Microsoft Game Studios America as a third-person squad-based shoot'em-up with in-depth strategy elements, rivaling Halo in terms of gameplay. Its not.Strategy elements and forward planning are necessary, but not in the same scale as Ghost Recon or even SOCOM. The game is mainly a sci-fi shoot 'em-up, and is very repetitive. But once you get past any complaints about the team elements or the misleading hype, you have an excellent game. Its not a classic, but it offers a great deal of fun especially in multiplayer. The single player campaign starts off dull, is superb in the middle but drags towards the end with little new variety.Definately worth your time and money if you like shooters. If not, think twice due to repetition.

Now everyone in the country or world, who owns an XBOX surely has or played HALO:COMBAT EVOLVED, if not then you should get it.This game though BRUTE FORCE is the equivalent to Halo and could be slightly better, the graphics are out of this world and very realistic. The basic plot of the game is that you have to gather a squad together of 4 people, each with different specialities, then battle the alien world through a range of different missions. BRUTE FORCE is an excellent game produced by Microsoft Anvil Studios and it really does show. The only pitfall is that there is no XBOX Live, but this doesn't matter as the game itself will keep you occupied for a long time. This will remain in the top 10 for a long time.I strongly reccommend, BUY this now.
