Jack, my three and a half year old grandson is obsessed with construction work and maintains multiple 'building sites' at our house and his own. When winter arrived, I bought a large builder's mixing tray and filled it with sand for him to play indoors. Soon my pencils started to disappear and I tracked them down to his 'site' where he was using them as 'pipes' under the sand. I seached for something more suitable and ordered these. I should have read the details more carefully as, when they arrived, I discovered they were far larger than I expected. Jack raised an eyebrow then launched into one of his lectures about health and safety on the building site before attempting to bury one of them in the sand.
