I bought this saddle to replace a Serfas saddle with about 20,000 miles on it. I had the impression that the foam was beginning to give out on the Serfas, and I had begun to get saddle sores riding long rides on it on consecutive days. On the recommendation of several touring riders, I bought this Brooks Swift saddle for my lightweight titanium-frame road bike, thinking it to be the appropriate version for my non-touring riding. It is a bit narrower (~153 mm) than the Brooks B-17 models (~170mm) many touring riders use, and less flat. I needed to be able to use it while riding in all 3 griping positions on my drop bars. After riding for ~1000 miles, it is beginning to feel like it is breaking in.It is very comfortable initially, but begins to cause some squirming around for a new position after ~60 miles; initially that point was at ~40 miles so it is still improving with each ride. Because it does not have a "cutout" for your "junk", you have to find a compromise mounting angle which works when you are in the drops, without causing you to slide forward when sitting more upright and griping the upper part of the bars. Midway between these two positions is when you are holding onto the brake lever hoods; this position has to work best, since that is where you will spend the bulk of your time. After a week of trying different angles, I finally found one which seems to work most of the time, with the nose tip approximately 4 mm lower than the back top edge of the saddle, measured with a bubble-level. Getting this angle right for you is critical for a comfortable ride with this saddle. I have my upper handlebars mounted ~6.5 inches lower than the seat, so I am riding in a somewhat lean-forward position, with my back nearly flat when in the drops; the saddle seems to work OK while riding in this position, with a fair amount of my weight being carried by the handlebars instead of the seat.I have used the Brooks Proofide leather treatment throughout the break-in process; I still apply it lightly to the saddle after every ride; the saddle continues to absorb this ointment-like potion, so I assume that I still need to apply it to soften and condition the leather until it is eventually saturated. It is IMPORTANT that the front part of the saddle be soft and flexible, because that is the part which is going to press up against your "junk", particularly when in the drops, because there is no cutout. So far, I have had no problems with the saddle, and my saddle sores have not returned. I will have to get a lot more miles on this saddle before declaring it superior to a foam/gel type saddle under all conditions, but at least I can now ride long rides again. I think it is a very nice looking piece, well made with a flawless piece of leather, and I expect it to last the life of this bike and beyond.

I have been practicing the Brooks brand for years. Everyone says it, they adapt to your morphology.Cher, Certainly not at least in steel rail! Maintained, they will last you 20 years or more, a modern saddle 3 or 4 years even at similar or higher rates. Hot in summer, uncomfortable on long distances, these all plastic have a merit: lightness for competitors, if you like comfortable like the legendary san marco rolls, it will weigh nearly 400g instead of 180g. A Brooks Swift or professional is deserved, it must be honed without hesitation by the hand, with proofide, vegetable fat of the mark. I apply it with a brush and then I knead the leather 1 to 2 hours by hand, And rolling pin.I make the fat penetrate with a hair dryer. I repeat the operation a second time the next day. Then roll youth! But it is not over, count 500 to 600 km to let the borrow of your ischions On the leather. 1000 to 1500 km without manual lapping.Adjust height, horizontality and important recoil between 1 and 2 cm more than a plastic saddle back. When the saddle will have its hollow and your ischions will have left Their signature, You will no longer have the sensation of gliding towards the saddle nozzle. In the meantime you can raise the spout very slightly Question, 2 or 3 mm large max if not stationary to warm up The crotch. The Swift is a racy and aesthetic saddle. For faster comfort, look side B17 aged or not! Narrow or classic! Sportively

Been riding B17's for years, and always found them a little wanting in the comfort department. Finally I splurged on a Swift, and boy is this better, no more pressure on the thighs from those sharp corners, and splaying of the sides. As Brooks themselves describe the saddle; "The handsome Swift was the youngest gentleman's racing saddle in the Brooks range ..." I should known from the start this was for me! Don't be cheap and a victim of false economy, spend the extra dough on this rather than a B17!

I own it few days. First impression - It is amazing.Nicely packed, super look, great feelings. Definitely need to break it in a bit, but after first ride it is absolutely comfortable for me.The pack contains a saddle, 2,5 gr proofide leather grease, wrench, and manual. (there is no rain cover for it).10 years guarantee if you register your product on Brooks website.I recommend this saddle for ones who are looking for a comfort, style, or just a nice present for beloved ones. :)

This is my second saddle, the first from high school on a bike that was stolen. If they had left the seat, I wouldn't have minded.Even though I ride a fancy carbon bike, I stick with what works.I've ridden over 300 miles in three days and there is zero soreness, even when first getting on the bike the following day -- well, no soreness where the saddle is concerned! Fantastic quality and comfort and it has been a conversation starter.

Great saddle. It took about 1000 miles to break this in. The Swift seems to be stiffer the the B17, but I could be wrong. This saddle started off very comfortable from the very beginning and only get better. There was very short period of time where it was a little uncomfortable but that went away very quickly. I used very little Proofide during break in. I just got another one for my second bike.

I have had two of these, the first one was sold with the bike, and the second was to replace the Bianchi seat that came ready built, I am no fan of the new super slim light weight saddles, they tend to lack comfort, brooks should know a thing or two about saddles they have been doing it long enough, and if it was good enough for eddy Merckx , who am I to argue.

My first Brooks saddle. Always wondered what all the hoopla was about for this expensive saddle. Now I know. This is the most comfortable saddle I've ever ridden on. The extra expense and weight is well worth it. Great support for my middle aged sit bones. No more pain on century rides.

I remember seeing these on bikes of friends in the Mid-Devon Road Club in the 1960s. I was in my teens and never dreamt I'd get one. Now age 67 I have! It might look unusual on my full carbon Shimano 105 equipped bike but it is so comfortable! Wonderful.

My initial feeling was that I had made a mistake buying this saddle but don't be put off by the first month or two, either it has moulded to me or the other way round as now its both comfortable and great to ride on.

It took me a long time to finally buy a Brooks saddle, and I am very happy I finally did. Outstanding quality, unlike the vast majority of other brands. I finally got tired of things falling apart every year...

It takes the running and after it is an armchair, my first saddle Brooks to 80000 km it is very fandilled and this after more than 20 years, then you have a little time for arrival to the mileage I say.

My first saddle from Brooks. To date only positive and heard test drive. At the beginning he needs a break-in time that the butt has to pay. But then steadily better. Can only recommend.

42 years since I last rode a Brooks. Oh, why did it take so long to get back on one? Search a great product. Feels great after one initial ride. Destined to improve over time.

Brooks bike seats are just the best, they may be expensive but they are very well made and well worth the price. Personally I'd never use anything else but Brooks seat.
